Welcome to Tallygarunga, an original roleplay set in the Harry Potter universe. Set in present-day Australia, tensions are high between the Ministry of Magic and the only Ministry-run wizarding school in the country. Become like the other snooty private schools? Not a chance.

Originally established in August 2006, Tallygarunga prides itself on an inclusive and active community. Once part of the Tally family, always part of the Tally family. Whether you're here for the first time, the thousandth time, or returning after a long time---welcome home.

Taking Flight

Halfblood Human ☆ He/Him

He had waited a long time for this.

With the Firebolt in his hands and fresh grass underfoot, Orion stalked into the Quidditch pitch. He inhaled deeply and glanced up at the stands. For whatever reason, he felt like he was home. He loved it here. He had never felt more at home at this school than when he stood here.

Grasping his broom with both hands, he looped one leg over the slim frame and took off. The vertical climb was almost second nature to him now and he hovered for a few minutes about halfway up. Then he started doing laps.

It was so easy to fly around the stands, darting in and out of the beams. Anything really to get him back up and flying. It wasn't something he was able to do much at home being that people on broomsticks would be rather visible over jungle trees or in the mountains. The area he'd lived in was quite populated.

He finally stopped after a few minutes, realized he was breathing hard and let out a loud, whooping laugh that seemed to echo through the stands. Yep. A boy like him could really, really get used to this.

Halfblood Human ☆ He/Him

It was, admittedly, a rather nice day. For Australia, it was fairly cool, and there was a nice breeze going. Unfortunately, in Australia, fairly cool was still very hot, at least to a boy raised in cold and drizzly England. He didn't have any classes that day so, he thought, why not go for a flight?

After retrieving his broom, a well-cared for Firebolt, he made his way to the Quidditch pitch. As he approached, he could see someone, probably a student, flying laps around the Pitch. The Care of Magical Creatures Professor took a moment to grab a Quaffle from the chest, before tucking it under his arms. He waited until the boy had stopped flying laps, before quicking off, approaching the boy.

"Care for a quick game?" he asked, holding out the Quaffle towards the boy.

Orion had been flying in and out of the stands when he realized he wasn't alone. He pulled back his speed and slowly flew down to where someone was standing on the edge of the pitch. For a moment, he found himself wondering who it was. When he got closer, he knew. It was a Professor, of all people. But, not one of the older ones. Nope, this was one of the younger ones. He wouldn't want one of the older professors out here risking hip fractures or heart attacks, for one. But he also knew that some of the best Quidditch players in the world were old. So, hindsight was 20/20.

"You mean a game of catch, right?" Orion called back. He was still hovering above, the broom shifting left to right, as though trying to wiggle free of being held still. If someone was going to offer him a Quaffle, there was no way he wouldn't go for a game. No way. Any sort of experience was good experience. And Orion thrived in the air as much as he did in the water. He was itching to grab the Quaffle and start throwing it around, see if his aim had gotten any better.

Alic grinned, raising a bit higher into the air, so he and Orion were eye to eye. He tossed the rubber Quaffle into the air a handful of times, catching it carefully each time. He hadn't had a good game of Quidditch in years, if ever. So he couldn't wait to get moving if the boy agreed.

"Of course! Or we could try and get it into the goal hoops, like a Chasers only game. Or I could grab the Snitch if you'd rather?" he offered, tilting his head towards the trunk of Quidditch supplies.

Why not? Any sort of flying was good by Orion's standards. And he hadn't had a good fly since he had been on holiday. Besides, this got him to shake off the broom rust and actually be able to compete on the Bourke house team this year. Wouldn't that be the coolest?

"Nah, we can keep it simple," Orion said. With just the two of them, having actual target practice would be fun. But maybe it'd be easier to shake off the rust first and then he'd be up for more than a challenge. "I'm good with a game of catch."

Alic tilted his head at his student, brow furrowing as he tried to remember his name. Ry... Ryan? Rin? O-Orion, that was it! He switched the Quaffle from hand to hand as he waited for the boy's answer, grinning at the thought of a game of... pretty much anything.

"Alright then." He grinned, before tossing the ball to the boy, careful to do a rather tame throw until he could tell what the boy was capable of.

Orion caught the quaffle with ease. He was used to catching things, even if it was just a regular Frisbee or a tennis ball. Still, he circled around a bit, tossing the quaffle from hand to hand. And then he tossed it back down to the professor.

"My muggle mum can throw it better than that," Orion called down. He didn't want to taunt anyone, but surely the professor was better at throwing than that. His mum could only throw tantrums and not even well. "And she doesn't even understand Quidditch."

Alan grinned as he saw the Bourke boy catch the Quaffle easily, leaning to turn his broom slightly. It had been a long time since he'd been able to have a proper flight, and he hadn't realized how much he'd missed the feel of the wind in his hair. There was still an alarming feeling of weightlessness, a niggling worry that he'd end up being dumped off his broom, but years of flying had taught him to ignore it.

His hand shot out, grasping the Quaffle by the divets in the sides. He tossed it from hand to hand, grinning up at Orion. Then, without warning, he flew down a short distance, before lobbing the Quaffle up at the boy with the throw of a Chaser.
