Dressing for a fairytale costume party was certainly not something Vladimir Zakharovich was used to doing, but with his children at the helm, it was easy enough for the immortal man to become a knight. Of course, the children need not know that the sword he carried within the scabbard was real, forged by his own hand. In fact, nor did anyone else - one should always expect the unexpected.

"Maks, Katya, behave," he indicated to the two youngsters, the former also dressed as a knight, and the latter sporting the ears and tail of a cat. "Yes Papa, we will, don't worry!" Maksim exclaimed, though Vladimir was skeptical; both his children, with their propensity for pyrokinesis, well... It paid to keep an eye on them, suffice to say.

Vladimir however soon locked his eyes on the gathering near Adele, and the man made his way over, his grizzled face calm as he scanned the crowd of people, his eyes taking a quick headcount of who was all there. He then looked to Viktor and Jezebel, Adele and Dave, and the man that seemed to be the centre of it all. Maksim and Ekaterina, eager to follow their Papa, were right behind him, the little girl tugging at her Papa's sleeve. "What's happenin' Papa?" She asked inquisitively.

"Ya ne znaiyu,"* he murmured to her, his hand falling atop her head and giving her hair a ruffle.

"Ah! Grandfather! We're being introduced to Adele and Alex's father," Viktor explained when he saw the man approach. "Rheldor, this is my grandfather I was speaking of."

"Vladimir Zakharovich Valentin II, the pleasure is mine," he said with a bow, "Welcome to the festivities, you arrived at an opportune time. These two are my childr-"

But, in true Maksim and Ekaterina fashion, they didn't leave Vladimir the time to explain.

Maksim had the sacred duty to protect this little sister, and he couldn't protect her if he didn't know what was going on. That was why the little boy quickly tugged his sister along and followed their Papa to the gathering of people. But surely it was okay, since Lei, Erian, Letta, and Nika were there too. Ekaterina then latched onto Papa's sleeve, and Maksim approached the group without any fear, a cheeky grin on his face as Papa tried to introduce them.

But Maks was a fierce honey badger who could totally do this himself!

"That's us! I'm Maksim!" He exclaimed to the new man that Maks had never seen before, "And that's my little sister Ekaterina. You can just call us Maks and Kat if you like, it might be easier to pronounce if its too hard. You came to party with us? It's Viktor and Jezebel's special not-a-wedding party, at least that's what I heard the adults call it."

Then, Maksim looked up at the man in question before looking to his Papa, and then back at the man.

"If you're mean and hurt my sister, or my friends, I'll set you on fire with my special fire magic."

In the background, Vlad Zakhar put his hand to his face. Oh dear.

Rheldor seemed to be taking the meet-and-greet in stride. He was enjoying every moment, the new faces, the seemingly endless family. Lorelei made no bones about correcting him over Adele's title, and both eyebrows raised with further delight.

"Ah! You have---" Rheldor paused, a little of that light dimming. "So Mamiere is...?"

Adele simply nodded. It seemed there was a lot that he wasn't aware of, facts that had no doubt been hidden in the name of "keeping him happy", or whatever reason Lillian wanted to pretend was right this time. She clung to David's arm and desperately hoped that Rheldor wouldn't question that further. Not here, not now. Jezebel's look served as the prompt she needed, and more introductions would change the subject nicely.

"This is my husband, Father. David." she said, feeling for the first time in her life that she really needed someone to approve of her choice here. What would she do if her father rejected Dave? But there was no need to worry about that, Rheldor stepped forward and embraced David almost as tightly as he had Alexander. Adele relaxed a little, letting out a breath she hadn't realised she was holding. Sure, Rheldor didn't know anything about Dave, and certainly didn't know about their recent troubles... but it was nice to have that validation all the same.

"A son by marriage is still a son," said Rheldor, before releasing Dave.

From behind Alex, Caleb felt himself being pushed forward. Much as he had been when he first met Alex, he was in awe of this sudden new family member. A little intimidated by the intense affection and boisterous nature of Rheldor, but awestruck all the same. Various Valentins came forward too, and soon Rheldor found himself being threatened by Maksim. He laughed, before dropping to a crouch in front of the boy.

"Fear not, young Maksim---for I shall harm neither Ekaterina or your friends," he said with flawless pronunciation. "Particularly for fear of your fire magic! You are quite the strong defender, I would not like to cross you." Rheldor grinned, standing up and turning his attention to Jezebel and Viktor.

"What a wonderful day to be here, then!" he said of the occasion, and looked around in question. "An important family day to say the least---Liana will be here shortly, yes? And Caria? I can't imagine they would miss this." he looked again, but couldn't see either of his sisters---suddenly frowning as he turned back to Adele. "They are not also...?"

"No, Father." Adele shook her head. "It has been a long time. Many things have... well. Changed."

A sad confusion registered on Rheldor's face for a split second before he shook it off.

"Ah. Well. We still have much to celebrate!" he declared. "To freedom, to love... and to family!"

"Oh what? No!" Kate whined upon hearing the news about Alan and Audrey. Given Audrey's knack for organising Alan's life, Kate had assumed that Audrey had things handled in areas that Alan never did. Clearly she'd been wrong. Kate knew all about Alan and his "lack of preparation" so to speak. Now it had cost her fifty bucks, and she'd been so sure she was going to be right. Flipping the long, blonde braid over one shoulder, Kate folded her arms. "Damnit, there's no way I can win now. How long you reckon before he proposes? I've got ten bucks that says he's already bought a ring."

Kate's  smile was one of dry amusement, but Hazel's words were still ringing in her ears. She was happy for Alan, but she also couldn't deny the gut-wrenching jealousy that came with it. Why did it get to be so easy for him? He'd been able to end his relationship with Rachel. Losing Lauren had been a tragedy, but he'd been able to try again. Kate had been advised not to try again. Hazel really wanted brothers and sisters, she'd asked Santa for them every year since she knew who Santa was. It broke Kate's heart every time.

"Hazel reckons I should go out with someone," she laughed softly. "She suggested you first, actually. So she can be Jezebel's sister. You, or her teacher. She really likes that guy. It's good. I like him too." and immediately after saying it, Kate began to hope that Stuart didn't remember any of the less-safe-for-work comments drunk!Kate might have made about her daughter's teacher. And especially not her devious plan that involved turning up to the school ten minutes before pick up time, in the hopes that Boaz had decided to teach his classes shirtless that day.

Her cheeks began to flush red all the same. Great. Now she looked like a blonde tomato.

Aiden was rather sure that he would be missed in all this commotion. There was a lot going on, and just trying to follow it was making his head spin. How was it that any other family managed to be more drama-filled than his? He thought he had that niche covered with the father-in-jail, brother-in-coma, and the sad story of his mother schtick. He should have known, though, from the few times he'd ever heard Matt talk about Adele DeVylissea. Where she went, trouble followed. Or she created it. Aiden wasn't sure, Kate had interrupted that conversation with some very colourful negativity.

He felt stupid standing here, and was about to turn around and find a different corner to blend into---when Lei bounced up and declared him as "her" Aiden. Aiden coughed, looking around to see if anyone had heard that. Was that actually what she said? What did it mean? Aiden knew Lei well enough to know that the girl didn't choose words at random, and he wasn't sure how comfortable he was at the idea of belonging to a... huh. Aiden frowned, realising he actually had no idea how old Lorelei was. She was a child, anyway.

"Um. Hey." he said, lifting a hand, and looking up to find several of Lei's family members giving him the stare-down. Well that was uncomfortable. He didn't know anything about this great-grandfather business either, and as Lei bounced back away to the older man Aiden remained where he was.

Weird. This was all very weird.

Forget what Em had said, Liz and Liams idea of dressing up as Team Rocket, despite the theme for Fairy Tale". At least they dressed up and Susan teaming up along with them and finding a wicked costume of Meowth to go along with them. The tail was a bit of a hassle to drag around, but all of the little kiddos loved it, and the umbrella she had brought along provided shade too. She bumped into the two of them, grinning before going off to mingle and say her hellos before she settled down to just enjoy everything.

It didn't take long for her to find Arti with her 'plus 1'. "I'm loving the outfits," she said cheerfully, playing gently with her friends hair before sitting down with them. "She's right though. You won't have much luck with it, but supplying Liam with some photos might be more helpful than trying to blackmail him yourself." Her trailing coat tails were flicked out behind her and she watched the curious happenings at a distance. She needed to sneak around and perhaps do a little bit of spying.

It didn't take much to piece together what had happened and she ran off, heels catching in the grass along the way, to find Liz and Liam to let them know what she had overheard.

"Guys... so obviously Alan and Audrey, right?" She began a little out of breath, but still excitedly. "Now, I'm not 100% sure, but I'm pretty sure...That Auds is not sick from too much chocolate."

((Five million years late... sorry bout that! Feel free to have people poke at Susan as she wanders about!))

When Josie arrived the place was already a circus.  It had taken her a bit, but eventually she'd managed to find her old cat ear headband and collar setup, and a spell to turn them from black into purple.  She'd had to have a little help with it, actually, as well as to temporarily color her normally brown hair to the same colors. The former Spencer looked around, eventually spying familiar faces in Viktor with one group, Jezebel in another, and ... was that Sparky with a camera?  She couldn't help but let the laughter ring.

There were so many others she recognized of course, Vladimir and his son, Alan and Audrey, Susan, and even some of the students--like Alex, that little flame-bursting, medically suffering boy who had brought in the sickly thin girl who had been bullied.

It seemed everyone had found their groove, but Josie decided to hang back on the outskirts and simply watch everyone enjoy themselves.  She'd say her hellos to Jezebel later when there wasn't a huge crowd around her--if that ever happened.  She'd always been so popular that was a rarity.  But the school nurse had never been terribly comfortable in large crowds.

Mairead gave a light giggle as she curtseyed.  "Why, thank you!  I see no one's as burly or brawny!~"  She wiggled her eyebrows playfully at her uncle, teasing him for his own costume.  She couldn't help but wonder why he didn't have a date.  She peered around.  Or was there one, and she didn't see them?  Oh, well.  "Mm, just wait til you see mom!  She is gorgeous, as always!"  Her chest puffed with pride.

Soon Kate joined them and Mairead gave a small wave to the woman.  It took a couple moments to recognize her, what with the long, braided wig, but it wasn't impossible by any means--she'd seen her enough times, after all.  "Oh look, Elsa!  I'm surprised none of the tiny little girls are donning that outfit."  She was extraordinarily popular still among children, but she gave a shrug.  "Have either of you tried the tea?"

It had been a couple of months since Améa had left. Zane had fallen into a deep depression. He knew she was better off far away from him. He couldn't protect her from the pain he would cause. He thought she may come back, and it would be enough to break this curse over him set by his uncle. She did not. He thought maybe if they were to start a family, it would fix everything. She wasn't coming back. Thomas was growing impatient, and Zane was feeling the wrath behind it. All of this because of Thomas' anger toward Adele. Zane had been living as a prisoner in his own home. He'd been unable to leave unless Thomas allowed it. Ever since Zane had confronted him, Thomas had redone the imperious curse that was placed upon him. Strengthening it. Thomas had also tortured Zane, just to reinforce everything.

So, when Thomas had gotten word after overhearing while under polyjuice potion of this party, he knew that it was time to act. All of the family would be in one place It would be quick, and easy. Zane would be able to place a small, yet powerful sleeping spell over the party, go in, get Améa, and leave before anyone would know any different. Then, Thomas would be able to use Améa against her family. The day of the party, Thomas had instructed Zane to come to his hideout.

"You'd better get this right, boy. If you screw this up, you will regret it." Thomas threatened from the hideout in South Australia. He'd given Zane an invisibility cloak, and specific instructions on how to perform the spell.

Zane disapparated from the hideout under the cloak, and reappeared about two streets away from the party. Security would probably be tight, so he'd have to be careful, even under the cloak. He remained hidden, and pulled out his wand underneath of the cloak. Aiming it in the direction of the party, he began whispering the incantations. His eyes scanned the crowd, and he spotted her.

Améa.

She looked so beautiful, and a tear began welling up in his eyes. I'm so sorry.... he thought, knowing what awaited her, but not able to do a thing about it.

Cassandra couldn't help but smile at the greeting that the older man gave Alex, chuckling quietly to herself while she tried to remain mostly invisible. She still wasn't sure where she stood with Adele, and realised this was a family matter, and she had already blundered her way into it. But Alex had pulled her back in before she could get away, and she was kind of happy that he had, upon seeing just how happy the man that was his father seemed to be. Not only to learn he had a son, but all the children and grandchildren seemed to make him light up. She didn't know what it was like to have so many family members herself, it had to be a good feeling.

"Oh, uh," Suddenly the redhead was pulled back into the fray a little more when her boyfriend decided to introduce her, and she smiled shyly as she offered a small wave, "Hi, it's great to meet you." She said with her English-Irish accent. She had to chuckle at the antics  of some of the kids while introductions were still being made, before then spotting the photographers who had decided to capture the moment.

"Ah, it's the Paparazzi!" The young woman joked, before joining her boyfriend in his poses, like they were some kind of famous couple or something. Nothing wrong with getting into the fun of things, right? She was laughing while she and Alex made faces, though there was some point where she really felt like she just wanted to sit down on the ground, and so she did so without thinking about it. It was nice soft grass, perfect for having a nap, definitely perfect for having a nap, and she pulled Alex closer so that she could curl up around him while this lovely gentle desire to rest made her feel warm and fuzzy.

"Pfft, why would I take back something that's true?" Arti snorted at Derrick, rolling her eyes a little before then laughing in agreement over his comment about being beaten by an older man. "You're totally being outshone here," The small brunette tutted as she teased him with a smirk and waggle of her brows, as though to suggest that he was doing rather poorly if Alan was doing better than him. As Susan reached them, she snickered a little at the other woman.

"Like Liam needs more dirt on people, no way, I need to get some for myself," Laughing as she skipped over to the main gathering, the petite woman didn't mind any of the potential glares she might get, or Adele probably being rather cross with her later because she had manage to capture a rather emotional shot of the woman. That was a keeper, for sure. But she also wanted to know who this man was who had entered the fray.

"Right? I mean, the older chap here must be the Patriarch, he's got the looks alright," Arti said to Derrick with a small nod while she continued to take a few photos. She knew when it was enough though, even as the students that Derrick spoke about were being jokers and pulling all kinds of funny poses, and she decided she might go get a drink when she suddenly dropped to her rear with a yawn. Who needed drinks when this ground was feeling fantastic! Flopping onto her side, Artemisia was happy to begin drifting off within moments.

"Afraid so," Stuart nodded in response to Kate's whine, giving her a small pat on the head, while also offering Mairead a wink, "No one's ever as burly or brawny as me!" He claimed with a large grin and a laugh. He didn't doubt that Rosie was looking stunning, considering what the woman was, she tended to have to dress down a lot of the time if she didn't want to get any attention. At that thought, his brow furrowed as he looked around for the Veela. "She not here yet?" He asked the teenager, wondering whether Rosmunda had dropped her off and had to do something before also joining the party.

"As for the Alandrey situation," Because their couple name had been long-known by those close to them since well before the Conference, "No idea. I guess it depends on how fast she can get him to mail those divorce papers through, how much of a stink Rachel's going to kick up over it, and how everything goes down with the Adagathguardes when they're told about it." It was a decent list, but Stu didn't doubt that Audrey would probably have a lot of that under control. More so, it would depend on when Alan got the nerve up to ask another woman whether she would marry him, and actually stay with him and be a proper partner. Stuart laughed though at Hazel's suggestion, before shaking his head a little.

"Matt would be spitting hellfire if you and I ever came to pass, though it sounds like you quite fancy this teacher of Hazel's. I hear he's a pretty good bloke, to be honest, but is that what you want?" The man asked Kate. He knew it was rough for her, her husband was there, but he wasn't. She had to be lonely.

"Funny, I was thinking of spiking some of the tea, mini Hatter," Stuart smirked and then chuckled, before winking at her, "But only my cups." At least then he'd be the only one getting boozy and dozey. And barely had the thought left his mind, had he sat down on a chair and rested his upper half on a table, yawning widely, before a snore could be heard from the man.

"Oh, oh - you're so~ going to pay for even agreeing let alone entertaining that thought!" The woman knew just how to grind at his gears, challenging him in such a way, how dare she!? It was almost like it was back at the restaurant, and the status war, and well. . . Just like everything else when it came to the two of them. A hand scratched through his beard as he smirked a bit at the wriggling eyebrow that had been sported by the brunette. "Fine, we'll go for round five-hundred and sixty-five after this unwedding." Or during, he wasn't sure yet that was going to be spur of the moment most likely. As it seemed a friend of Arti's popped up a light boastful pose was made by him. "My glorious idea, of course! Arti wishes she was this bold to suggest something." A hand pressed against Arti's shoulder as he lightly nudged her.

"Either the patriarch or I was -really- born in the wrong place." Thinking it over his head shook lightly. "Nope, never mind I'd never give up the burning curtains experience." That was a nice thought but he also found that sleeping? Yea, that was a pretty nice thought right about now too. As he stretched he yawned loudly with all the strength of the Spakcules within him! Before he could even notice Arti had went down into her own slumber his body leaned forward but tripped over her lightly having him sprawled out on his back against the grassy knoll. Head canted towards the side as he gave out a happy sigh of finding proper rest.

When even was the last time he had this good of a sleep? Besides in his office just before class.

Bethianna watched with her usual stony calm as the family met Rheldor. Seeing him and Alexander together was... bizarre. If she'd allowed herself feelings of the kind, she might have felt warm and fuzzy by the good deed she'd done. It wasn't fair to Rheldor to be cooped up in his little hide-away, on an island known only to Lillian and herself. He'd always been social, always loved family. Even if it wasn't her place to interfere, she was glad she'd done so.

Her senses picked a change in the air, a shift in a dimension unseen---Lillian? No. It didn't carry her signature and she couldn't fathom what else it might be. The wind did not flow as it should for what she could see, there was something here interfering. She frowned, all senses on edge as she tried to predict the impending crisis. Was she wrong? Were her senses failing? Bethianna didn't think so, but...

Then it happened. Beside Adele, David yawned. Seconds later, Adele flinched as though she'd been burned, Améa too carried the expression of sudden pain. Bethianna could feel it crawling over her skin too. Wizard magic. Potent and aggressive. The pain would grow as the curse progressed, she knew that, and---Alexander. Alexander would not survive such an assault.

Ignoring the prickling heat along her exposed skin, she sought the flow of magic---and in one fluid movement placed herself between the source that she could feel (but not see, damnit) and Alexander. The burning increased as she blocked, absorbing the wizarding magic. It was too much for her to handle alone, it needed to be dispersed. Magic crackled in flashes of yellow and green, her body rising with the excess of energy it held, copper ringlets looked as though they were on fire. Her body writhed in the assault, taking in the wizarding magic---converting it. A sleeping curse still, but gentler in nature.

Adele felt the change first as a cooling breeze, and promptly fell asleep. Améa allowed herself to sink to the ground, sleepily beckoning the triplets to curl in as she too closed her eyes to nap upon the grass. Bethianna's teeth clenched tight, all of her focus gone to ensuring that Alexander was spared the worst. In his pre-accepted state, even such a mild sleeping magic as the one she was sending out would be fatal if he took too much of it.

And when it was done, she fell to the ground in a quivering and broken heap, her strength gone almost entirely.

(Anna has simply changed the nature of the magic, the curse will still hit as intended---she's just made sure it doesn't kill Alex/damage any of the other BEF.)

A laughter took place from him as he watched how Rheldor reacted with each one of his family members that had started to come out of the woodworks. Boy, did he knew THAT feeling, suddenly realizing you have this clan of people who well... He didn't get as easy of a welcome as Rheldor did but it at least showed that the heart for family was there and vibrant. "Cassie is a bit of a shy and sneaky sort but one of the best people I've met by far." He wanted her to at least know he approved of her and that as enough for him in this moment. She was important enough to experience the joys and happiness as much as the rest of them and other situations don't change his mind on that belief.

The atmosphere started to go through a shift and his attention had been taken away from his family members over towards the quickly dropping Cassandra who seemed to be drifting to Wonderland quickly in dreams. Did she push herself making Caleb's costume? No, something else. . . His body felt as if an impending 'doom' was about as the dark pit looped around in his stomach. A flicker of red haired beckoned his sight and in what seemed a matter of seconds he could only see it seemingly unimpeded until a roaring torrent of energy started to circulate around the body drawing his attention fully towards it.

Bethianna

And one thing Alex knew more than anything in this world? The look of pain through the body and the way that she had writhed with this immense green energy throttling about her form caused his breathing to halt in shock. What was she protecting him from? Just as he tried to reach out towards her the effects of the lessened form of the sleeping curse vibrated through towards him and his hand rested against his chest as his vision started to blur and that had been on top of this sensation of burning that seemed to be vibrating on the outside of his body trying to work itself inwards.

It was as if his body were turning in on itself from the touch of the Wizarding magic that lingered though it had been weakened it was still impactful enough to course the vibrations inside of his very person. The last sight his eyes took before fully closing had been the fall of Bethianna impacting against the ground after having make a sacrifice, his body leaning back into dozed heap next to Cassandra.

Even while cuddled up towards the woman his body crunched inwards almost as if it were trying to endure some form of pain before finding its way towards a slumber that had not been intended.

It didn't take long.  Josie placed a hand over her mouth as she gave a wide yawn, smacking her lips as she peered around.  Suddenly she felt so tired.  Was it the heat of the fading summer?  Was it because she'd decided to keep back from everyone?  How much sleep had she even had the previous night?  She couldn't say at all.  She couldn't remember if she and been sleeping regularly or lacking recently, not that it really mattered.

Sleep. A nap sounded positively wonderful right then.  The sun was nice and warm, and everyone was having such a good time [at least it seemed so] and the people she was most eager to see were busy and caught up anyway.  No one would mind if she took a short doze, would they?  Josie found herself slumping toward the ground, unleashing another yawn to the world as her body curled up, head nuzzling onto her hand as she closed her eyes.  Just a quick nap would do.

Jezebel laughed when the camera happy pranksters bounced around to capture this moment in all it's glory, though to be honest she was actually happy that someone was taking photos, because this was definitely a momentous occasion. It didn't mean that she wasn't going to be asking Artemisia and Sparky questions later about just what was going on with the pair of them. It had certainly caught her attention that they'd attended together, as a matching costumed pairing. But it could wait for the moment. She was still reeling from it all herself as she leaned against Viktor, resting her head on his shoulder. And Alex and Cassandra were absolutely adorable as any young couple could be as well.

"At least I don't have to hire photographers," The young woman commented to the pair, before spying Josie as the girl slipped in, and waved to her. She would go over soon enough and say hello and catch up. Josie was one of the few people she still kept in good touch with, it helped that they both had strong connections to the school and that Viktor and Josie sometimes worked together in the Hospital Wing. Glancing at Viktor as he murmured to her, Jez laughed quietly, "It's not a proper party of ours without something crazy happening, right?" If only she knew...

It didn't occur to Jezebel that there was something not quite right in the air, until she felt a sharp sting of sorts, and winced a little. She'd not been on the wrong end of Wizarding magic for a long while, and the few brief moments where Bethianna was suddenly fired up and changing the course of things only so that those of the Sorceraic blood wouldn't suffer went by so quickly that Jezebel could barely take the time to think about what was going on before she felt sleep overcoming her mind while she crumpled to the ground.

There was just one small thing that didn't allow her to completely pass out right away, however, something  that lingered on the edge of her mind, setting off alarm bells - as faint as they were. But she was too far gone to prevent it. She couldn't move, all there was left was a desperate thought as she slipped into the void of slumber.

Maksim had puffed out his chest when the man had told him he was a strong defender, and the little boy said, "Yeah! I'm gonna be super strong like Papa one day, just you watch, and be the best defender ever." And with that, Maks quickly scampered over to the side of his Papa and sister, the boy taking Kat's hand and looking up at his Papa. "Right Papa? I'll be tall and strong just like you."

"Yes, Maksim. One day you will, I'm sure," Vladimir indicated with a small smile on his face. The smile quickly dropped from his face however, as he felt a strange sensation pass over him. Magic, yes, and it was disconcerting, as the man began to notice people dropping off to sleep. The urge to rest was growing strong within his own mind, Vladimir watching as Maksim and Ekaterina plopped down onto the grass and let themselves rest on their backs, eyes closed and swiftly asleep. Vladimir allowed himself the opportunity to sit next to them, waving his hand in front of him, attempting to ward off the notion of sleep but it was too late.

He too fell back and found himself lulled into a slumber that he could not stop.

Vladimir watched the proceedings with his face blank, his red eyes focused upon Rheldor and the other introductions. It was somewhat disconcerting; nothing could remain so happy and carefree for long, it never worked that way, at least in Vladimir's experience. Disappointment and tragedy would be rife, it always was, and Vladimir was simply waiting for some sort of disaster to happen, without making it apparent in his facial features and within his very thoughts.

It was as he observed the triplets and Améa that he saw a look of pain flash across her face, and Vladimir could feel a strange sensation flow through him. Sleep?

No.

His pupil's narrowed, and the man quickly tapped into his dhampiric blood, fighting the urge to sleep, watching as Améa fell asleep, the triplets curling up with her. Everyone was collapsing and falling asleep, and Vladimir felt a sharp sensation go through his mind. No, he could not sleep. Not now.

Vladimir went down onto one knee, his brow furrowing as he tried to fight the sleep, watching as not even Jezebel and her family were capable of fighting the spell. His dhampiric blood could only hold out for so long - he was not a vampire, who needed no sleep at all. His own brother had collapsed, and Vladimir knew he was not too far from it himself.

Damn.

Vladimir's eyes closed, unable to hold out from giving in to the need for rest.

Viktor couldn't help the fanged grin that came to his face at Jez's reply. "Aye, you got a point there," he agreed, turning to look at the gathering with a smile on his face. It quickly changed to a look of concern, however, when he heard Jezebel wince. He had been about to ask her what was the matter, when the matter became painfully clear as people began to drop to sleep in front of his eyes.

"What the f- ack," Viktor grimaced to himself, hand going to his head as he felt the sensation of sleep trying to lull him away. The children, Jez, everyone! He couldn't sleep, he had to protect them, and make sure they were all right. He crumpled down to his knees, his hand still on his head as he tried to force his blue eyes to remain open, his teeth gritting together as though that would hold off the spell. He muttered every counter he could think of, but it was too late for that.

No, no, no. He looked around and saw his twin trying to fight the urge to sleep too, but Viktor barely had a chance to send his brother a thought. He had always been the weaker of the two of them, and he fell forward, eyes shutting, just barely catching the sound of a thought from Jezebel.

Oh god.

Lei.

"Cassandra is one of the fair ones," Lorelei said quietly to Rheldor, leaning in closely, before giggling and then stepping back to bounce over to Aiden again and hold his hand, swinging their joined hands back and forth, as innocently as any young child would. Why were people giving him strange looks? He had barely even said anything so far, and certainly nothing that could be considered offensive, right? She certainly didn't think so. Ah well, it would be alright, and she patted the back of the teenager's hand with her free one, as though to reassure him that all was well. She would protect him.

However, there, on the edge of perception, the young child felt something and her attention shifted outward, past the party. There was something there, something happening, moving through the air on a plane unseen, and as the first small sting of Wizard magic hit her, the girl quickly closed her eyes and concentrated while her hand was still holding Aiden's. She used his connection to Wizard blood and magic in order to create a kind of shield of sorts, before reaching out once again. In her perception's peripheral, she was barely aware of Bethianna's intervention of what was occurring, knowing that the woman had a soft spot for Alex, had saved his life times before and would do so again. It meant the young girl did not have to concentrate on that, and could work on attempting to pinpoint the origin of the curse.

Essentially, the young girl knew that what she was doing, the magic she was manipulating and creating was not meant to be attempted by someone young. But the Lady Anna could only do so much, and Grandmiere was not here, nor Flora even. And everyone else had been struck unaware. She barely had a brief glimpse, before she felt the effect of the changed curse once Bethianna was done, and the girl realised that she wasn't going to be able to remain awake for long, which would leave everyone vulnerable to whatever was going to happen. A decision was made within her mind, and she heard the echo of her mother's plea, but it was an easy choice.

To save the others from whatever was going on, she would have to change the curse even more, and take the full force of it upon herself.

Still, even as she struggled to stand, still clinging to Aiden and protecting him, she trembled and tried to hold on while the air whirled around her. Lorelei's breathing grew heavier, she was waiting for the hidden culprit to move in closer... just a bit closer... just a bit more... It was only when her mind received a brief flash of what she'd been searching for, that she could hold on no longer, and the girl croaked soft words to Aiden.

"It's Zane... tell them..." Lorelei then released his hand and gasped aloud as her power vacuumed the full force of the sleeping curse - effectively turning it into a sleeping death curse - and her small body was knocked back with the force of magic that was sucked from everyone who had been affected, throwing her a small distance away like a rag doll, lifeless and pale. She barely caught the echo of her mother's horrified screaming as Jezebel woke immediately and scrambled to her daughter's side, only to stare in terror as she watched the lifeless body begin to age before her very eyes.

He was in the eye of the storm, Lorelei's hand grasping his---watching as guests around them sank to the grass and fell asleep. All except the woman who he didn't know, fear gripping him as he found himself deep in the unknown. This.. this wasn't right. What was happening to that woman? He tore his gaze away from Bethianna as Lorelei too began to shake, the wind seeming to pick up to a violent swirl just for them. His hair, badly in need of cutting (or so Cass kept saying) whipping around his face.

"Zane? Who is---?"

It sounded like the last seconds of a television switching off, the dim white noise before dead silence. The sudden, inexplicable void of sensing something was not there, that only seconds ago, was. It sucked the sound and colour out of the world, a brief glitch in time as Lorelei was torn from his hand. He tried to follow as she landed on the grass, shocked and shaking legs would not carry him. He sat on his knees, and wanted to go home. Maybe Kate was right? This family was... far too complicated.

The red haired woman was beginning to rise, as guests slowly woke from their sudden lethargy. Her face was haggard, her hair streaked with grey. She looked twenty, fifty years older than she had just moments ago---and her limbs looked frail, barely strong enough to hold her steady. But she carried herself still with tired grace, moving to kneel beside Lorelei.

"Fool girl," muttered Bethianna. She knew exactly what Lorelei had done, and been in no position to stop it. What child believed they could take that level of energy unto themselves? Dispersed among the guests, perhaps they would sleep a while... a day, a year. A century, who knew? But to take that magic entire and manipulate it as she did? Bethianna frowned, brushing her fingertips across Lorelei's cold, pale face for a better read on her. "She lives. As close to death as one can be with air and blood still moving, a curse turned upon herself to sleep until woken---but how to wake her, I do not know."

All that was clear was that it would take more than an alarm clock to rouse Lei from this state.

"She---she said Zane did this." Aiden blurted it out, hoping it meant something to someone. The look he got from Adele, who was now distraught in her husband's arms, cut like a knife. He ducked away from it, shrinking back as far as he could.

Améa, who was quickly realising that this had been an attack on her, not Lorelei, clutched the triplets tight. Her husband had done this? Why?

And from above, as natural wind blew through the leaves above, a sound like sweet silver bells rang with rhythmic delight. Laughter? Aiden looked up, spotting a girl perched upon the thickest branch---barefoot with long, soft brown hair, and grey eyes. Her white dress drifted gently in the light wind, her laughter continued. Sweet, but somehow dark. Nevertheless, the girl seemed very amused by this turn of events.

The curse was working just as expected. Or, at least that's what Zane thought. What came next, he really should have expected. Of course. Améa's family reacted badly to wizard magic. If Zane had been in control of his own body, he would have never used magic, of course. His uncle though was a bit more sadistic. The bad part is, he probably knew about it too being married to Adele. Zane watched though, one by one, as everybody started going down, but this woman seemed to be taking in his magic. Harvesting it, perhaps? He wasn't sure. All he knew was once she was out of the way, he could do what it was he came here to do against his will.

Zane began moving closer, slowly under the cloak. He couldn't be revealed, even for a moment, in case someone wasn't completely out yet. He began slipping by a young girl, and a man by her side, They had not yet succumbed to the spell. This girl seemed to be having a much harder time of it all, and what she had said softly, Zane being close enough to hear though, horrified him. Somehow, she knew it was him. She said his name. And then, she faded.

Dear God. He'd killed her!

The blood curling scream echoed out, and Zane began to panic. Everybody was waking up. This girl had done something.

This. Was. Bad.

Zane began crying, but he had to fight back the tears. He caught a glimpse of Améa, clutching three children. Even in this moment, it was beautiful. She had questioned what kind of mother she would be, and Zane could see it now. In his mind their children running around a yard, with her cat in her arms as she chased them around. Family dinner around the table.

He shook his head. None of that would be possible. Ever. Not now. Especially if this girl was dead. She was family. Zane had killed someone in her family. There was never any going back.

Zane disapparated. He couldn't go home even if he wanted. He was under strict orders to go straight back to Thomas. His home would be searched first for him anyways. He'd have to wait a bit, and then put some protective charms around it. That was if Thomas didn't kill him first.

When he arrived at the hideout, he collapsed down to the floor in front of Thomas.

"Where is Améa?" He asked, standing up from his seat.

"Eat a di-" He could not finish what he was saying though, as Thomas had put his foot against Zane's throat, pushing him down to the ground. He held him down with his boot, and pointed his wand at Zane.

"You failed me. Crucio."

As she woke up, Adele found herself tight in the arms of David, who had roused just seconds before her---enough to see that Lorelei was not okay, and hold her back as others rushed in to help. She fought against him, but he'd been here and done this before. Adele needed to calm down before she could help, and she was anything but calm now. Aiden's words made her seethe with sudden anger.

"Zane? Zane is behind this?" she growled between her teeth. The suddenl laughter drew her attention too, fire blazing to an inferno inside her. Flora. What bloody timing. The girl jumped down from her branch, landing so soft on the grass it barely whispered. With a smirk, Flora sauntered over to Améa, leaning in to peer down at Améa with that angelic porcelain face.

"Yes, but also no." Flora sang. "After all, he did come here for someone, did he not?" she turned a lopsided grin at Améa. "You thought it would be this easy to escape your mistake? I thought you more clever, Ruella. But..." Flora sighed dramatically. "You chose him in the first place, so we cannot expect much."

"I think you need to leave." Adele snapped stiffly. Flora merely laughed, turning around whimsically on one heel to face her.

"Do you deny your own part in this, Aellra?" Flora laughed. "At least Ruella can say she did not know what she was getting into bed with. You did. You knew full well the danger Thomas posed to your children, and still you allowed it. Why are you so surprised he should succeed? You invited this." Flora bent down, picking up a paper flower that had blown over from the table settings. It delighted her for about ten seconds, twirled between her fingers and then placed behind her ear. And she tossed an expression of deep mock sympathy down to Bethianna, shaking her head.

"Oh, but it is you I am most disappointed in, Anna." Flora sighed. "All your words and warnings, I thought you better than this. Such lectures you gave on the importance of objectivity, clinical observation, and what is it that has left you here, desperately clinging to the last of your own self?" Flora turned, and threw that adorable yet cruel smile at Alexander. "A boy. This fragile thing is worth so much of yourself, Anna? Frankly, I do not see the appeal." Flora shrugged, flicking a hand to wave ribbons of light wind through Bethianna's greyed locks.

"Death does not come easily to us, Alexander," Flora said sweetly. "Only to fools who surrender, and those who allow themselves to be drained beyond their ability. But death is not the only way to end. There is also being trapped, and forgotten... cursed," Flora nodded down to Lorelei's lifeless body. "And unable to wake. A natural waking will not come for her. It will require power. Power far beyond anything one alone could provide."

Flora levelled a gaze at Jezebel.

"There will be costs. And conditions, of course." she said smoothly. "I guarantee no success. It is quite possible that in attempting to wake her, we drain our own selves beyond the point of no return. But you will not..." Flora frowned at Adele, Améa, the children, and the weakened Bethianna. "...Not be anywhere close to what is required as you are. You will need me. And Lillian. And a great deal of preparation if this is to have even a chance of success."

"NO!!" The dread had already been within the young woman as she'd gone down, and so as the curse was ripped away painlessly, she was alert and already starting to move as her gaze swept the area, pinpointing on the still lifeless-appearing body of her daughter. Her babygirl. She'd sensed what she was about to do, but had been powerless to stop it, to prevent this from occurring, and as she scrambled on all fours, arriving at Lorelei's side in order to lift her head slightly from the ground, she half-sobbed. Her throat was too choked up to be able to say anything as Bethianna examined the girl, and her hands shook as she watched Lorelei's small limp body grow.

"She's... aging! What's going on?!" Jezebel asked hoarsely, only to have Flora speaking about the actions and subsequent consequences that had occurred due to each of them. She didn't even need to point out Jezebel's mistake in all this. The young woman had thought she could have a large affair in an open area, had thought that there were enough people around that no one would be stupid enough to try something. And now her daughter was near death, and aging to the point where her small frock was beginning to tear at the seams. Quickly, she tore her cloak off and wrapped it over Lorelei, who was losing her childhood right before her eyes. How much? Was she going to age to the point that Bethianna had seemed to? Beyond??

It seemed, however, that Lorelei's strange growing had slowed and then perhaps stopped at what appeared to be an adolescent state, and Jez breathed at least one small sigh of relief. Of course, her scream had also drawn the attention of her father, who had stormed over as quickly as possible, only to freeze in his shoes at the sight of Lorelei.

"What on Earth happened?" The man near demanded with a slight shake in his voice. Few things really shook him, but he was still healing from his own wounds that were only a few years old, and Lei was his eldest grand child. Jezebel didn't want him involved in this, however. It wasn't going to help, what was required was something more than even the Minister of Magic could do.

"Dad, you need to leave this to us, please," Jezebel croaked quietly, "You can't help with this. I'm sorry." She didn't look at the man, who took a step back at her tone and the absolutism in her words. He knew it was a thing that only their kind could deal with, but... it hurt that he couldn't help. Still, a nod was given, before Stuart stepped back further, and made his way slowly to a table and chairs that wasn't too far away, but kept him out of their hair for whatever they had to do. He could also observe others and make sure they didn't get involved, beginning with Artemisia and Derrick, tapping them on the shoulder and gesturing for them to move away. He did the same with Aiden, helping the poor lost kid up to his feet to lead back to the table as well.

There the man sat and ran his hands down his face with a long sigh, a tired look in his face.

"What kind of cost and consequences?" Jezebel asked Flora quietly, her blue gaze turning toward the girl. She knew those words couldn't be taken lightly. She also didn't want her daughter to be stuck in this state forever either. How did she know they could all even fix this at all? She was aware that Lei had overextended, she'd done it to save Améa. For that, a part of the young mother was proud of Lorelei's courage and well-meaning. But she wished there could have been some other way.
