Andy decided to take a new approach to the class, after last term’s fiasco she was going to make thing easier. The beginners’ class was supposed to be the easiest, first and maybe second-year spells should do, everyone should be able to follow them easily. She adjusted the tables, making it rows but with enough space for students to pass and with a corridor in the middle, she didn’t want people hopping from table to table or having to crawl just to get to a spot their friends.

She started preparing the spells they were going to use, the Bullarum Immortalem seemed like a fun idea to start the class, a child’s play and a childish spell, good to entertain children or fools who enjoyed multi-colored bubbles, she was sure some of the students would enjoy it. The second spell she’d make them do would be a Diffindo and as a third maybe Reparo. Yes, students should be able to use these spells easily without a complication, at least to get them used to wandless magic.

As she prepared the class, thinking about what she could use for them to cut and repair, maybe she needed a target. She conjured several mannequins but only placed one at the end of the corridor, students would be able to cut and repair several Delores without a problem, and then fixing the ones they had cut. She had a good feeling about the class, now all she needed was for her students to show up.

A beginner's class on Wandless Magic (or anything practical, for that matter) was something Danielle had no use for, but was forced to endure. To go under the radar, she needed to be mostly average; being written up as a home schooled teenager, at that point it would be entirely conceivable that she never received much of an education in its Wandless counterpart at all. Nothing could be further from the truth, but she had to keep up with the charade, and thus didn't need any teachers reminding her of which class she should take.

Seeing the teacher in the room, the Dhampir stepped in, moving deep into the last row before sitting down. She was used to having a Flinders sit next to her, so she had the presence of mind to leave her own bag there to reserve the girl a seat - from what she knew, she was a beginner as well, and thus would be attending that specific class in all likelihood. Letting out a long exhalation, Danielle noticed something: given that the class had been separated into three, it meant that there would be far less people attending to begin with, proof in the fact she hardly spotted anyone at that moment.

That meant less anxiety, and less panicking. A feeling of relief washed over her. Perhaps she could actually have fun in that class, even if she couldn't do everything she knew how to - but then again, that would have her pass the Advanced class on the spot.

MJ was equally relieved to see that the student numbers had been cut down considerably as she stepped into the room, not carrying much in the way of supplies as none were necessary (a relief, given how tight her budget tended to be). She nodded her head politely to the teacher in greeting before looking around, and seeing a familiar Bourke motioning her over.

She wasted no time in going to the seat that was claimed for her. While she didn't particularly enjoy fraternizing during class, there was something calming about the Dhampir's presence. MJ was aware enough to have noticed they suffered from the same issue, which gave birth to the ironic situation that was them helping each other get through class regularly. Smiling at her for a greeting, MJ slid into the reserved seat once the bag had been removed.

"Hey." She spoke in a lower tone so not to disturb the class. "Did I miss anything?" Unlikely, as there was barely anyone present. The Bourke's shake of her head confirmed it.

"No. Just started."

Laurie had elected to enroll in the Beginner class that term - not because of a lack of potential, no, but for two other reasons: one, she wanted to have a very good grasp of basics before moving on, and two, she always made new things needlessly harder on herself due to her obstinate need of never uttering an incantation. That made it so she always had to work a little extra hard to catch on, but at the same time it made her dominance of a given spell that much stronger in the end.

The Spencer had headed to class alone, figuring her dorm roommate would attend that same class in another schedule and difficulty level. She didn't bother greeting the teacher as she stepped into the classroom, deciding to sit down by herself in one of the rows closer to the back to avoid being bothered. An effort that would prove to be fruitless, she was sure, due to how few students would show up in comparison to the various classes in the last term.

'Took it long enough.' She couldn't help but think to herself while suckling on a lollipop, as was standard, questioning the efficiency of the school in general.

Travis had gotten the memo of the adjustment to the classes, that meant a good thing in his book or maybe. . . Maybe it had more to do with the fact that at the moment? He wasn't entirely thinking. Not like he should've, sneaking in behind the train of students to find himself a seat at the row that had been the furthest to the back. Paying attention and hearing hadn't been an issue for him so placement hadn't meant much in that arena. However, his skin had been excessively pale and the rate at how easily he could be pissed off about something or someone could be escalated to a whole new level with the proper trigger. It wasn't something he wanted to test in the middle of the classroom.

While, ordinarily, he would've skilled the proceeding and following days until his mind had been less. . . Animalistic. He'd been drawn by a one truck mind of desire that had been tugging at his mind, his eyes glanced around the classroom for a moment, identifying the few that had chosen to take the beginner's course before the ever wandering gaze settled upon the Professor who taught the class. Not something he would admit so openly with ears, she'd been the primary reason his urges had taken control in the moment in lieu of proper sense that he should've been thinking about.

There hadn't been any formal greeting directed, whether to the teacher or to the people he probably would've normally given attention towards. Focus had been skewered and the call of the hunt rang in him. In quite the unique way that he had yet to actively realize until recently, for some odd reason.

She waited until some of the students were inside and once, they were she continued to wait to make sure everyone was there. She wasn’t sure who were the students that were going to attend that class of hers, but as she watched at everyone, she had a good idea of who they were, while some she didn’t really understand, others she knew exactly why. Miss Clarke and Miss Kempf were two of them, while they managed to get some of the spells done, it took them a while. Miss Haynes seemed to have the basic knowledge, the girl probably thought she needed the practice, Andy wasn’t going to give her a hard time for that. At last there was Mr. Franklin, he did well, the thought of seeing him there was a surprise, probably trying to do an easy class.

“Good morning. I’m surprised to see some of you here, but the class if open for all.” She looked at the kids as she walked in the middle of the corridor she had made, she wanted everyone to be able to listen. “Alright, today we’re starting with something simple, a child’s play. You all learned this spell before, it’s quite easy.” She went back to the front and without moving her hands or saying the spell name she casted Bullarum Immortalem, a bubble producing spell. In the class several bubbles appeared above the students heads and around them, several sizes and several colours.

“This is the spell you’ll be casting now. Does anyone know what’s it called?” she asked the class, as she took up walking again to make sure everyone listened. “Alright, you all can cast it, use different colours. Miss Clarke you’ll get yellow, Miss Kempf you get green, Miss Haynes you get red and Mr. Franklin you’ll get orange.” As soon as she finished the bubble popped and disappeared so that the students could make their own.

A familiar scent caught Danielle's attention and she instinctively looked in the direction it was emanating from, her gaze catching Travis almost immediately. Looking at him still brought a dull ache to her heart with what she had unwittingly uncovered less than a couple weeks before, but worry overcame heartbreak as she paid attention to his condition properly - he appeared somewhat pale and unfocused, and to what she could gather from her own heightened senses and deeper understanding than others pertaining his condition, she could also tell he was more in touch with his affliction than normal. Was it close to a full moon? She had stopped paying attention to the lunar calendar out of temporary spite, which her senses were now telling her had been a grave mistake.

"Are you alright?" An ear twitched with the sudden auditory information, and she turned her head to face the blonde that usually sat next to her. Apparently she had zoned out completely, causing the girl to worry; the Bourke nodded and forced a smile, even if she wasn't entirely convinced of it being true herself.

"Yes. Thank you. Let's get started, shall we?" She responded right before the Professor spoke up. It seemed like they would be producing bubbles during the class - something so easy that Danielle doubted it would take her mind off of the recent concern at all. On the opposite end of the spectrum, MJ looked quite interested in the subject as her eyes carefully inspected the various colorful bubbles spread around the classroom. She wasn't the most flamboyant of people herself, but it didn't hurt to expand one's horizons every once in a while.

"It's the bubble producing charm." MJ replied to the teacher after raising her hand - the distinct lack of fellow students present made it easier for her to speak up. "Bullarum Immortalem is the incantation."

One of the bubbles had fallen upon Danielle's hand and hadn't burst. While the spell was most definitely easy to perform in practice from what she could observe, she couldn't help but be mildly entertained by the fact the bubbles retained its form on contact - perhaps, it wouldn't be so bad after all. Eventually, the bubbles disappeared when the Professor willed them so. It was the student's turn - although, given the nature of the spell, focusing on one color alone would likely prove to be a bit of a challenge.

Having been assigned the color red, much like her House (and unfortunately, much like blood - a reminder of her origins that she didn't need), the Bourke got to work. She decided not to laze around immediately in the first spell of the class, conjuring a stream of crimson bubbles in mid air without much difficulty. The Flinders beside her watched her with interest before deciding it was her own turn.

"Ah, let's see... Bullarum Immortalem." MJ waved her hand in the appropriate motion. She had passed with flying colors when it came to the concept of the spell, creating several bubbles in front of her that were seemingly indestructible; however a problem was immediately imminent, as her bubbles came out in shades of blue and pink instead of yellow. "Hm..."

Laurie raised an eyebrow with very mild skepticism as the spell they were supposed to do was elaborated upon and demonstrated - while she was normally one to let that sort of thing slide and/or otherwise not ruffle her feathers too much, she couldn't help thinking it was quite backwards to make the students perform the first spell they learn in their academic curriculum during the second term, after they had employed the use of third year spells in the very first class of the year. The 'beginner' moniker to the class felt inappropriate. Maybe it should be called 'kindergarten'.

She took a deep breath so not to let that insult to her ability have the rare consequence of flaring up her anger. 'Whatever. Let's get this over with.' Not bothering to utter an incantation as per usual, the Spencer summoned forth an obnoxiously large stream of bubbles - but, she took it a step further. Wanting her displeasure with the material's difficulty (or lack thereof) to be known, she enacted her passive aggression by making her bubbles a multitude of shades of green, yet never transitioning to any other color.

After the spell, she leaned back on her chair, crossing both legs and arms, distracting herself with the lollipop hanging from her mouth. She felt like she could kill to have a friendly face around...

Travis caught Dani's scent, as much as she'd most likely caught his own. There wasn't going to be a chance that he'd be missed by the Dhampir, though there would've been a lingered oddity within his - a high amount of a hormonal surge that perhaps shouldn't have been pulsating as high as it'd been. Almost as if it were unbridled and not from lack of trying to keep it bound, it was an impossibility due to his nature and how close the moon had actually been for the young man. A heated breath expels passed his pale lips that had been a starker pallor than the rest of his skin and even then it'd been far clear that something had physically been 'off', near sickly. As if he should've been in bed resting up rather than attending an activity focused class.

His eyes closed tightly, mind racing with the various thoughts that were too fast to make out with any true distinction yet he understood each call that whisked through it. Then his eyelids slid open at the call of his name and what seemed to be an assignment of a color. For a moment he felt lost, looking around, in a strange land until the bubbles the professor had conjured up soared and float through the upper atmosphere. Then glancing towards his classmates seeing the color coordination of colors.

Were. . . They supposed to make the bubble and offer a tint to them? His head cocked to the side as if he were a bewildered puppy for a moment before his arm rose up and finger began to trace, lowly speaking out the phrase to enact the spell. Without warning a plethora of bubbles began to add up with a orange hue that colored them deeply. It seemed he'd did good on one aspect and bad on another. . . As the bubbles started to increase and multiply in at a very obnoxious rate.

Well, THAT wasn't supposed to happen.

The kids began chattering to each other, or at least it was it looked like for the few whispers she had heard. The student seemed to be doing well for themselves. The only person in that class that seemed to have less experience was the Flinder’s girl, Mary Clarke if Andrea’s memory wasn’t failing her. Everyone else seemed to be capable of performing a spell easily without complicating, or so Andy thought.

Miss Clarke had performed the spell with no complications, unlike in the previous term where she had some problems with it. Miss Haynes and Miss Kempf had done an outstanding performance, especially Miss Kempf with all the different shades of green. “Very good Miss Kempf and Miss Haynes. Good performance Miss Clarke. Maybe next year your can advance to the other class.” She wasn’t expecting MJ to advance to any of the other classes that year, the girl still seemed to have a few problems, but nothing that wouldn’t get better with practice.

When Andy looked at Mr. Franklin she wasn’t sure what to say or do as the bubbled began to increase and multiply. Andy let it happen for a while before extending her hand to stop the spell. “Very good Mr Franklin, maybe next time we shouldn’t exaggerate on the bubbles, alright?” with a wave of her hand all the balls disappeared from the classroom.

“Now we’re going to have Delores here, we’re going to use Diffindo and Reparo on this mannequin. Can anyone tell me what these spells do?” She asked, proceeding to walk along the class making sure all the students were hearing her instructions carefully, she didn’t want anyone destroying anything in the classroom other than the mannequin.

Andrea's comment had a presumably unintended side effect when it came to the young Flinders - it struck directly at her lack of self esteem. Maybe she would advance? That didn't sit well with her at all. She needed to make her family proud and reassure them they had nothing to worry about when it came to her, even if deep down she knew it to be the furthest thing from the truth. She looked down at her right hand with a hint of sadness in her gaze as she mulled over her most recent failure, believing it to have been great enough that even the teacher doubted her ability.

Danielle, however, had taken the comment and the consequent anxiety inflicted upon the younger girl as an opportunity to get her mind off the mind-numbing easy class - that, and Travis' existence in general. Tuning out the Professor completely, she grabbed MJ's shoulder with a hand and squeezed it, getting her attention. The blonde snapped out of it and looked at her in confusion.

"Forget about the class." Danielle spoke. She didn't like the fact that it was advancing without ensuring all students dominated the basics, believing such to be why people ultimately failed to begin with. "I'll guide you through it, okay? Just try one bubble at a time, maybe once you got the focus down you can do multiple at once."

"...Is that okay, really...?" MJ muttered with uncertainty, her ears picking up on a question the Professor had just thrown out. But, instead, she decided to submit to her desk partner - if she managed to do just one bubble, perhaps she would be seen as better in the eyes of the Professor herself. "...Alright, I suppose it doesn't hurt to try..."

Using far less magic than before, MJ focused on creating one singular bubble. After muttering the incantation in such a low tone that she hoped it wouldn't disturb the class, the Flinders created a decent-sized bubble - and to her surprise, it was yellow. 'I can do this... Okay...'

"Good. A few more next time..."

It seemed that Laurie wasn't the one who opted to show off a little (presumably) - she spotted a Bourke going more than just a bit overboard with the indestructible bubble spell, filling up a good portion of the classroom. It brought an amused smile to her face: maybe she wasn't the only one offended by the task. That, or maybe the male was very, very bored. 'Can't blame him.'

It was time for the class to move on. As the teacher posed the question, the Spencer retrieved the lollipop from her mouth prior to speaking. "One's to cut up stuff, the other's to repair that stuff. Are we gonna be chopping those dolls to bits?" They were still pretty standard spells in general, but at least they were the kind of magic that people could have fun with and get creative with - provided they were careful about what they cut and how they did so, of course.

Leaning back on her chair, the lollipop returned to its resting place. Hopefully the class would pick up from that point, lest Laurie start considering throwing herself out the window.

Travis' head tilted slightly in curiosity towards Professor Riverpond's minor chastisement of his 'over-exaggeration' of bubbles. Did she think he did that on purpose? Not the most important thing really, at least it show cased his capability in performing the spell as if it were some reason to pat himself on the back. Simple though it may have been, posturing had been an important response when it came to the natural response in the wild kingdom. Why would this be any different, right? His brow furrowed as the numerous amount of his bubbles along with the others had been dispatched with a simple wave of the older woman's hand. While it should've been obvious that meant the class would continue on; Travis took it all as if it'd been an extreme displeasure.

That meant the next activity needed to be performed with even grander results, it all made -perfect- sense. At least it made absolute sense to someone running purely on instincts and the pull of that roaring that emitted deep within his mind.

His eyes squinted towards the mannequin and his head shifted ever so slightly as if to examine from head to toe. Spotting the various 'weaknesses' as if it were designed to actually withstand -anything-, on a logical level he knew it hadn't been the case. Once the instructions had been given, part of him figured that had been the 'Firing pin' to go ahead and attempt the spell and he was all too willing to prove that this time he could prove that he could be intentional with his posturing. Making his way towards Dolores, arm raising up and finger tracing through the air without any verbal incantation towards for the spell, 'Diffindo', forming. In a sudden thing pulse of red light emitted from the tip of his finger and bolted forward.

Impacting against the lining of its waist, splitting it in half clearly as it started to shift and rock over before the torso fell to the ground one way and the legs tipping in the opposite direction. THAT would show it! It -had- to show it! But the show wasn't over just yet, he still needed to put the infernal contraption back together as if it weren't humpty-dumptyied. Luckily there had been a 'Spell for that' as if they were apps on a phone. Making a far more wild motion with his finger he'd enact another wordless spell, 'Repero', which started to pick up the two halves and shifting them both upright and connecting them together. Sealing the 'wound' of Dolores as if it hadn't just been mutilated at the hips previously.

A bullish huff exhausted from him as if it were to somatically display a, 'Know your place', response towards the Mannequin before making his way back to his seat and sitting down to stare with a feral glance towards Professor Riverpond.

She noticed that MJ decided to try the spell once more, the girl was hardworking, while not having much experience in such a thing she still managed to do a couple of things right and with a bit more practice she was sure that the young girl would be able to perform some spells quicker and easier without a wand. Danielle seemed to be doing great, a lot better than most. Laurie and Travis seemed to be doing okay, Travis seemed a bit more excited about the whole ordeal. While the bubbles got a bit out of hand, it didn’t mean it was a bad job.

When Laurie spoke Andy nod at the young girl. “Yes, chopping and then putting them out together Miss Kempf, I need them for my next class.” She spoke in a slight joking tone. And easy spell that might peek their interest for the slightly destruction of a doll. Before she could do or say anything else, she watched Travis following her instructions. She quietly paid attention as the young man swiftly performed both spells. “Outstanding performance Mr. Franklin.” She praised the young man staring at him for a brief moment.

“This is the last spell you’ll be performing today, after you can all leave.” She walked down the corridor and stopped halfway through it before turning around and returning to her preferred stop in the front of the class. “If anyone needs any assistance please don’t hesitate to ask. Mr. Franklin since you already performed the spell you're welcomed to leave or to try again.”

The loud form with which some students had been tackling the newest task was starting to get on Danielle's nerves - she wasn't a fan of such noises given her upbringing, and found her jaw clenching with mild irritation as they persisted. Her eyes shot to the source and she saw Travis destroying and reassembling one of various dolls around the room. Finally recognizing what the task was, Danielle decided to get at least half of it out of the way.

"Just give me a moment." She told MJ before they could continue practicing. Focusing on a lone doll across the room, the Dhampir moved a single finger through the air in a short, quick motion - a spark of red resulted from her magic use as the doll's neck was sliced clean across. It didn't tip over with the sheer precision and speed of the cut, remaining perfectly balanced atop the doll. It was close enough to the teacher that she would notice, Danielle figured, which gave her ample opportunity to return to her self assigned task - to get her desk partner through the last spell.

Just as she had done so, multiple yellow bubbles had entered her field of vision - it seemed that the Flinders had done it all on her own, and had been distracted by such a thing while Danielle jumped the hoop that was having to pretend she wasn't too good for the class.

"Oh, what do we have to do next? I think I missed it..." MJ muttered for the Bourke to hear, immediately chastising herself for not paying attention to the Professor despite the success she had shown. She had the various golden bubbles pop out of existence, and then noticed a head that had been sliced clean off a doll being floated towards them - it seemed that Danielle had been using a Wingardium Leviosa spell on the doll so MJ wouldn't have to go tackle the task on her own.

"Let's use this, alright? See what you can do with it. You have to use the Diffindo spell." The Bourke instructed. MJ nodded, taking more than just a few attempts at uttering the incantation and casting the spell upon the floating head. Various nicks and cuts started to appear in its wooden face, though nothing too deep. "Focus."

It didn't take much more; four tries after that, the nose of the mannequin was sliced clean off, dropping and falling upon the desk they shared. It brought a small smile to Danielle's lips - the more precise the cut, the more difficult it got in her experience. The girl showed promise.

"Was that good enough...?" The Flinders didn't share the same sentiment - that was too small a cut. Would that even count in the Professor's eyes?

"Yes. Now repair it and pack up, I think you're done." Despite the uncertainty, the blonde girl got back to work. Just like before, it had taken more than a few tries to get the job done; however, to her credit, she had been quite thorough and had taken it upon herself to repair every little cut she had inflicted upon the target prior to getting the spell right. As the task was accomplished, the doll was floated back to where it belonged. Perched carefully upon where it was first severed, Danielle repeated the motion she had done earlier, albeit in the opposite way; the neck became glued in one piece once again, as if the little experiment had never happened.

As the duo prepared to leave class, Danielle hesitated - heartbroken or not, she still cared for her werewolf friend. However, she did realize he didn't seem too delighted with her presence. Pessimism clouding her judgement, she wound up exiting the class after MJ once permitted by the teacher.

The Professor's joke didn't seem to resonate too well with Laurie, as her face remained as blank as ever - whether it was because she didn't quite get it or because her reaction was a byproduct of her generally poor mood for the class in question was up for debate. A Bourke who seemed to think the poor mannequin was his antithesis had decided to make quite the flamboyant showing of his victory versus the inanimate humanoid, something she didn't quite understand - that guy looked like he was ready for other classes, what was he even doing there? Trying to show off? While at first she had been amused by his antics, they were quickly starting to veer towards just being obnoxious.

'Get a life, mate.'

Inwardly rolling her eyes, the Spencer stifled a sigh in frustration. She decided to focus on her task with the intent of ditching the classroom as quickly as she was able to - which, given her absolute need of completing spells without the use of incantations, proved to be quite the challenge. Laziness made it so she didn't even bother getting up from her seat to challenge one of the mannequins, and the distance added yet another layer of difficulty.

The inherent challenge of the task seemed to lift her spirits in itself. She gradually focused more over time on getting a spell out, various flashes of red emanating from her fingers without a cut to accompany them; after several times, something was cut, although it had not been the intended target.

Perhaps it was pure luck that nobody sat in front of her - the slice Laurie had finally accomplished had gone clean through the desk in front of her own, causing both sides to slide backwards under their own weight and collapse in the middle. "Well, that works." While she hadn't hit the intended target, she seemed amused at the fact the table had become quite the casualty.

"Sorry, I guess." She waved it off. If anything, it made for the perfect time to test out the repair spell instead. Much like before, she took quite a few attempts at it, eventually achieving success without an incantation. "Not too shabby, eh?"

The mannequin should've, if it had feelings, felt lucky that he deigned to even show less than a half of a fraction of what he could do to it! And all for the sake of posturing as if it had been the wilderness that called to his very soul. That he hadn't left it on the ground a broken mess simply out of a request of him, not even the thought that he -had- to in order to for the class count as a success for his records came to mind as an actual reason in that moment. In fact, that he even repaired it back to its original standing? It should feel freaking -grateful- in his mind of the generosity that he held, something that could only be attested and witnessed by those close enough to him.

For a split moment he'd forgotten everyone else in the room, not that anyone had -really- been paying attention. It'd only been one he made his grand standing did he feel the warped atmosphere of attention that sent the static of awareness rush through the lining of his spine. It hadn't mattered anyways, his job had been done and the intention followed through without even hesitating or delaying. His attention shifted toward Professor Riverpond - had class been over already for him? His head canted towards the side for a moment - he could just go to every other class to properly hunt his quarry. . . That seemed to be the correct path for him.

Without much acknowledgement of a nod he made his way out of the classroom after taking up his things in a unkempt manner and shuffled out fully. The day had yet to be over, it'd only been a brief intermission until his hunt would commence once more.
