When Stuart had spoken with Adele last, and she asked him if they could have a family dinner in the near future, the man had to admit he was a little surprised. The history of family dinners with the L'Arine folk had a history of being... well, colourful, if resulting in some awkwardness or mild disaster. But she'd hinted at something important that she needed to tell the children, and so he was only happy to set aside an afternoon, as well as host it at his place. Adele was still avoiding her own house, and the school wasn't exactly the most private setting for telling one's family some important news.

About halfway through the day, the man had decided it would be a perfect evening for a barbecue as well, and so had set about making up the shopping list, and taking Améa out with him to get the things they'd need to make up a couple of salads, as well as get some steaks and chicken wings and skewers, and of course the ingredients for his amazing home-made burger patties.

Améa was gradually beginning to look healthier again. Her complexion had colour in it, and her eyes had brightened slightly and hair was slowly regaining some of it's gloss. He had no doubt that a lot of it contributed to the time she had been getting to spend with the triplets, and Nika in particular, when Jezebel brought them to visit - which was almost every day. Mary had also been spending time getting to know the granddaughter she'd never got to meet.

Currently, the man was setting out the patties, ready to cook, while looking over the counter to see if there was much else that needed to be prepared, while reaching for his bottle of beer to take a sip as Faireth circled his ankles. The place felt lived in again, with the arrival of Améa there, and he had to admit he enjoyed having the company. He'd assured her that he could handle the rest after the salads were done, and that she could do whatever she wanted while they waited for the others to arrive. Cecil wasn't hanging around the island counter, which meant the Border Collie was probably following her around, having taken to her quickly.

Making sure the food was covered, the man then opened the sliding door to the patio and made sure that there were plates and cutlery set on the tables set under the shade, before counting the chairs to make sure there were enough. Adele had said to have an extra. Though Lorelei had then said a couple of days ago when he saw her that there should be two. He went with the latter, better safe than sorry.

Admittedly, it was nice to have been able to spend at least half the day in a t-shirt and jeans as well. As much as he liked the feel of a well-cut suit, sometimes it was good to be able to relax. Jezebel had been trying to convince Améa to change up her wardrobe a little as well, though she didn't pressure her sister, only gave her the optional clothing styles so that they were there if she did want to try them. All in all, they'd just been trying to make Améa feel a part of the family, and in a way try to make up for what she'd missed out on for so long. The man really hoped that they were at least giving her something.

About to take another swig of his beer, the man then heard the doorbell, and raised his brows. That wasn't Jezebel and Viktor, they'd have just let themselves in. Which meant it was probably Adele, he supposed, and he turned and headed back through the house to answer the door.

"Welcome to the den of no return!" The man bellowed as he slowly opened the door, clearly trying to be funny, before properly opening it with a large grin on his features, to greet the arrivals.

Maybe she should have warned the children. Maybe they wouldn't enjoy finding out they had a surprise uncle over a "casual family dinner". The more she thought about it, the more it sounded like something her mother would do and that concerned her. Caleb knew, though, and for once the reluctant and moody boy was eagerly following along behind her. That didn't seem fair, really. He'd rejected Jezebel, David, and almost every other person who came into her life.

As they walked up the driveway, she saw Amea. Dressed in her usual Wednesday Addams-esque long sleeves (gods knew when they were going to break her of that), she was busy carrying feed and water white Cecil the border collie followed at her heels. It was an odd sight, and even from a distance Adele could see that Amea's back was straighter and she looked stronger. If only she'd left the girl with Stuart earlier.

Like twenty-five years ago, earlier.

At the door, she wasn't sure what to do. In most cases she would usually just barge in, Alan hated that about her. But this was Stuart, and she wasn't here in the middle of the night to dress him down on how unfair it was that she had to teach History of Magic because he'd been stupid enough to approve long-service leave for the professor. Just because she could teach didn't mean she wanted to.

So she rang the doorbell. And waited, awkwardly.

"Hey." Adele lifted a hand in a weird half-wave. Caleb looked up at Stuart with his serious and very critical glare. "You sure you're okay with hosting this? You know how these things usually go..."

Nudged by Adele's hand, Caleb huffed his way into the house, and she followed. She was dressed casually, but elegantly. Jeans and a nice blouse in deep blue. She was also sober.

"Thank you, though. For setting this up." She seemed worried. Her gaze slid around the room, as if trying to detect any hint of Lillian. Even though she knew she wouldn't get one until the woman materialised and started causing havoc. Or perhaps Bethianna would drop in instead and weigh in with what was bound to be a brutal opinion of how to deal with an unaccepted male sorceror.

"Amea looks better already." she added. "I didn't think she would be up and about yet. Goodness knows I don't want to be."

With the door opened, the man stepped aside to allow the guests in, offering a grin and very man-to-man nod to Caleb as the boy passed him and into the house, acknowledging that he was the main man in Adele's life, before placing a gentle hand on Adele's shoulder and giving her a warm smile and chuckle at the warning. Oh, did he ever know how these things tended to turn out. He was pretty sure that the triplets still hadn't forgiven him for making them go to the last gathering with Adele's family, when it had gone tits up for everyone involved.

"It's not another surprise birthday, is it? Otherwise, you're going to have to give me a little more time to see if Mum's got a cake handy," The man smirked and offered a wink, referring to that same night that Del had decided to throw a birthday dinner for herself and told no one. Looking back now there were a couple of amusing notes there, but it had been a mess at the time.

"I honestly don't mind, it's nice to see the place get some use. I've been so used to living here on my own and basically in and out the door or hanging out with just Cecil, that it's nice to get some life here. I can't actually remember the last time I had a dinner or barbecue with guests," Stuart had to think for a moment, it really was difficult to pinpoint the last get-together. Jezebel tended to host a lot of the family things now, and well considering the place she had, it was no wonder. It easily had room for their entire crew of lunatics.

Once inside, Stuart then led through toward the kitchen, which opened out to the patio, setting his drink on the bench as he grabbed a plate of snacks to take outside.

"We've got all kinds of drinks in the fridge, whatever you'd like, Caleb," Stu addressed the boy with another nod, and then glanced at Del, "Got both non-alcoholic and alcoholic wine too, so whatever you're fancying today." The man took the platter out the opened door to the large patio table and set it down before looking to the other two, "Make yourselves at home. Have a seat, or throw a ball, Cecil's probably following Améa around, he's been stuck to her almost like glue since she moved in." The man chuckled, returning to grab his beer.

"She's doing great actually," The man said regarding the young woman who now had a place in the house, "I think the visits from Jez and the kids are helping with that a lot too. She's getting to spend a lot of time with Nika and the other kids, getting to know them. And Mary's been visiting a lot, spending time, feeding her up," He chuckled, "She's actually thinking about seeing if Améa wants to train with her as a wildlife ranger and rescuer at the reserve." Stuart gave a small nod with he spoke quietly, "Give her something that's just hers, since she seems to have a natural knack with animals. And it'll give her the opportunity to gain some independence and create a life where Nika might be able to live with her in time."

Once she arrived, Améa was given three days grace period. Long enough to adjust to her new surroundings, settle in, and start to accept what was happening. She'd spent all three of those days in the bedroom, nursing her broken heart. Although she knew she'd made the right choice, she missed her husband. On the second day, Mary had opened the bedroom door wide enough for Cecil to enter, and had come back later to find Améa hugging the poor dog for dear life and sobbing into his fur.

On the morning of the fourth day, she'd been woken to the door swinging wide and Mary bustling in to open the blinds and let fresh air in. There was only so long you could wallow in sadness, Mary had said. It was time for breakfast and there was work to be done. Améa had followed in a daze, and was immediately given a list of responsibilities around the property. Améa had two legs and two arms, and she could make herself useful, Mary said. Besides, it would take her mind off the pain.

And it did, mostly. Améa had always been better with animals than she was with people. Even the more skittish animals had accepted her easily, and she would spend long hours standing among them. Or sitting. Sometimes talking to them in her native language, other times just silent.

She didn't speak much with Mary or Stuart, or even Jezebel and the children when they visited. She'd never been one to talk much anyway, and her silence was not an uncomfortable one. Three times a day (if not more) Mary ensured she was well-fed, placing food in front of her until Améa put her hands up in the signal to stop.

She went to bed on time. She woke up early. Though she still cried herself to sleep, the routine was stable. She was starting to enjoy the environment.

Visits from Jezebel and the children were treasured, but still exhausting for her. Being with the animals gave her time to unwind and sort out her thoughts, and she carried out her duties with utmost diligence.

Which was what she was doing when she looked up to see her mother and Caleb making their way toward the house. Was it that time already? She would need to change. She had manure on her heavy farm boots. A flash of panic flooded her system... they were here and she wasn't ready. It was the same panic she'd felt when Zane returned home before she had dinner on the table, before she'd cleaned herself up ready.

Tucking the bag of feed under her arm, she began to sprint back for the house. She had to get there, get ready, she could not disappoint Stuart. This was a family dinner, they were all counting on her. She ran, crashing through to the driveway from a side paddock. Not watching where she was going, she fell straight into a narrow irrigation ditch that ran alongside the driveway.

Just in time for someone (not her mother and brother, thank goodness) to see the splash.

Viktor had some work to do at the school and said he'd meet with them at Stuart's house later, and so Jezebel had made sure that the kids were all ready early - because even for intelligent little Sorceresses and a Dhampir, they were still children, and still liked to run around and spill things and just be a little bit difficult on occasion. Once she was certain that everyone was good, the lot of them held hands and blinked themselves to the front of the property, Jezebel, Lorelei, and the triplets, all in a row. It'd have made those classic family movies with all the kids proud.

They also arrived just in time to witness a flash of black hair and hear a splash as someone fell into the ditch at the side of the road, and Jezebel quickly released Lorelei's hand in order to jog over, concern in her features.

"Are you alri-... Ruella?" The woman blinked, before then smiling warmly and carefully stepping to the edge of the ditch in her heeled boots, making sure not to slip in as she offered a hand to the other woman in order to help her out. The children, meanwhile had also wandered over, curious as to what was going on.

"Mamiere, why are you down there?" Nika asked innocently, the girl's head tilted to the left slightly as her wide blue eyes blinked at the woman who was in the ditch.

"Come on, let's get you out of there. Helping Nana Mary out?" Jezebel asked lightly, nodding to the bag of feed that was now mostly soaked through as it sat in the shallow muddy water. There wasn't much point trying  to rescue it now, though no doubt some wildlife would come by at night to nibble away at whatever was there. Still, with a thought, Jezebel managed to make sure that it didn't remain sat down there, not wanting to risk any animals injuring themselves by slipping down. The bag levitated out and ended up sat near the gravel road instead.

Behind her, Jezebel could already hear the children laughing as they chased Cecil and he chased them back in whatever game they were playing as Lei began to herd the younger ones toward the house.

That 'special day' rolled around the corner much faster than the young man had expected and while he had gushed towards Cassandra about how excited he was for it on the day in question there was a pit of nervousness. He was at least with a few of the people there but would the others like him? It should be interesting at best but he knew he asked for this and he was one to prefer a Band-Aid to be ripped off quick and in one smooth motion.

Alexander wore bleached jean's, a black shirt, and pretty casual sneakers. He wore his best stuff he had around which wasn't much due to other home issues that took his mind away from doing laundry too often. Slung over his back had been Sapphire like usual as well as a smaller guitar case clutched in his hands set for a young child's size. After all, he did promise Caleb he'd bring it by. Promises were something the young man valued in keeping and he couldn't break it for anything. In his opposite hand dangled a backpack that had a few of his medicines but. . .When was it -this- heavy? He packed it last night and could have sworn it was lighter, but maybe it was just the fatigue of getting up and worrying so much on the travel to the location that made everything seem more cumbersome.

"This seems to be the address. . . " A glance of confirmation about the area occurred as his eyes took in the massive house and how well kept it was and his mouth slowly dropped open. "Man. . .Maybe I should become a Minister this house is freaking -ginormous.-" Slight chuckle escaped from the man as he shook his head lightly still stuck in a moment of amazement until he saw a gathering of people near what seemed to be some kind of driveway and into what seemed to be an irrigation pit. The sudden impact of water from earlier made a bit of sense now that he thought about it.

He drew closer towards the edge of the ditch and hung over a bit with his blue eyes examine the person down inside who seemed to have taken more than just a tumble. He didn't recognize the woman from appearance but from what Adele had given him in terms of information and considering that he knew what Jezebel looked like from TV appearance, next jump meant this had to be Améa. "Everything alri-". At first, Alex hadn't noticed too well who else specifically had been gathered around it until he trailed his gaze from Améa towards the woman who had offered to help her. That face he knew and his heart nearly stopped in realization and the inner fan boy was threatening to burst outwards.

'Even knowing it's Jezebel that I'm related to the inner fan in me is still trying to jump out! Calm down! Sheesh. Stop looking like such a dork, Alexander. Say -something-'  His mind rattled off towards itself hoping that no one would actually hear that. Fat chance on that, he knew it.

He gave one final glance around the area to notice the children running around with what seemed to be a cute little puppy! Hopefully the dog didn't smell the scent of cat on him and hate him for it. Didn't take him long to notice that one of the children had been familiar, which was Lei, as a brief smile struck on his face then turned his gaze back towards the two women. "I'm, uh, Alexander. Haha, not really the start I expected to meeting anyone. " Even with the warm smile and gentle laughter that escaped his lips it was more bashful than anything. "Is. . . Adele inside already? Probably a bit easier to have her explain than me." He still hadn't be used to the names and the culture or anything here.

One poorly-placed step and Améa was face-first in the mud. Soaked all the way up to her collar, she stood up in the ditch with a wary look in her eye. Jezebel she knew, but what was this other one? Nika was also looking down at her, concerned. No---she couldn't have that. Nika needed to see her being strong not.. a drowned ditch rat.

"It was not a place good for putting feet." Améa answered in her usual awkward English. Of course that was an understatement. Jezebel lifted the bag of feed out of the water, and Améa allowed her to help her up to the driveway. At least Cecil had been clever enough to miss the ditch, she thought. Cecil did not enjoy bathtime, and there was certainly going to be a bathtime once she got into the house.

"Mrs Mary does feed many." She added. "It is hard for making her stop." No matter how many times they'd asked, Améa wouldn't call Mary anything aside from "Mrs Mary". She was unsure so far about calling her "Nana" as her other grandchildren did, she didn't yet feel that she had earned that right. She also rather formally referred to Stuart as "Mr Blair". There was a sense that she wasn't quite comfortable yet, and given her track record with Adele---it would be some time before she could truly accept that they weren't going anywhere.

Even so, when Stuart was home, she did lurk around corners and find reasons to be in the rooms near him. Her own weirdly stalkerish way of getting closer.

Now out of the ditch, she turned the full brunt of her sharp blue-eyed glare on Alex. It was that same cautious and critical look that Caleb often had.

"What is this one for here?" she asked, turning her attention to Jezebel. "I do not know it. This... Alexander person."

She folded her soaking arms, her shoulders straightening. That sharp glimmer of power was definitely back, and though it was weak it gave life back to one of the forces that had driven her all her life: the protection of Adele.

"I think not for you to enter before knowing what is the intent." she said. "What business with Mamiere do you have?"

"It surely wasn't," Jezebel agreed with Améa's statement, assisting her sister out from the ditch and chuckling as the triplets escaped Lorelei's herding in order to return to where the interesting things were going on. There was a new person here, and he was like them. Though Jezebel was just as curious and wary as Améa as she listened to the other woman, while regarding the newcomer. If anything, he did seem rather harmless, but with Sollozzo on the loose they couldn't be too careful, and she lifted a brow as her gaze fell squarely onto him as well.

"He thinks very loudly," Violetta said, before giggling softly as she watched him. It was Lorelei who made things even more confusing, when she ran up and straight past the small family group, so that she could practically throw herself  at the young man in a hug.

"I don't know him either," Jez responded to Améa's question, but then nodded toward Lei, who seemed to be utterly thrilled that he was here, "Do you know him, Lorelei?" The mother asked while she made sure that the triplets didn't decide to go following in their sister's footsteps. Lei, she knew, at least was able to generally take care of herself.

"Of course, I do, Mamiere! He is our Uncle Xander!" The girl turned her head to grin back at the group, and Jezebel simply blinked before reaching out toward Adele with her mind.

"Uh, Mum. There's some kid here named Alexander looking for you... Améa has fallen into protection mode, and Lei just called him 'Uncle'... We might need you to explain?"

Meanwhile, Lorelei had let him go and was peering at the bag in his hand very closely now, before giving it a poke as she smirked slightly.

Alexander glanced towards Violetta as she called him out with a gentle rub at the back of his neck in embarrassment as he laughed weakly. "I guess it was -too- much to hope no one would hear me freaking out a bit, eh? You can't be calling me out like that! Not fair." He offered a playful grin towards the young girl which had been replaced by a sudden expression of surprise from Lei's tackle-hug. It pulled out a light but happy laughter from him even though he was under scrutiny by Améa and perhaps even Jezebel, reasonably so since it seemed they hadn't been debriefed by him. "Hey there, Lei! I'm happy to see you again too. You know~ could have told me I should have my ID ready for this." His hand gently embraced the top of her head as smiled at her warmly. She added a comfort and voice to the situation that allowed for him to think a bit more clearly this time, if only she had been around when he first met Adele.

He glanced between Améa and Jezebel then seemed to nod slowly at Lei's response to her mother's question. "What she said! I'm uh. . . Your uncle. Just recently found out and all after well. . .  Let's just say I am still kind of reeling from the entire event of finding a very miniscule details about myself out." He lowered the bag he held in all of its heaviness and turned his attention to Améa just to answer her question. "My business is pretty much, she's my Older sister. I just found out who and what I am just a bit not much, enough to know a few details about myself that would have been good to know earlier in life. Makes me your very young and confused Uncle!" He his best to not be too intimidated by the presence the woman had been standing within as her bid for defense and perhaps if it weren't for the young girl nearby he would have been more flustered with such smoldering intensity. "I wanted to meet everyone, you know, be introduced and so Adele kind of set it all up. I did kind of expect her to tell everyone about me but I guess she likes the idea of surprises? Hahaha.

He tried to laugh it off the best he could but he knew either way he'd probably need confirmation on his words even if Lei was defending him. "As for my thoughts earlier uh. . . There is actually a perfectly, logical, non-creepy reason for it. That isn't the time to get into here!" Just then his gaze shifted towards Lei who poked ta his bag with a grin. "What's up with my bag-" Now that he thought about it, it was abnormally heavy. All he should have in there would be the medicines used to keep his body from too high of a pain threshold. Slowly kneeling down he started to undo it and see what was inside that caused the young girl to grin.

An unamused expression shifted on his face as he caught the fur of a cat, Tabby cat, to be precise - inside of his bag. "Seriously?"

So, perhaps it would have just been easier if Cassandra had mentioned what she'd heard from the post office lady this morning, about what the wanted criminal had to go with Narrie, and Tallygarunga in general. But with his excitement and the whole getting ready and stuff, she'd found it difficult to get a word in, and so what was the next best idea? That's right, she'd just stow away, and then she would be able to see for herself if her boo was going to end up in any danger because his family apparently had a whole lot of connections and strange happenings around them.

Cass supposed, with what he'd told her thus far, it probably should have been expected.

Still, maybe insisting on accompanying him as his girlfriend would have been easier than being swung around in his backpack, where there were a whole lot of medicine bottles and things tumbling around and hitting her in her little kitty face. She had almost protested a few times on their journey to the place where he was going to have dinner. And then she heard something going on, and the walking had stopped (for now). She listened a little as a couple of women seemed to be on guard with his arrival, and then she heard the familiar sound of Lorelei as she greeted Alex, and things appeared to be very confusing. Had his sister not told anyone about him?

The next thing Cass knew, however, she was suddenly poked through the bag... a few times. After a few moments, it appeared she was caught out, when she heard the bag being  opened, and her eyes squinted at the light that entered, before she then blinked widely up at Alex's unamused features. The orange tabby then twisted around cutely and batted a paw at the air as she mewed innocently.

Adele had a sense that something was not quite alright. She rubbed at the bridge of her nose as Jezebel's message sang through her brain. Excellent.

"No, no. Not a surprise birthday." she laughed at Stuart's suggestion, that had been quite an interesting day. Adele turned and headed back for the front door, standing at the step where she could witness the gathering of figures further down the driveway. Of course. She could just about feel Améa's mistrust from here. This wasn't the welcome she'd hoped for Alex, but... what other reality could there ever have been?

"Just... a surprise brother." Adele sighed. Because obviously that was better than a surprise birthday. People loved meeting new relations randomly. To her surprise, Caleb burst past her through the door, hammering along the driveway as fast as he could to embrace Alex's legs in a tight hug. Adele wasn't sure she'd ever get over that aspect of things. "Caleb likes him. It's... weird."

She began the walk back down the driveway herself, motioning for Stuart to follow if he wished. He knew almost all there was to know about them, and what point was there to that if he didn't get to enjoy the subsequent drama and awkward situations? Adele was sure there must be days where Stuart wished he'd never so much as laid eyes on her, her life and her family were far from simple.

"Améa, relax." Adele said, once she was close enough to speak and be heard. "Alexander is my brother, yes."

Améa's frown tightened.

"You have no brother, Mamiere." she countered.

"That's... pretty much what I believed, yes. But your grandmother hid this from us too." Adele threw Alex an apologetic smile. At least she'd warned him a little of Améa's abrasive nature? At the sound of the cat, Améa regarded the bag with more suspicion.

"What have there?" she demanded. "It is not mine cat."

"I really don't think anyone is trying to steal your cat, Améa ---why do you have a cat, Alex?" Adele raised an eyebrow. She didn't recall there being a cat. Adele shook her head. It was irrelevant. "Alexander started at Tally this year. He's one of us, and we're about to have a nice family barbecue together. We've got a lot to discuss and I think that's best done over a good plate of food." Adele looked back, seeking support. "Right, Stuart?"

The man released a chuckle that almost sounded a little relieved when Adele assured him that this wasn't another surprise birthday, however, as he followed her to the door and then glanced outside from behind her at the group that had gathered, he blinked at her continuation of that answer. He had to wonder if the woman had learned yet to tell when something was alright to surprise people with, and when it wouldn't hurt to give some people forewarning. Not that he minded, especially when Caleb seemed to run out more excited than the man had ever seen the boy. The platinum-haired child latched onto Alex in a hug and Stuart's brows rose as he considered what was so special about the new family member.

"Actually... it doesn't seem as surprising as one might think," Stuart remarked quietly as they began to make their way from the house, "I mean, you guys are surrounded by female members of your direct blood family, aside from Caleb and Valerian, and Little V is a Dhampir anyway. It's a male that Caleb can probably see himself relating to on some level." The man offered a small shrug after his murmured words, though in his mind this could only been a good thing as well, since it gave the kid a male relative that he could be close to, and he didn't seem to have the issue over sharing Del with her brother either.

And upon closer inspection, Stuart realised that he was likely correct in his assumption too, when he caught sight of the same blue eyes and jet black hair on the young man as his daughters and grandchildren had. He was definitely Lillian's, and it was no surprise that the woman hadn't bothered telling anyone. When did she do anything that didn't suit her? Stu took another sip of his beer as he listened for the moment, the man studying Alex curiously, there was something that reminded him a great deal of Jezebel when she was in her last years of school.

"Faireth is fine, Mea, she's inside probably still chowing down on some mince I put in her bowl," The man assured Améa, though would be hard-pressed to see why she'd think her cat would be in someone else's bag.

"She is not a cat," Came Lorelei's voice as the girl helped herself in reaching into Alex's backpack once it was opened. She picked up the orange tabby and set it on the ground beside Alex, smiling all the while as she literally and figuratively let the cat out of the bag, "This is Alexander's Miss Cass. She can stay for dinner." It wasn't as though Lei was asking, though Stuart didn't see a problem with another feline, so long as it didn't freak Faireth out. Lei had tilted her head at the tabby, however as she spoke again, "You will say hello to everyone?"

"Uh..." Stuart took a moment to try and puzzle out what Lei was even doing, before catching on to Del's words, "Right! Of course, got everything ready for a barbecue that'll feed an army... maybe not literally a whole army. By the way, it's good to meet you kid, I'm Stuart Blair. You can just call me Stu, though," The man stepped forward, extending a hand toward the young man, "Haven't I seen you at the Roo befo-WOAH!" The man then darted away from the cat as it suddenly became a short redheaded girl probably about Alex's age, who had even stranger eyes than this family, if that was even possible.

At least it didn't take long for Adele to respond, as Jezebel glanced toward the house to see both her parents making their way out, though certainly not before Caleb bolted toward the group, only to bypass herself and Améa and plough straight into Alexander with a hug, much in exactly the same fashion as Lorelei had moments ago. Looked like he was a popular guy already, and to be popular with Caleb was a big fucking deal. The kid still didn't like Jez, though it had been worked out that it was more to do with the close relationship with their mother that had formed over recent years.

Though Adele had asked Améa to relax, Jezebel hardly saw that happening soon, especially with such a surprise. She had to admit, this was a big one even for her, but she'd dealt with something similar before... years ago when Lillian had visited her on her death bed and told her that Adele was her mother. Jez was kind of used to these by now, especially where her maternal family were involved.

"It's... great to meet you, Alex, if definitely unexpected," The young woman stepped forward to pull him into a slight squishy hug, whether he wanted one or not, and instantly some of her own energy flowed into him as though he were in need of it. She gave a pause for a moment, before realising why and was only glad to offer up a little something to help him get through the next round of 'welcome to the crazies', before drawing back. She turned her head a little, offering a look to Adele that clearly said she had worked out that he was not exactly in great shape and clearly going through something she had at his age, only it seemed much worse.

Lorelei's fascination with the orange tabby was almost adorable though, the young mother smirking as she watched her daughter talking to the feline, though she blinked when the cat turned into a rather gorgeous young lady who instantly had the attention of all the small children as they stared at her. Stuart's surprised reaction, however, drew a bark of laughter from Jezebel, before she lifted a brow at the other girl.

"Miss Cass, right?" The woman glanced from the redhead, to the young man that the shorter woman moved beside quickly, "Friend of yours then, Alex?"

The second time today he had been hit with the blazing bullet of a speeding child as arms wrapped around his legs a bright smile surged across. "Woah~! Hahaha, Hey there, Caleb! I'm happy to see you too!" He wrapped a hugging arm around the young boy albeit with more of a hunched over position compared to Lei due to the height before he'd set down what seemed to be a guitar case and handed it towards him to grab up. "As promised, I always keep my promises. I spent a few days making sure it was well polishes, restrung with new wires, tuned up before it was played." Whenever Caleb would open it up he'd find an emerald base colored guitar fit for a growing young guitarist. "The only one to avoid the great fire spark of '10. Haha, I call her Jade, but you? You get to rename her when you feel that close connection." He straightened back up and pressed a gentle hand on the boy's shoulder.

"Good ol' mother." Alexander spoke sarcastically. Though his bitterness towards his matriarch didn't outshine the firm smile that grew once his eyes laid on Adele as he gently waved away the apologetic smile with a hand, he wasn't taking it too personally. "I'm happy to see you too, Adele!" An eyebrow arched upwards at Améa's deceleration about a cat. "Yea, not your cat. This particular feline is more special to me than simply that, even if she is a snoop that -doesn't- listen and is overly protective." He gave a pointed accusation but it was all in love. Not a bit of irritation could be sensed within him almost as if he were glad she was there. A  nod was given towards Jezebel albeit nervously. "N-Nice to meet you to-!" There wasn't enough time to get it out as she pulled him into a hug and a light yelp escaped from him. He was stuck between a fanboy's dream and feeling very awkward that this was even happening to him in the first place! Then it happened, the same thing that had occurred with Adele as energy flowed into him and his eyes closed tightly, breathing started to regulate to a normal level and the pain. . . Ceased. For the moment. "Ah. . . T-Thanks. You didn't need to. . . I mean, I appreciate it, gives me a good few days of an easy life." Merlin's Mushrooms, if only he could get to the point where the pain just wasn't there anymore.

He extended his own hand towards Stuart as he gripped it as firmly as he could and gave a controlled shake. "Stu? Nice to meet you then, Stu! Alex is just fine for me, though it seems Lei is fond of the more cultural accurate 'Xander'. Haha." The question that seemed to form from Stuart's mouth never made it as the cat started to shape rapidly into short yet very eye catching red-haired woman. A smirk tied onto his face at Stuart bolted and Jezebel started to howl out a laughter. "Hahaha, Hey, at least you didn't get her full on 'Lets be friends!' treatment. " Alexander confirmed a nod towards Jez. "Yeap, as Lei said, she isn't a cat. A troublemaker like one but she's an actual woman. As for why I -do- have one, she smuggled herself in." Not exactly how he wanted to introduce his family to the woman of his life but at least it added a bit more of a less tense moment in some way.

"Friend is a bit. . . Mild." His hand slinked over towards hers to grab it tightly. "Cassandra Sullivan, better known as Cass! Fellow Spencer, prankster - and my Girlfriend. The love of my life who doesn't like to hear the word 'No it's not a good idea yet.'.  She's been one the most instrumental people lately to help keep me a bit more grounded. " Mostly on his back with cuddling but that was detail no one here needed to know. "Since I already have one person rooting against me I figured, hey, may as well get a louder and more awesome cheerleader to stand for me!" A playful nudged against Cass as he narrowed a gaze towards her. "Now you gotta' make a better impression than I did, I'm doing -horrible- at it. Hehe."

As the "cat" made herself visible, Améa frowned. This animal felt very different to the others, and it wasn't long before she discovered why. It was no cat at all, it was a farce of a cat. Améa felt betrayed. How dare a human deign to inhabit the form of a noble animal? Adele was equally perturbed by Cass's sudden appearance, not least of all for the chilling resemblance she bore to Lady Anna. Gods but Adele hoped that wasn't a secret that was being kept from her. Elscia was bad enough.

"Hide in bag is not polite." Améa said to Cass, her tone clipped as usual. Rude though she was, it was nice to see a bit of her old spark back. The family was on high alert since she'd been taken away from Zane, stowaway cats that were actually human did not go very far to soothe those anxieties. Améa decided if this was indeed her uncle, and the not-cat was indeed her uncle's girlfriend, then the not-cat should learn some manners.

Adele frowned as well, but less severely. She'd not expected the appearance of an "outsider" to their dinner. This was going to impact on what was discussed, Adele was--as always--loathe to speak about certain things in front of strangers. Teenagers had the worst habit of having dramatic break-ups and you could never guarantee where your secrets would go after that.

How much have you told her? Adele's inner-voice broadcasted toward Alex alone. She kept her gaze on him, an eyebrow raised slightly so he would know that she was in fact talking to him---he wasn't going mad. Does she know what you are? What your future may be?

Adele really hoped not. She'd spent a large portion of her life concealing who and what they were, but in the confusion of suddenly finding herself with a sibling she'd forgotten to impart on him the need for secrecy. Hopefully she wasn't too late.

Meanwhile, Caleb stared at the presented guitar with wide and awe-filled eyes. Through the opening of the case it seemed to shine at him like treasure, and the young boy's excitement vibrated through the air. Closing the case back up with delicate hands, he clutched the guitar to his chest.

"Thank you!" said Caleb. "I will practice hard and make you proud!"

Even Adele had to admit, that was a little wonderful. And she wasn't at all wiping a tear from the corner of her eye as she watched her son finally connect with someone outside of herself.

"Caleb is mine brother." Améa snapped, her outburst loud and followed by an awkward moment of silence. Realising she was still drenched and muddy, Améa spun on one heel and stalked back off toward the house, leaving a trail of seething anger in her wake.

Adele sighed.

"Better than usual," Adele admitted. "For Améa at least."

Cassandra felt like she was suddenly being viewed down the barrel of a shotgun, given the looks she received from at least two of the women. One remarked that hiding in the bag wasn't polite, which... well, wasn't inaccurate. The young woman lifted a hand to rub at the back of her neck while glances were exchanged between people, making her feel very much like there was something going on that she couldn't hear or see. She felt at least a little comforted by Alex's hand gripping her own, and held onto it tightly, before clearing her throat awkwardly. It was Lei who spoke first.

"She is one of the Fair Ones!" The girl exclaimed, causing Cass to blink a little before opening and then closing her mouth, not sure what to say. To disagree with the girl would be an outright lie, and she wasn't in the habit of lying to people. But at the same time, she was only part fairy, at least as far as she knew.

"Right, uh... I think I've already blown first impressions, but it could be worse, right? The way Alex and I met was definitely a bit scarier for him, and ha... you know, I kind of gave away my own secret to him early on without thinking... not that... you know, I'm not good with secrets. I'm great at keeping tight-lipped," The redhead was fumbling a little, and the curious gaze from the woman named Jezebel told her that maybe she'd given away a little bit more than she meant to already. At least the angry looking young woman had already stormed off to the house, apparently really not liking the fact that the blonde boy liked Alex.

"She's so shiny!" Violetta said with glee, her siblings confirming such a fact, which caused Cassandra to sidle up next to Alex a little more as she gave the children a wary look. As adorable as they were, they also kind of creeped her out a bit and... wait, did the youngest boy have fangs? The woman shook her head and focused her green and gold eyes on Adele.

"I... didn't mean to sneak, or didn't mean to be caught anyway, but I was just worried and thought it might be less awkward than asking Alex if I could come along... which in hindsight, probably should have gone with the other option. But what's done is done. I am sorry for the deception," Those strange eyes were steady now, and void of her earlier sheepish embarrassment, instead a small blaze of protectiveness of the young man she was attached to, "I just wanted to make sure he's not in any danger, he's important to me." One of my two most important people, and I won't lose him to anything, the thought wasn't intentionally broadcast out so strongly, but it was there at the forefront of her mind, and filled with fear and resounding loss that she had already experienced in her life. And she had her reasons for worrying, after having spoken with whatserface the post office lady.

The man, Stuart, cleared his throat then. People were starting to get on edge, and someone needed to simmer things down quickly.

"Let's take this in the house, at least. Or the back yard so I can get the barbecue started. There's enough for everyone, if you would like to stay, Cass," It seemed at least the youngest kids wanted her to with how they seemed to take a shine. The man then touched Adele on the shoulder gently, to get her attention, and offer to lead her back to the house ahead of the others so that he could talk quietly with her. "We can work with this... I guess maybe it should be considered karma. A surprise for a surprise, hm?" Stuart lifted a brow at the woman. "But, this is a family dinner, and those two are clearly very close, so let's get the food going and let people mingle and settle and then I think there's a few explanations due all around."

Jezebel, meanwhile, set to the task of rounding up her own kids, figuring that Caleb would probably want to stick close to Alex and follow him back, given the shine that he'd taken to their newfound uncle. She herded the triplets off toward the house, while Lei lingered a little, possibly to also accompany the young couple.

That was. . .  A true assessment. It wasn't a polite thing to do and it at least caught everyone off guard, then again, Alex was getting used to having that happened with this side of the family. At least things would never be boring but what kind of excitement did they really invite into his previously semi-mundane lifestyle? Then it happened. . . A broadcasted intrusion towards his mind enough that his eyes subtly shifted towards Adele as if to note that he could hear and wasn't entirely surprised by it, but the sensation itself was much different than the thoughts one picked up. Maybe it was because of the 'Intention' to do so rather than the passive skim that came from most other strong thoughts. His mind honed in as best as he could to focus only on his Sister's direction and mind.

She knows death is a high possibility on the table and that there is something about my bloodline that causes the issue. That a choice has to made and that one option is pretty much an unending life. He had wanted to tell Cass everything he did know, but he could only find it in himself to tell her the snippets that actually effected her, his death, the pain that would go through with it - The fact he may not entirely be himself one way or another depending on the choice. She doesn't know -what- we are, but she is trustworthy, Del. . . It isn't some kind of fling. Even knowing my death is a high chance than my life she chose to stick around, chose to try and protect me coming here. She inspires me to fight harder. A hand weaved through his hair in slight discomfort. She's similar and I know I can't make you trust her - there's clearly some kind of reason for how a few people here react towards me and are latched on with the guarded nature of what we are. But much like my dear Niece's protectiveness of you, Cass is the same with me.

There were tidbits that she had found out accidentally, things out of his control. The telepathy, for one thing, was something that couldn't be avoided and Lei's vanishing act also had to be explained somehow. But those were situations that proved to him that Cass was an honorable woman who would guard their secret closely. Améa's sudden departure and enragement caused his eyebrow to twitch upwards. "Aah. . . It's fine. . . I'm beginning to get used to the 'Not so popular on first look' that comes around here from time to time, Ahaha. . ." Something that one shouldn't get used to but each person had their own hangs ups, he wasn't going to hold it against the overly-guarded woman for the trials she maybe going through. As he smirked towards Caleb he couldn't help but offer out a bashful laughter. "You already make me proud. I have to push strong and hard to make sure I can see you grow, you know! I can tell, you're going to be a natural. It's in the heart of all of us." That was something his friend Iris had made him think on, that Music, was indeed in their 'Blood' of sorts.

It also seemed like Lei had been ousting Cass left and right which was amusing but also meant that her full secret was given to the family, which seemed. . . Kind of wrong to him considering the essence of secrecy that lingered in the air. "Heh, leaping before you look? Typical Kitty McHotstuff. But I wouldn't have you any other way." The thought that skimmed over her mind struck a red blush across his cheeks as his gaze narrowed with a brief chuckle. He figured those that had been at the Telepathic game longer than himself caught that as easily as he did so he decided to vocalize his own response in a low whisper. "And I won't lose you to anything either, My dearest. . ."

Even in the company of his family he couldn't help but state his lines, the words that showed just how smitten - connected - to the young woman he had been as much as she was to him. Stuart's suggestion caused his eyes to light up as he nodded and mouthed a 'Thank you' towards the older male, he felt he had a few allies within the mix to try and keep the evening on track. But he was right, a lot of things needed to be explained and he knew he probably wouldn't get the full details yet due to circumstances. In the mean time. . .

"I am -starved-. That and Sapphire here is getting a little antsy. Old Gal' feels neglected." He started to walk forward and pulled Cass along lightly but his hands shifted to link with hers by clutched between the digits. The strides made weren't quick or hastened as he kept nearby Caleb and Lei in case they both wanted to follow along in their walk. The day looked as if it were going to be long. . . Painful, maybe even a bit of a lecture by Adele for him.

Regardless? He was happy. . . A small smile perched on his face he sent one final mental note towards Adele, perhaps something unexpected for the both of them. Not the best of first meetings. . . But they're all great. You've made a wonderful family - Instantly I can say I love and cherish each one of you. She just got a douse of mild Alex sappiness. Lucky her.

Adele was really not sure about this one. Maybe it was the red hair, or maybe it was the weird eyes. Maybe it was both that put her on edge. Or maybe it was just the fact that this girl was uncomfortably close to her dying brother, but whatever it was---Adele sure didn't want to trust Cass. She'd only just found Alex and already had to prepare to lose him, and while she didn't want her brother to do dishonour to the family and die a virgin, that didn't mean he had to go and get a damned girlfriend. ]

All of this she kept very tightly to herself, especially in present company. Lei was worse than Lillian at times for hearing the thoughts you wanted to keep to yourself. Adele knew she was being stupid, but she also knew she had to do the Older Sister Thing. Whatever that was. She was sure that somewhere in the siblings' rulebook there was a line about not trusting anyone who got too close.

Everything is just a "fling" when you live long enough. Adele sent back to Alex, the feeling that accompanied it was so bitter that it burned in the back of her mouth. Tell her no more until I know her better.

And that was all she could really ask. She had no real authority over the family, but common sense said that she'd been here the longest (aside from Lillian) and that the systems she had for obscuring their curious nature were working. Lillian was... well. Lillian. She had no concept of social politics and unfamiliar magics, at least in Australian terms, and Adele did fear there would come a day when her mother decided it was in her best interests to turn the West Gate Bridge into a giant phallic monument. Lillian lived on the "outside" of life, and saw no point trying to be amongst it.

Caleb on the other hand was beaming. Adele wasn't sure she'd ever even seen the kid smile this wide. All it was going to take was hours of her sanity while he played played the opening of "Smoke On The Water" repeatedly. Adele had met enough fledgling guitarists (and Alan Burdett) to accept this reality.

Stuart's touch seemed to take some of the tension out of her shoulders, and she gave him a short nod.

"Karma indeed." Adele sighed. "But in my defense, it didn't feel right to share the news before Alex could be here himself."

That was her excuse, and she was sticking with it.

Caleb trotted after Alex as they began to move back toward the house, the guitar clutched under one arm, and the other hand grasping at Alex's free sleeve. Adele stifled a small laugh. It was a bit cute, and perhaps there was yet hope that Caleb would turn out to be a welcoming older brother himself.

At Alex's continuation, Adele rolled her eyes back. Gross. Now, were they really sure he was related? Maybe he had all the defective sappy genes. Or maybe, like Jezebel, he'd actually been raised right.

Back at you?

Adele wasn't sure how to respond. Their family was odd, complicated, and dramatic. But it was hers, and Adele was determined to keep it that way. Even though she woke up every morning expecting to have lost everything once more, with the exception of David leaving, this was the most stable family unit she'd ever had.

Once we get you through this whole possibly-dying situation, you'll have enough time to learn to hate us. It was a joke. Mostly. But I'm glad you're with us now... little brother.

"Vladimir, it's a whole lot better than sitting at home by yourself. And it'll be grand, I promise. Everyone will love to see you!" Viktor had worked hard to bring his twin to the dinner, not on the part of convincing Jez, Stuart, and the others, but to convince Vladimir himself that it was neither intrusive or unwelcome. Plus with them now guarding Améa... well, the more the merrier in their family unit.

Eventually, Vladimir caved in. Viktor had worn a satisfied grin on his face for hours after that.

And so it was. Vladimir met with Viktor at the ground of Tallygarunga, waiting out by the gates until he saw his brother appear. There was nothing said between the two men, nothing other than a nod of heads before both apparated away from the school grounds to just outside Narrie, preferring to walk the rest of their way to their destination. How odd it would be to see Stuart again, Adele. Spending time with Lorelei and the triplets was always a pleasure as well, but...

No, such larger gatherings were hardly something Vladimir was quite used to after such time away from home. Perhaps Viktor was right, and this would do him some good.

As they got closer to the residence, both brothers paused before looking at the other, Vladimir's face forever impassive and Viktor's brow furrowed. There was... commotion. Their dhampiric ears could hear it readily enough. And, as the men approached, they could see that there was already a large gathering outside, with figures moving toward the house. Vladimir merely followed his brother along, his red eyes catching sight of the various people. He saw Stuart, Adele, Jezebel with the triplets. There was Lorelei, a boy and girl that Vladimir did not recognize...

This was going to be quite the large gathering wasn't it?

Viktor caught glimpse of his children and had to stifle back a chuckle at what he knew was coming. Oh yes, the triplets turned and...

The next thing Vladimir knew, he had three small children practically crashing into him for hugs, and he fought to keep his balance so as not to fall. A small oomph fell from his lips upon impact, but the gentlest of smiles appeared, a small crack in the usual stoic facade the man wore almost every hour of the day. Viktor snickered in the background, and the triplets looked up and beamed. "Uncle Vladimir!"

"Salut Valerian, Veronika, Violetta," Vladimir greeted them gently, giving each one of the triplets a small pat on the head, crouching down upon a knee to give each one in turn a kiss upon their foreheads. Standing up again, Vladimir looked to the group and gave them a bow. "Greetings everyone. It is a pleasure to see you all." His red eyes scanned the group, his face having returned to the impenetrable fortress of stoicism and then silence. Viktor in the meantime made his way over to Jez and planted a kiss upon her cheek. "Sorry luv, took us a bit longer than I thought."

Vladimir, glancing at everyone once more, returned to silence, content for the moment to follow the group to... well, whichever part of the house they were beginning to move to. He could have pried into their thoughts, but that would have been incredibly rude, after all. Vladimir did abhor terrible manners.

Between Stuart and Jez, they knew it was better to just move things ahead, it looked like it was going to be a clusterfuck no matter what was planned for the day. At least the redhead seemed nice, if protective of Alex, and Jezebel was internally squeeing at how cute the young couple were with one another. The children also seemed enamoured, and if there was someone's opinion she trusted, it was the kids. They just -knew-.

"Did you know you guys stare a lot when you talk telepathically?" The young redhead spoke up, causing Jezebel's brows to raise. Questions were in mind but Cassandra interjected quickly, "My aunt's a telepath, and I'm a keen observer. Plus Alex and I kind of discovered that ability of his by accident." Well... that did make sense, though it brought more questions to mind about the girl's family.

Stu meanwhile gently massaged the shoulder that his hand was placed on as he escorted Del back to the house. Seemed an interesting day was already turning into one of their family's crazy get-togethers after all. All they needed was Lillian and the Lady Anna, heavens forbid.

Jez was still in the process of herding the triplets, only to lose them when their father and uncle showed up. Merlin, she'd forgotten that she'd said Viktor should drag Vlad out. Well, he'd already seen some of the things her family was capable of at least. The woman smiled as the children greeted Vlad, and then again at the kiss from Viktor before leaning against his side.

"Love, Vlad, meet Alexander, Del's brother that was never mentioned to anyone, and his girl, Cass. Kids, this is Viktor, my love, and his brother Vladimir." At least this introduction was easier, the Dhampirs knew enough about surprises.

Cass offered a warm smile at the excitement of the kids, before offering a nod. She was mostly just appreciating the hold on her hand that Alex had, along with his words of encouragement toward her. Studying the men closely, she had a feeling where the little boy got his fangs.

"Nice to meet you," Cassandra said to the new arrivals with a friendly smile, and then leaned into Alex's side as she spoke to him with a small half smile, "So aside from the suspicion, everyone seems pretty cool and caring."

Inside, Stuart glanced back as the gathering grew and moved slowly toward the house.

"Glad I got plenty of food," The man said, and then carefully studied Adele for a moment with some concern, "So before they get here, how are you holding up today, Del? With today being today." He knew Alan was probably halfway to smashed if Audrey was letting him.

Suspicion, It wasn't in Alexander's world as much as it seemed to have been within Adele's. But, of course, the woman was older and had lived a full breadth of life that could have only been accompanied by a variety of different things. Especially when you factor in their mother and her unique talent of 'raising' her children. Part of him knew the retort sent back through his mind had been not only one laced with some form of bitterness at the idea but a sense of protection, which was something he could respect. Both Cass and Del had that common ground of wanting to protect.

Alright, I won't tell her anymore until you know her better. As long as you make the effort to know her and all. What more could he ask of her? There was no way to just jam his care for the young woman down his sisters throat. He knew the two needed to understand one another of their own accord, he'd just make sure there was a buffer just in case. Most importantly he respected her request, even if it sounded more like an order, because of her knowledge but also because she was his older sibling.

As Cass chimed in his cheeks turned slight red and not from embarrassment of being caught. "Just, don't ask what the accident was for my sake." He wasn't ashamed of it but there were just somethings you don't repeat to your family on -how- certain things transpired. Only that they did. "She's been helping me work on it since at the time when I should have been asking questions I needed to just. . . Sort out my mind." Dear, Heavens, he hoped this day wouldn't bring about any more surprises. But at this rate all he needed was his Mother to show up to actually make his mood sour.

He could feel the presence of Caleb's hand slip into his own as he grasped it gently and chuckled giving the young boy a gentle glance in his direction. This felt odd in a good way, he's never had so many loved ones around him in a single moment. Out of the corner of his eyes he saw the triplets suddenly bolt and knock into one of the men that had started to approach them. Alexander offered a chuckle at how enthused they were, albeit, he knew how that felt now except minus one extra body. Jez seemed to be on the ball with introductions which pulled out a casual way from Alex. "Hey there, Uh, Alex is just fine. Nice to meet you, Viktor and Vladimir!" Even with his more laid back attitude he showed a depth of manners to acknowledge the older gentlemen.

His father often made sure that he didn't use a lot of things as an excuse to be rude. Speaking of which his eyes averted towards his pants pocket a bit surprised his phone hadn't rung. After a quick few seconds he decide to stave thought of his father away from his mind, there were too many thought pokers around and they didn't need to know that detail just yet. Not until they cleared a few more things up, anyways.

A chuckle escaped from him as he looked towards Cass who had been the perfect distraction and deterrent to keep the thoughts at a gentle pace. "They do. . . Don't worry, I'll do everything I can make sure they see you're amazing." He whispered to her. "Hey, you're a big hit with the kiddo's so that should be a good start and sign."

Adele nodded back at Alex. It was a fair enough agreement, and one she was willing to honour. Even if Cass creeped her out. That wasn't the girl's fault, Adele knew she would have to push past her only-slightly-rational fear of redheads. And as Stuart's hand squeezed her shoulder, leading her quickly toward the house, Adele knew what was coming. Her smile thinned into a tight-lipped frown.

"You don't miss a damn thing, do you?" she muttered. Not that she expected him to forget, after all--he was also Alan's cousin. Today should have been a day of celebration, and yet it was not. Organising this dinner on this day was somewhere between a fluke and Adele's desire to forget what the day was and rewrite a new lot of memories over the ones that hurt too much. Although Lauren had not been her first child, it was the first time she'd found herself overcome with that intense wave of love. An instant bond between herself and the fragile baby that had been placed in her care. She'd never had that with Améa.

"I'm as fine as I can be." which was to say that Adele was not fine at all. Everything was so much harder without David to sit and listen, soothe her, and just be there when she couldn't sleep for the pain. Or to just be breathing beside her, a solid weight that brought her back to the here and now. Had he chosen to leave now, so he wouldn't have to be here with her at this time of year? Had he planned it so callously?

The group on the driveway was drawing closer, and so Adele put back her mask of "happy family time". Shifting her weight from one foot to the other, she did however move herself ever-so slightly closer to Stuart and the secure presence that radiated from him. Behind them, Améa had emerged fresh and clean. She stared holes in the back of Adele and Stuart's backs, but said nothing.

So it was happening, this odd gathering, full of surprise guests. Adele nodded to Viktor and Vladimir who had also joined them. This sure was going to be a party.

The air above Alex's head began to shimmer, particles shifting into view---and a sudden solid weight settling on the boy's shoulders. Adele swore, loud and exasperated as she recognised the form of seven-year-old (maybe, who knew?) Flora now riding on Alex's shoulders. Her soft brown hair flew in the light wind, and the young girl brought her face down over his head and waved in front of his eyes.

"Hello Alexander!" she said brightly. "I am Flora! Lillian asked that I come, she is very sad she was not invited today."

Flora was something of a mystery. Lillian would never elaborate on who or what the girl was, and Adele's assumption was that Flora either was, or belonged to, Lillian's sister. Her abilities appeared to be sorceraic and Lillian treated the girl as a protege, which suggested that despite her grey eyes---Flora was one of them. Though she always appeared to be around six or seven years old, Adele knew it was equally likely that the kid was hundreds or even thousands of years old.

"This is a family gathering." Adele said, folding her arms. Flora shrugged and laughed.

"Then you must consider me Lillian's stand-in, as she is most certainly family." said the girl. "You mustn't be so grumpy all the time, Aellra. You know your child feels all thoughts and emotion, you must try to be more positive while it is unable to escape your misery!" somehow the words were as insulting and painful as they were spoken bright and cheery. Adele tensed, more than a little displeased at this turn of events---but knowing that she had about as much ability to control Flora as she did Lillian herself.

Adele turned her head to look at Stuart.

"Whatever you have, the strongest---and two of them." she murmured. "I am far too sober for this today."

Viktor beamed over at the two new additions. "It's nice to meet you both, Alex and Cass! Welcome to the family," Viktor told them amicably, enjoying the feel of Jez leaning against his side. Family was important after all, and it always brought a smile to his face, not masking the fangs within his mouth. The man was sure there was a whole backstory to why Alexander was this new family member that no one had been told about, but he knew well enough that answers would come in time. Curiosity was something Viktor managed to hold back when it came to Jez and the sorceraic blood.

For the most part anyway.

As such, when Flora appeared out of nowhere again, Viktor wasn't in the least phased by it. "Hello Flora, it's nice to see you again," he greeted the young girl, though he could always tell through his own dhampiric senses that there was something different about the girl. Different even from Lei and the triplets, from Jezebel and Améa. He wasn't sure what it was, but it was there

Viktor would have herded the triplets himself, but he was sure Uncle Vladimir would have a great time handling them, and what were brothers for if not to watch and enjoy such moments? So, the twin with blue eyes watched his counterpart with red eyes try his best to herd the twins toward the house... only to freeze at the sight of Flora.

Vladimir, for his part, had been silent for the majority of everything, until the girl appeared upon Alexander's shoulders.

You, Vladimir thought within his mind towards her and her alone, and if the girl were anything like Jezebel, she would hear him he was certain of it. Outwardly, his face remained neutral, his eyes darting between the girl, his brother and sister-in-law, and the home. He had never forgotten what the young girl had said to him in the park, before everything occurred, before he moved to Moscow. I have not forgotten your words. This is the blood you spoke of, is it not?

After she had spoken to him, and the subsequent event in the library, how could it not be?

But, so as not to be rude to everyone else in the vicinity, Vladimir let himself nod at young Flora and verbalized, "Greetings, it is a pleasure to see you."

How many more surprises would there be, he wondered?

"I wouldn't be me if I missed things," Stuart shone a cheeky grin at Adele, however as she spoke, he could only offer a small nod and wrap an arm around her shoulders from the side, bringing her in for a small half-hug. First David, and then today being what it was, and the surprises. It was going to be an interesting one for sure. She wasn't immediately aware of the young woman who'd emerged from getting cleaned up, however there was a small itch in the back of his neck and his free hand raised in order to rub there, before he turned his head to spy the girl, offering a warm smile.

"Feeling better, Améa?" The man asked, though his expression quickly became concern because... she really did not look happy. Was it because of the surprise shock of a new uncle? He wasn't certain. That glare seemed to be really, really focused on he and Del. Did she have a problem with them being friends, then? He'd have to ask her later. When Cecil wasn't half barreling past him to run to her for pats. The dog had really grown attached to her since her arrival.

Jezebel snickered softly at Alex's embarrassment, she knew exactly what it meant if he didn't want anyone to ask how they accidentally worked it out, and she offered him a wink and zipped her lips. She'd had her own interesting discoveries before she'd learned about her heritage as well, and opened up a link to the young man.

'If you ever wanna talk about it, just let me know. I... actually went through the whole process of not knowing I had unique parentage either, until it was almost too late,' Oh, did Jex know all about being caught out and then told a whole story by the woman, before basically being made to choose or else she'd end up dying because of the conflict within her blood. That had not been a fun time. And with the way it was for boys - she'd been well warned while pregnant with the triplets - she could only imagine he had it much worse than she had. She held Viktor's hand as they walked toward the house, while the triplets kept their Uncle Vlad busy trying to round them up.

The group were almost at the house, and Cassandra was holding Alex's hand, leaning against his side a little - surprised when Lorelei decided she'd hold her other hand, probably because Caleb already had Alex's other one - and his backpack slung over one shoulder. She felt a little weird with the whole... family type scene, it was odd and something she'd never actually known before. Though, she suddenly felt more than saw the change in the air beside her, before the shimmering even started, and gasped a little when a girl suddenly appeared on Alex's shoulders.

"Flora!" Lorelei cried out excitedly, only too happy to see her best friend show up to this family gathering.

"So this is Flora?" Cassanda asked quietly, remembering Lei mention the other girl when they first saw her. She was another one of these people, who could do all the weird magic stuff that left her feeling a little confused? How many were there actually? "Nice to meet you I guess, Flora," She offered a small smile to the girl, though when she glanced around at the rest of the family, they... really didn't look very impressed. She had a feeling not many approved of her, or the woman she was talking about. Oh wait. Was Lillian Alex's mother?

Stuart at least had a smile, if a little strained. Really? She had to pick this day to show up? Of course Lillian would send her.

"Hey there, Flora. You know I like it when you give me a warning before you pop in," The man wagged his finger at the girl in a faux scolding, completely not serious though, considering the smirk on his lips. He didn't mind the girl, in fact he was glad to get her visits sometimes, and they could fill each other in on what was happening. But today was really probably not a great day, even if he and she knew her relation to the significance, "How are you anyway, squirt?" The man then glanced at Del as she asked for the strong stuff, before giving her shoulder a small squeeze and nodded, looking out at the gathered, "Alright, everyone in, we can go through to the back. Got drinks in the fridges, and I'll get the barbecue fired up." Let's hope it didn't get too much crazier.

My, Grandpa, what big teeth you have! Alex wanted to say as he stared at Viktor's fangs. A slight laughter escaped from him giving a gentle nod. "Haha, thanks!" A gentle nudge was give towards Cassandra while he grinned towards her. "Here that? You're welcomed in the family too." That simple phrase meant a lot more to him than most would realize.

Then he could feel another presence within his mind - this was going to be something he needed to get used to. Funny feeling and all, perhaps did -not- help that it was Jezebel this time. His mind was a sacred place where he could fan boy after all! 'No, no! Not that in particular! Nope. Can't talk about that! Haha. . .Beginning to wonder if I wanted to learn about my 'Unique parent' in anyway.' He wasn't sure on her relationship with Adele on meeting but as far as anyone was really aware, his own with Lillian, was non existent. A gaze shifted to Lorelei who seemed to fall into the line with Himself, Caleb, and Cass. The weirdness bound inside himself but it wasn't a feeling he had any dislike about, no, the one thing that he did was a sudden weight on his shoulders which caused his movement to stop from the new distribution on his shoulders.

"Merlin's mustache!?" The reason he was startled? What kind of normal thing was it to have little kids spawn on your shoulders and make actual eye contact? Blue hues stared back into Flora's, oddly enough, not blue eyes. "Hey the-" He was going to greet the young girl until she brought up the one name that set his jaw tightly. His eyelid physically twitched and his glare set into place. "Asked you to come? Sad? Mother doesn't know 'sad'. She's about eighteen years late for some parties if she was actually concerned about it." Spite, he was still really irritated that his Mother had this extremely casual nature that swung about her meanwhile this young girl seemed to flow with that same essence. An unamused expression stood on the young man's face.

Most seemed to at least regard Flora with a greeting, even Cassandra - which made Alex take an even sharper breath. It wasn't who she was but who she was standing in for in our own words only confirmed once more after her response towards Adele. This was much more than just a simple irritation, it was a wound reopened for him, the audacity. . . To claim to want in our a family gathering and have a history of abandoning their own children with no intention to ever rectify that kind of mistake. "Surprised you even know my name, Flora, unless you've been watching or something." The question of why lingered in his mind.

Knowing that this young girl had been at his mother's beck and call along with being Lei's friend? He couldn't let those kind of hooks stay in Lei so easily. For now he needed to be cordial, he needed to endure it all. "Drinks? Please. . . Tell me you have something hard." This was more of a joke to help keep himself in better spirits, hm. . . Spirits could be good. Alex started to move forward even with Flora on top of his shoulders, Caleb's hand in one of his own and Cassandra's in the other.

He wasn't going to say it, every time say something along the lines 'What else is going to show up', something always manages to show up.
