It was early in the evening as the older looking van pulled up to the front of the school. The temperature, while not sweltering, was still warm, warm enough to be uncomfortable. Surprisingly it was rather humid, which contributed to an almost oppressive heat. There was the promise of rain, though many of the locals had insisted it was not the case and that there would be several more days before any sort of relief would be felt from the heat.

Evony peered out her window, looking at the Academy that would be her new home. She had been excited to see it, though now she had felt strangely disappointed. It was nothing like academy she had come from, Beauxbatons, which in its own rights was a palace surrounded by scenic mountains and forests. This was nothing like the home she had known for the last 5 years. Still, she had elected to this exchange voluntarily and was not entirely put out by the quaint look of Tallygarunga Academy. In truth, she now felt even more excited to see it inside, for it wasn't a secret that many of the quaint places in the magical world held many secrets and vast beauty just out of sight of prying eyes. Perhaps, like the cab she now sat in, which on the inside was more like a spacious train car, this place would hold similar secrets.

The driver hurried around the outside of the cab, opening the back and removing her things, before making his way to her door and opening it. He gave her a nod and a toothless smile as he gestured hurriedly for her to exit the cab. As soon as the door opened she was greeted by the sudden and almost violent change in temperature. The compartment she had been relaxing it had been rather comfortable, and now she struggled to adjust to the sudden change. A small cough escaped past her lips as she stepped out of the cab. first her front legs, then her second. It had been a marvel, and perhaps a bit of magic, how she had managed to squeeze herself out the open door, which even now as she turned to look back at it, seemed far to small for her massive frame to fit through.

Once she was free, and after making sure that her tail was not in the way, the driver closed the door again, locking the cool air inside the rustic looking vehicle. He nodded again to her, showing his still toothless grin, before scurrying off to the driver seat of the cab and driving off without a word, kicking up a trail of dust behind him.

Evony watched as he left, before turning to face the school again. Her smile broadened now as she drew her wand and pointed it at her trunk. "Locomotor!" she declared, her accent causing the words to flow rather sweetly as her trunk lifted a few inches off the ground and began to follow her. With her large stride, it didn't take her long to actually reach the front doors, which seemed to open on their own as if to invite her in. She was shocked to see that there was, at that very moment, no one there at all. Had their been some kind of mistake? Was this even the right place?

This had typically been the time of day where Alexander had a bit more 'time' to himself, or rather, he was in the limbo of waiting for either his wife, one of his friends, or just trying to find the time to poke at Adele. He had been sitting down to catch his breath for a moment while leaning against one of the many tables that had been situated in the Great Hall. An arm arches over across his midsection while his eyes drifted down to look at the time. "Aaaah. . . It's about that time to get moving anyways." One hand leans against the bench to lift his body upwards while the other hung low to grasp the neck of his guitar which lovingly had been dubbed 'Sapphire' in the other and made his way towards the entry way. Leading him right out into the Gawler Foyer where he started to sling the guitar's strap around his torso and tightening it to bind against his chest.

At first, he hadn't noticed much of a difference as his head lifted up a bit higher than he had bee accustomed to see a towering red-head while he strolled out. Alex's attention quickly snapped which his body followed afterwards while his oddly blue eyes scanned along the much larger oddity than the young girl's height.

'Is. . . That the hind of a horse. . .?' Several times his eyes shuttered as if the vision before him would change like a haze that covered over ones sight after waking up from a daze. 'Nope, not hallucinating. That's DEFINITELY a horses rear connected to a. . . Oh. OH!' Of course, it would take a bit for it to click in his mind never having seen a Centaur before, especially not so far into this part of Wizarding civilization. Truthfully, the young man was tossed in quite the loop with it and then realized in this quick scenario. . . He must look like a donkey's hind.

An embarrassed chuckle emitted from him as he quickly shifted to his usual self finally having all the details sorted out in his mind. "Hey there, you must be a new transfer. Er. . . Judging by the floating along luggage." And the fact that he hadn't seen her around before. She's someone a person wouldn't miss what so ever in many factors. "From one new student to another, welcome to Tallygarunga!" Alexander's hand reached out towards Evony's in a greeting. "The names Alexander Winfield, Alex is fine - and this lovely collection of strings and awesome on my back is Sapphire."

His head had been reclined to keep his unique blue hues on her, even with the light of the sight giving a bit of assault to his perception.

It wasn't long, barely even a moment really, before someone else entered the Foyer. A young man in his late teens with long black hair and striking blue eyes. Evony watched him for a moment, he moved with confidence and purpose, though he didn't appear to be in a hurry. and as those blue orbs fell on her, she couldn't help but get a shiver as if someone had doused her in cold water. Before she had left her previous school, many of her friends had expressed their jealousy at her being able to go and mingle with "Those hot aussie boys." She had dismissed the notion as nothing more than idle girl chatter, but now she had a better understanding of what they meant. For a human, he wasn't bad looking at all.

"Oui. Je Viens de transferer. Je suis Evony..." She stopped a moment, blushing at her mistake. It was true her grasp on English was more than enough to get by. She had understood him perfectly, however, when it came to replying she had instinctively chosen her native tongue. As of yet, she had had very little actual practice conversing with those who spoke English, so she wasn't used to actually speaking in it first. "Err, Forgive me. I am ze new transfer student. My name is Evony. It is a pleasure to meet you and your Saphire." Her words were rigid and her tone a bit formal, but the message was passed on easily enough and with no stuttering.

Without a second thought, she pointed her wand at a nearby wall, and her trunk moved swiftly over to it, setting itself down neatly out of the way. No doubt there would be a network of house elves ready to descend on her belongings and whisk them away to her room the moment she looked away. "I ave come from Beauxbatons in France to study ere wiz you."  Her accent rolled her words smoothly making them sound delicate and whimsical. While she spoke she stepped towards Alex offering him her hand with a bright smile. SHe took care to lean down a little so as to make things easier. He was actually surprisingly taller than what she had expected, which made leaning down all the easier.  "Forgive me, but I assume you are not ze head of ze academy ere to welcome me."

It seemed to be often that he'd find himself in these positions, meeting people or some how greeting them. Of course, the last thing that had been expected in the day was meeting a person who also happened to be a centaur. She also wasn't what he had expected her to be, there was a form of charm towards her aside from not only the exotic nature of what so was but it had been tacked onto the same reasoning of where, which was caught his attention the moment she had responded in an entirely different language. It had been some time since he had heard that particular style of accent - at least he remembered it from a bar one night.

A light chuckle eased out of Alexander accompanied by a wide smile while one of his hands weaved through the black locks. "Aaah, no need to apologize. I know that kind of problem. Er. . . Sort of." Not in the sense of languages but he seemed he found himself often inserting musical lines as words to respond with. "It's nice to meet you, Evony! Haha, Has a pretty smooth style to the name." With a smooth nod of his head an appraised wonderment lingered within his gaze. Names, they were always interesting and powerful to him. A playful scoff pulsed out of his lips. "Don't shower too much attention on the old girl! She's a glutton for it." His hand tapped the base of his guitar lightly with a firm wink that only seemed to accentuate the confident aura.

The way her arm adjusted and shifted towards the wall with wand in hand drew an impressed hum from him. It seemed almost effortless or more second nature in the manner it was stricken. When his eyes returned back to focus more on her entire form he was able to notice due to less of a shock the chestnut coating of her lower portion which was complimentary to the hair that flowed down from the top of her head. "Yeesh~. All the way from France? And Beauxbaton at that. . .  I don't know much about it but in my old school they talked about the more prominent schools more often.

Benefits of being in a private school, downfall, they almost always talked up the more 'Fairer sex' from those kinds of schools due to the all boys exclusion. Thank Merlin's pointy hat that he wasn't in that situation any more.

"Hey, the more the merrier to study. Always cool meeting new people and from a different place at that, just reminds me of how much more I have to learn about things." As she bent a bit more downwards to grasp his hand in greeting he shook firmly, at least as firmly as he could. He had hoped he wasn't too much of an inconvenience to her posture with his own height in comparison. Considering this he only allowed for the physical greeting to last for a few seconds before his arm would recede back to his side just so she wouldn't have to lean over for too long.

Snickering his head shook easily. "I don't think -anyone- would want me being the head of the academy." Not that a Spencer couldn't do it, a Spencer -was- doing it. He just was a bad choice in general in his mind. "Just a wandering student whose trying to learn and doing it badly." The final words were spoken in a tone to heighten his clear jest of the self-barb. "I could always take you to his office if he's in? I'm in no rush."

"Merci."  Evony replied with a smile and a giggle. She wasn't fully able to understand why she was giggling now, even thinking about it, nothing particularly funny was even said. Sure it was sweet that he had complimented her name, Smooth he called it. No one had ever said her name was smooth. Maybe she couldn't help giggling. He was charming, for a human. More than that though, he was a boy, an older boy, and one she had never met. He was exotic and new, a foreign flavor so to speak. Back in her old school, she had not spent as much time associating with boys. While the school was co-ed, there did exist a certain level of segregation between the genders. Would she really be the victim of her hormones destined to break the conventional molds of her people simply because her upbringing was different?

Evony snapped back to the moment, having drifted off into her own thoughts moments before and straightened herself up. Naturally, she was taller than Alex, but it wasn't by a much, which in its own way highlighted how small she was compared to her own people. She had wanted to distract herself from her thoughts and so she opted to start up a solid conversation.  "So you play ze guitar. Zat is a wonderful talent. I am afraid I ave no skill in such zings." She said with a smile casting her gaze upon the instrument peeking out over his shoulder. She had only ever seen a handful of guitars in her life, many of which were played by students at her old school, though they never carried the instrument around like this, and none of them ever spoke so fondly of the instrument.

Her well-groomed tail flicked sharply to the side. It was a habit of hers that she hardly noticed anymore, if ever. It helped her keep cool, and during times when bugs were out, it helped to keep them off her. At this moment neither of those things was a concern for her and this was just a casual movement. Alex had suggested he could take her to see the headmasters office, but to be honest, she was in no hurry to do that just yet.  "Per'aps you could show me around instead?" As she spoke she looked over to where her trunk had been. In the few moments that she had been focused on the young man in front of her, it seemed that house elves had carried it away to her room. THose charming little creatures certainly were efficient.

She pawed nervously at the ground as she looked back to Alex, holding her hands behind her back nervously.

Gracefully his head bowed "You're very welcome!" He understood that much though that perhaps was the benefit of pop culture. One may not know the entire language but there were just some that were so 'mainstream' that the meaning and intention can be read across easily enough. As his eyebrow raised up briefly hearing her giggling fits a smile perched on his lips, she was the bubbly sort or at least something really tickled her fancy and he couldn't quite put his finger on it in the moment. Alexander opted not to bring it up there was no need to make someone feel self-conscious about it, that wouldn't do any good for a carefree atmosphere. It was a prized and rare thing to have in ones environment especially in these days. "Oh! RIGHT! Try not to worry about the Auror's walking around. They can seem intimidating but after a while it's almost as if you can ignore them, or laugh at them. I like to laugh at them.

He hadn't met many Centaurs - or to be specific, she was the first ever he had encountered. The concept of their proper height was something that eluded in raw image unless he was back in class studying various magical beings and their typical heights in black and white. Mention of the guitar caused his glance to shift towards the instrument for a moment before settling his unique blue orbs on her once more - a smile graced widely on his face. "Oh yeah, this skill has helped me through. . . A lot of rough times. I'm actually really into music. Singing, recording - recently started to work learning how to play piano." Two fingers pressed against the edge of his lips as a series of chuckles escaped. "Sorry, there, some people tend to say once you get me talking about music I can go on for a while. Like a chatterbox with it."

Bashfully he rubbed the back of his neck, it was a very complicated relationship between him and music. While not viewed as bad or only for a specific purpose it had gotten him through the various physical pains and the moments in life when it felt as if 'darkness' itself was coming to greet him. It was a spirit bolster and it had been through another's own talent with it that inspired him to keep up that same form of spirit in his own dedication to the art.

"Show you around?" The palm of his hand curved at the side of his face in thought as he considered the time, he didn't have anything to really do today. "Yea, sure, I can do that! I'm pretty much all filled up on my classes today. Which means free time!" Tone in his voice entirely laced with a carefree inflection behind it. "Might end up running into a few people along the way too, would be a good way to get used to the school a lot faster knowing people."

Aurors? Evony had had little experience with Aurors. In fact, she had never seen one in real life before, not that she had ever known anyways. From what she knew, they were highly skilled in hunting down dark witches and wizards. They were often characterized to be grizzled and ill-tempered, so the idea that they could just laugh at them seemed a bit strange to say the least. Furthermore, a more important question was raised. Why were they here? Was their fear of corruption among the staff? or perhaps there had been a threat against the academy? Now Evony's mind and curiosity raced and she made a silent vow to sleuth around for information later. For now, she had more important things to worry about.

Alex had agreed to show her around a little bit. This meant she would have the opportunity to talk him up even more. She had to make sure to be careful, after all, this was just a tour of the grounds. "Oui. It would be a good adventure too." She added with a smile. Inside she was mentally scolding herself for how easy she was making things. This was not like her at all. As a rule, she was usually more stuck up than this, she was after all a centaur. Yet here she was making her own efforts to spend one on one time with a boy she had just met. Part of her even wished that they would not run into people he knew so that there would be fewer distractions.

"So 'ow long 'ave you and Saphire been 'ere?" As she spoke she took a step towards the doors that would take them to the Great Hall. He stride was easily twice that of his, so she made sure to keep her movements a little slower so that she did not appear too eager to move on, but also so that he would not need to jog to keep up to her. In the last few years of her life, she had learned how to pace herself with humans very well. It was one of those things that few people actually thought about until they were actually in this position. She also made sure to keep her front in line with him as t allowed her to look over and see him easier, rather than having to turn around to see him if she kept him at her middle.

Her curiosity was getting the better of her now, not so much for the school, but for him. She had read about the school, its buildings and even its layout before coming here. She was diligent that way and studied hard before doing anything. This didn't mean she wouldn't get lost, but it did give her a better idea as to where she was and what she was getting into. But now she had the attention of this young man, and he intrigued her. She wanted to know more about him, and if she liked what she heard she would be keen to spend more time with him. Of course, even now she was getting ahead of herself. She had no idea who he was and already she was thinking about what they might do the next time they hung out if such an event occurred.

"I mean you said from one new student to anoz'er.". He couldn't have been that new, but then again he could have easily been just as new as her. How charming would that be if the new students started spending time together? She stopped, giving her head a gentle pat as if she forgot something. She needed to stop getting ahead of herself, this was not like one of her novels, this was real life, and things did not happen like those trashy books.

Not quite the glowering review one may have wanted to get about their school, but it was also one of those things that needed to be said before being blindsided on it. At least it gave a person enough time to process it and know what they're walking into. Though he decidedly left it at that knowing how close to him of a relation it truly had been, even trying to keep the usual upbeat personality he found that he had been looking over his shoulder even more of late. "Other than that it's pretty nifty! The Headmaster is cool and really chill and laid back. Willing to work with students that have a variety of problems or issues when it comes to the magical department." A saving grace no doubt for himself at any rate which made Tallygarunga infinitely better than other schools in his honest opinion.

There was an irony here in this moment and it didn't escape Alexander in any way, transfer student showing another transfer student the digs of the school. It took him a bit to get used to how it was designed even as the different sectors of what had been renovated and which kept the 'classic rustic' appeal shifted in different areas. "I do like adventures, I cannot lie." A gentle chuckle eases out as he weaves a hand along the side of his head to pull a few strands of the raven lacks from his sight. "Have to enjoy every moment, a lot of stuff out in the world to see. Just waiting to explored, unchained, understood." This was the kind of mentality he found helped serve him a lot of ways especially in person motivations when it came to survival.

As he about faced towards the door he started his way back towards where he had gone walking along side Evony trying to keep up the pace. It was a good and thoughtful. That she had decided to consider his own steps in mind making it so that she wouldn't need to look back towards him but also so that he also could keep up with someone who had much more stepping width than himself. "Mmm... Only a few months." Had it really been such a short time? He couldn't help but laugh at himself in that regard letting the time get away from him in such a way . "Six months-ish. I came around December, settled in due to circumstances from my other school. That and I wanted to get a heads up on what I was really dealing with before sessions started up." The edge of his thumb from his left hand coursed along the strap that clung to his chest absentmindedly where Sapphire was attached to keeping it closer to his body.

"It was pretty rough, definitely a change. For starters, there are actually people of the opposite gender around. Coming from a private all boy school to somewhere like Tallygarunga is a shock on a different value." Even more so with how the Common rooms had been setup and the houses, that had intrigued him when he first arrived and a lot of questions he held didn't need to be asked but just experienced and witnessed firsthand. "So, yea, a pretty new student! A few months ahead of you but still on unfamiliar grounds here." Had his entire time here been just one long rollercoaster drop of events? It took the question from Evony to juggle his mind to consider and even go in mental depth about it all.

Finding out he had a Sister, that his Mother was around and just. . .A Very questionable matron figure which was only on top of the fact he wasn't entirely 'Human'. The recent fiasco of finding out about his father and the coma-like state of his great niece. What even was normal for him? His thumb slide along the emerald and sapphire ring that clung to the finger on his left hand. Alexander's head shook lightly to snap himself back to reality and focus, he didn't want to be too rude delving into his thoughts especially when he was to be a form of assistance.

As they entered the Great Hall his eyes shifted around the area. "This is the Great Hall, where we multitudes like to get a bit of a munch and casually socialize! During the early months this year myself and a couple of others held a party here. Had food, a bit of uninvited stragglers from Bilby and live music." That was a crazy moment in itself but he wouldn't replace it in his memory. There was just something fond about it all even with its oddly tense atmosphere at the start of it all.
