Today was not her day.

Samhain couldn't help but to think that, as she felt the ground go out from beneath her feet. One of her peers, a Flinder if she remembered correctly, stood before her, a mocking smirk on her face. Her friends were circled around them, so she didn't even bother struggling. Besides, there was no point in struggling against magic. The girl was holding her wand in front of her, focusing on holding her in the air.

The Sturt student sighed, knowing it would make them happy to see her panic. She just hoped they'd get this over with soon, before anything else could happen.

And then it happened. The girl flicked her wrist, and Samhain found herself flung through the air. She could barely squeak before her head was underwater, and she flailed, returning to the surface. Her face flushed bright red, upon hearing the laughter of the girls.

The day hadn't started out too bad for him just the usual classes and more of the awkwardness that came about from recent events that occurred through out the week. Alexander's hand weaved through his raven hair as he sighed with a slight shake of his head. "Things are just so crazy these days. . .  Well at least it hasn't been entirely bad, still some fixing to do but I think I can through it out. " How a single person could manage to step into a minefield of drama almost every step of the way in his school life amazed him to no ends. Suddenly he stopped hearing a chorus of giggling and laughter that seemed as if people were having just a bit too much fun, maybe it was his kind of fun? The young man started to turn around the corner with his guitar strapped to his back.

A collection of what seemed to be only females that sounded a bit more mocking than originally assumed to be. Eyebrow arched up curiously as he seen a wand whip upwards in a trained motion that flung a body wrapped in blue that crashed into a nearby lake. Was this some kind of. . . Bullying happening?! He couldn't help it but his eye twitched in pure annoyance because what he was about to do was risky in every sense of the word. Magic used offensively should never be taken lightly and a person whose magic is about as unpredictable as the mind of a woman was equally something to be wary about.

For once. . . In his life? He wanted the fire. He raised his wand outwards and started to trace the tip of it through the air for a sort of surprise attack. Luckily for everyone, perhaps even himself, the spell worked as intended as a set of books that had been dropped on the floor started to levitate from the ground. Then a sharp flick of his wrists in a horizontal motion flung the collection of texts towards the Flinders girl while he stepped closer. "Now, now. Is that anyway to treat your fellow classmate?" A boyish smirk slanted on his lips, even with the charm of the smile his unusually blue eyes honed in on every single one that had surrounded the Sturt whose face was flushed red. "You all should get out of here and leave the girl alone, for good. You don't want me to come back after you now, do ya? I can guarantee next time it won't be any kind of books. You just might. . . Get. . . Burned." That wasn't him being metaphorical, he'd put every ounce of his willpower if needed to make sure it'd happen if they decided to try and cross him.

While wand was still positioned outwards in a threatening stance he'd start to kneel down slightly with his other hand extended out towards Samhain while he kept most of his focus on the multitude of people that stood around. This. . . Was the kind of thing that twisted his stomach in disgust, inhumane actions at its finest. "Come on, stand up. If they try anything they'll have more than just some guy and his lovely guitar to deal with.

Sputtering and shaking her head, Samhain floundered in the water. Her hair was flat against her head, and she shook her head again to try and get it out of her eyes. However, she could only be glad that her backpack hadn't been on when she'd been thrown in, as Bumble was fast asleep inside. If he got hurt because of her, she'd never be able to forgive herself.

She was surprised to see some books suddenly be flung towards the girl who'd toss her in, the books slamming into her. The Flinders girl huffed, with her team of friends giving him a dirty look. But, seeming to decide it wasn't worth it, they flounced off, noses in the air.

The Sturt student stared at him in shock, reaching up to accept his hand. She struggled onto the land, shaking her head again. "Thank you." she panted, bringing up a hand to wipe her hair out of her face.

She looked rather like a drowned rat; her hair was splattered against her head, and her clothes clung to her, revealing a frame that seemed too thin to be healthy.

Alexander snorted at the response of the Flinders girl and her friends as they retreated from the scene. "Merlin, that really grinds my wand." He shook his head in disgust at how some people seemed to operate themselves. Though he was hardly surprised, bullying wasn't something that would ever be exclusive to a central school or area, people were just so hateful of themselves and others that all they could think to do was lash out. Either way, that wasn't his concern now that they became a non-issue in every sense of the word. If need be he'll deal with them much later on and he knew just the two anti-bully people to get on the case.

Slowly he'd slide his wand into a small loop that hung within the presence of his robe along with assisting Samhain to stand up and step out of the water. Drenched from head to toe it looked as if her clothes hung against the form of some Barbie doll that hadn't seen food in quite some time. That or just had some really insane metabolism that he couldn't put his finger on entirely, truthfully. "Hey, no need to thank me. Any proper person would have stepped in and done something. Those sheeple's will get what's coming to them don't you worry." Even if it laid squarely on his shoulders to retaliate they'd know better to get on the other end of a Spencer's crosshairs, especially this particular one. He'll make sure to fill each of their hair products with some Nair and hopefully they'd get some on their eyebrows too.

He looked around to see if there had been anything left around and when the backpack had been spotted he walked over and leaned over to pick it up from the ground and handed it towards the girl. "You don't look so hot, maybe we should stop by the nurses." Who knows what was actually in that lake or if the girls did any lasting damage or wounds. He'd rather be safe that the skinny girls health was more stabilized. "Actually, yea, come on. I hear she's pretty neat so it shouldn't be too big of a deal, yea?"

Samhain brushed her hair back from her eyes, ducking her head. She didn't much like to make eye-contact, as it seemed to make her father even angrier. It had been a long time since she'd been willing to make eye-contact with someone.

She fiddled with her clothes, trying to straighten them out, although the uniform was drenched through and she couldn't see a way to fix them unless she knew a drying spell, which she didn't. Samhain wrung out her hair, before running her hands through it to straighten it out.

The Sturt student raised her eyebrow; she'd never heard anyone else use the term before, and she couldn't help but to find it funny. It really was quite fitting! "I sure hope so." she sighed, shaking her head.

The relief on her face when he handed her her backpack, and she quickly opened it, carefully taking Bumble out. "I'm so glad you're alright." she sighed.

Her attention was drawn back to the boy, and a funny expression crossed her face. "I'm not sure that's really necessary." But, she wasn't terribly into conflict so, when he insisted, she simply agreed. "If you insist, then."

Did she. . . Just look away from him? Not that he found it offensive, maybe a bit rude, but there often always was a reason someone turned away. Either shyness or both parts shyness and someone putting just way too much fear into a person. Whether it was one or the other he wasn't expert enough to guess towards and more importantly he knew very little of the Sturt he had managed to rescue from the clutches of a bunch of bullies. Unfortunately for her, he wasn't going to risk using any form of spell to give her a quick blow-dry down to warm up the clothing she wore. That was just a bit too dangerous for his liking and he had already helped out in that department once today.

"Yeah, don't worry about them. Surprised you just stood there and took it but well. . . I guess you were outnumbered too. A bit of a hard call." Alexander glanced towards the teen girl as a warm smile formed. "Just remember to never let someone use you as their personal punching bag, yea? Your life is worth much more than that alone. " A persons life was much more than what other people defined for them, that was something they needed to define themselves. Hard to notice that she had quickly opened up her bag to check for something inside which just happened to be a pet that was being kept inside of it. At least her friend was okay there, that would have made this entire ordeal a bittersweet victory.

"It won't be that bad. Really, just for my own piece of mind. " Alex started to make his way towards the Hospital Wing of the main school but kept in a close pace to Samhain just in case she started to get nervous or felt that someone may try to suddenly bully her again. That was something he didn't expect to happen, however, since there had been another person around her. They'd be more dissuaded to attack for the time being. "Sorry, I tend to forget my manners a lot these days, heh. My names Alexander, Alex for short from Spencer." A hand rose up to wave dismissively about the next words spoken. "And don't worry, pranking isn't on my mind twenty-four seven. Lucky for us huh? That lake could have been doused in food coloring."

Looking away from the boy, she had to admit that she was rather relieved to be wet. It was actually rather cooling, considering how hot Tallygarunga usually was. She felt rather like a half-drowned rat, but she wasn't as hot as she'd been before. She ran her hand through her hair, trying to get it to stop dripping on her face. The Sturt student wished she knew the drying spell, but unfortunately she didn't.

She chuckled awkwardly, rubbing at the back of her neck. "It's easier to just let them get it over with, they're less likely to target you again later. Besides, if you struggle, it just gets worse." Samhain shrugged. Why risk making someone mad when you could just get it over with and get away?

Her eyes widened, and she gave him a rather startled look. For a long time, her life had been defined by being people's punching bag, and they made sure she knew it. So it was rather odd to hear someone say she actually had some sort of worth. The brunette realized that there was a slight smile on her face. She stroked Bumble on top of the Quokka's head, before setting her carefully back into the bag, knowing the cushioning charms would protect the little beast.

His piece of mind? Why would he care? She tilted her head, trailing Alex. She didn't really know where the Hospital Wing was, as she hadn't had any of her Healing classes, and had made a bit of an effort to avoid it. She didn't want to risk the nurse seeing her back... or any part of her, honestly.

"Ah, no worries." she shook her head as Alex apologized. "I'm Samhain, from Sturt. Although, you can probably tell." she gestured to her soaked uniform, now several shades darker than Sturt's color. Grey eyes widened with horror at the thought of the lake being filled with food coloring, and she groaned. "That would've been awful."

The Hospital Wing had been a place he avoided himself, having someone poke around at him and checking up on his condition nearly every waking moment was a bit much even by his standards. Recently, it had mostly been attributed towards the fact that he knew the Nurses and Doctors couldn't help him in anyway. There was nothing that could actually be done except for a few pain medications. Even then there had been a much more efficient way that didn't depend on him ingesting something so toxic to alleviate the pain so often.

Alex understood that kind of a concept having chosen that kind of path in the past. "Nah, if they know you're an easy target they'll keep knocking. No one likes to deal with a fighter especially if they can give them a run for their money. Too much effort for the satisfaction bullies want. Sure, struggling may make it worse. . ." Low snickering flowed from him with a confident nod. "But they will know that each time they better earn it and hope that you don't work your way out of it. You'd be surprised how often bullies will slip up, get sloppy in those cases. Once you beat them down good and well they'll really leave you alone. Well. . . Mostly. The really prideful ones will probably come back for vengeance." He turned his gaze towards Samhain as he grinned widely. "So it's a good thing that I am most likely the target of their vengeance. Means if they're really adamant about getting to you they know they'll need to pop on by me.

Between Cass and Gerry he was certain that those others won't come by anytime soon. Those two hated bullying more than he did and that was a comfort to him. This was a story he could even probably tell his little superheroine companion.

"Samhain? That's a pretty strong name." Which it was, there often was a ferocity with names that held 'Sam' within them. Especially considering many mythologies have them as some form of strong demonic figure or even a powerful entity that ruled. Which. . . Perhaps made this scenario much more ironic than he wanted to admit it was. He lead them into a building that had been designed in a more modern setting compared to the school and started to ascend the staircase to the next floor trying to get to the nurses station. "Oh well, yeah, -now-. But later on you'd laugh it off. Like. . . 'Hahaha, Oh man, my blue robe had been turned PINK crazy.'" There often was a good side of things in some cases. "Now if they ever come back and bother you or something just let me know. I'm pretty easy to find around the school. That or you can just listen for the music playing" A hand ran along the neck of his guitar that hung at his back in all of its shining blue essence. "Sapphire is usually always playing a tune for me."

Samhain trailed behind Alex uncomfortably, fighting the urge to run. Her whole life, it had been ingrained into her to avoid doctors; they'd find out what her father did to her, and then she'd be in trouble or taken away, and she'd lose the only family she had left. She'd be thought of as a worthless freak, being a Witch who got beaten by a Muggle. And she was already thought of as weak by most, and she didn't want to encourage it.

She tilted her head at Alex's words. Indeed, people would usually go after the weak targets. But, then again, with a repeat bully, you know what to expect. You know how far they'll go, and what they'll do. It was better than having a new tormentor every time. Besides, if you fought back, it made them angrier, which made them worse.

However, she couldn't help but to frown, concerned that they would go after the boy who had saved her. "I'm sorry if they do; you really didn't need to step in like that." she felt rather guilty, feeling as though she'd just caused him trouble. He might as well have painted a target on their backs, and he hadn't been forced to do so.

"Strong?" she echoed, unable to keep the surprise out of her voice. She'd never, ever been called strong before. Okay, she'd been called strong, but in a bad way. Strong, as in built like a man. With a square, blunt face and a strong-shouldered frame like an ox. And that was how she saw herself, no matter how she actually looked. "Thank you?" she said, unsure.

They began to climb the stairs, and she felt further uncomfortable. She really didn't want to go to the nurses, but she wasn't in shape enough to run. Samhain forced a bit of a laugh, nodding. "That would be rather funny, I suppose. They'd have to use strong food-coloring though." She couldn't picture herself in a pink uniform; the only color she tended to wear was black, or at least dark.

"I... thank you." she was at a loss for what to say; why would he put himself on her side? What had she done to earn his allegience? "Sapphire?" she echoed, looking at his guitar. "She's very pretty. I bet she sounds really good."

Alexander gazed back towards Samhain every so often just to make sure that she was fine and steady on her feet. It didn't look like she took a major whipping from the people that had been bullying her but he also didn't know the full scope of her history with them. If she'd been someone who had been at the school since  a young girl then it is perhaps likely that they've been following her around much longer than he could have guessed. That must suck. . . On such a massive Merlin's staff level.

"I didn't need to. . .? Well, of course I did." He stopped from walking just for a brief moment to look towards the thin young girl. "Leaving someone in need or danger just isn't my style. You needed help, I gave the help. I knew what the consequences were for myself in doing so and did it anyways." Alex flashed a smooth yet warm smile towards her as he nodded a few times. "There are a lot of stuff that happen to people that others ignore or just don't know about. In most cases people want to help but never find the courage or that bravery." He shrugged and turned back around to continue their walk. "So, I figure, maybe if I help out the people I come across every now and then they'll build up bravery of their own and help someone else out. Domino effect!"

There had been other factors but bogging someone he had just met down with the real reasons for his motivations just didn't suit him that well at the moment. "Uh, yeah, strong. My pops kind of had a thing for searching out the 'right name' for me, or so he said." He chuckled a bit at the thought, albeit sadly. "You have a name that sounds fierce, inspires a sense of strength that is near otherworldly. Dignified, at that!" His hand rose up and gently waved dismissively at her gratitude that seemed to have an inflection of a question behind it. "You're welcome! You don't need to thank me though. "

"Hm. . . You're right on that! I'll have to consider that idea more in depth. We could always use it to really mess up those other kids clothing. It will be glorious, trust." He manipulated his fingers to make the sign for 'A-Okay'. To try and add some form of validation to his final words.

He bowed dramatically. "You're welcome~! Thank you as well! She's a bit feisty, especially lately, she's been a bit of a jealous bug! But her sound is profound and the music is always heart lifting." At least it was heart lifting for the few that managed to hear him play as well as to himself. Finally, they made it to the door of the nurses station as his fingers clutched along the door's handle and pushed it opened as he narrowed his head towards the inside. "Come on, I'll go in with you. Which is a big leap! Nurses and doctors wig me out sometime. Haha."

Josie walked around the hospital wing, humming lightly to herself.  The weather was back to being fairly hot, but she wasn't too bothered by it.  There were a few students lying in different beds, mostly small little bugs that would more than likely go away in a day or two.  With the term in full swing she was slowly getting to see more of the student body, whether they needed something disinfected or cleaned up, or those like the poor sods that were snoozing.  She wouldn't be surprised if at least one of them was eating something intentionally to make them sick just so they didn't have to go to class.  She didn't mind too much--she had the space, and it helped keep her a little busier.

Hearing voices and the turn of a door handle, her heels clicked as she made her way over, curious to see who would be coming in next.  The door opened before she could get to it, and she found a tall, older looking student [was he a seventh year] and another student who...well, she looked like a drowned rat.  She placed a hand on her hip and shook her head.  "Anyone care to explain what happened?"

Samhain trailed after Alex, careful to try and keep up with him. She hated all the stairs at school, and they left her terribly winded. Although, she supposed, atleast she wasn't at Hogwarts, or one of the older schools that had more floors than students. She couldn't imagine having to take those stairs every day; it would probably give her a heart attack. Or make her lungs explode.

"Still, I appreciate it." Seeing his feet stop, she did as well, not wanting to run into him. She was taken aback by his warm smile, and couldn't help but to chuckle as she followed him. Help someone so they'll help someone? But how would it benefit him? Perhaps it would come back around and he would be helped at some point?

"I've never understood why my parents named me what they did, after a festival. You don't exactly see people named 'Yule' running around, do you?" she chuckled.

Oh no, had she given him an idea for a prank? She grimaced, hoping he wouldn't target those girls. They'd take it out on her, even if she didn't have anything to do with it.

Feisty? Jealous? How could a guitar be jealous? But, then again, she tended to anthropomorphosize Bumble as well. "She looks like it would be."

And then they were in the nurse's office. She looked around for a moment, seeing some students laying in the beds, before turning to face the nurse as heels clicked up to them. Samhain cringed, looking at the floor, before giving Alex a pleading look. "Ah, s-some students threw me into o-one of the lakes. A-Alex helped me and w-wanted me to g-get checked out."

"Hehe, Yule? As pretty of a name as it could be I could only see people trying to walk around them for about twelve days giving a bunch of offerings." A slight smirk pressed onto his lips at the mere thought of it all. Could someone really end up dealing all that much of teasing? Well, someone probably was somewhere out in the world but at least they had a pretty cool name to fall back on. "I had to ask one of my parents why they gave me a name they did, a bit of a nickname I am guessing. They didn't give too much of a straight answer." Not an entire truth, but the question did linger on his mind - why did his Mother give him that particular name? What was the importance to her on that level that only she would call him it.

She indeed had given him an idea for a prank and the targets were all the more worthy of it. He could have decided to go down a worse route for this particular idea but he figured something nice and simple could be good. Maybe even tag it up a bit for them so they knew who to direct their anger towards, if they were gutsy enough that is. The prospect alone was interesting and nothing passed time like putting a bunch of bullies into their proper place, back at the bottom.

"Hehe, She thanks you! We've been through a lot together so she often gets a bit personal if I start spending time with others, guitar neglect is bad neglect." He tried to make a slight joke but it wasn't a lie entirely. These days he didn't have much time to play his guitar which had been a bit of a downer but it just meant he needed to open up a schedule to do his thing, just a random jam out session.  As they passed through the door to the nurses station he was stopped in his tracks by the already waiting woman before them - she barely looked older than himself.

Eyes traced from head to toe as he blinked a bit. 'What, is every female teacher walking around her a freaking knock out? First Cass' aunt now this nurse?' "Oh, hey, yea it's fine! Seen a bunch of bullies gave em' what for and sent them packing." A hand gently pressed on Samhain's shoulder in a comforting fashion as he glanced at the young girl after her pleading look at shifted towards him. "I'm no doctor or anything so I wasn't sure if she had been injured or something. Figured it'd be best to bring her straight here, just in case. " He nodded towards her just to let her know it'd be alright then turned his full attentions back towards Josie. "Don't worry, I didn't do anything too bad! Just checking up on a fellow student.

Great. This is one of those antics that'd get around the school and tarnish his 'CooL Rockstar' image he had been trying to save. Oh well. Some acts were worth tainting that image.

The female student gave a short explanation and Josie had to lift her arms, folding them as she raised an eyebrow and thought about what was said.  "The...lakes?  You came all the way from Narragyambie like that?"  'And never dried' she added in afterthought.  She'd certainly gone for one hell of a swim.  She was feeling unsure whether Alex actually had helped her, or if she was stuttering because he was one of the ones who'd done it.

Her blue gaze turned to the male, whom she gave a discerning look.  Her gaze narrowed as she watched him give her a once over.  She straightened her back, trying to appear taller while she chewed the inside of her cheek.  She listened and watched the two.

After a time, her gaze softened, as did her stance, and she waved for the pair to follow her.  "Come then.  I need names--both of you."  She stopped next to a bed, unwrapping her stethoscope from it's scarf-like position around her neck to wear it properly.  "Sit, please." she directed to the girl.  "We're gonna check you over. "  Her gaze lifted to the male--Alex--and she stared at him, as if daring him to try and walk out of this room before she was finished.  "Then their names too, if you know them."

Samhain looked down at herself, and was glad she'd been wearing the school robes over her shirt, all things considered. If she hadn't, everyone would've likely gotten a pretty good show. Without thinking, she wrapped her arms around herself. "Y-yes ma'am." she nodded, flushing. And that's why she didn't like to leave the campus, something bad always seemed to happen. If it wasn't the other students, it was her making a fool of herself. Last time she'd been to Narragyambie, she'd walked into the door frame of a shop. And another time, some kids had thrown candy at her feet, and she'd slipped on the gum balls.

The Sturt student was quick to follow the woman's instructions, trailing after her. She looked at the bed hesitantly, before sitting down stiffly. "I-I'm Samhain, m-ma'am." She'd never been in the hospital wing before, or to any doctors to be honest, so she wasn't sure what to expect.

A gentle nod flowed towards Samhain as a form of comfort that everything would end up alright. That was until it was cut shut by the towering gaze of Josie that peered his way which caused an eyebrow to arch upwards in curiosity on the inquisitive stare. Either way his job was done or what he thought was done until the Nurse beckoned for both of their names and his body stopped instantly enough that his blood felt as if it were running cold. Crap. This was the one reason he didn't want to really stay long in the office himself to avoid being ousted or recognized and it a sent a frustrated sight right out of him. This is what trying to be a good Samaritan ended up turning into and by this point he wasn't sure the kind of tale Josie could be imagining was the reason for his own involvement, after all, it was overly cliché - but what abuser takes the abused to the nurse themselves?

Alexander watched as Samhain started to wrap arms around herself, which he took as her trying to keep the dampness from causing too much of a chill. "Uh. . . Probably might need a drying spell of sorts. That look's pretty uncomfortable." He tried to change the subject to avoid answering about his own name but that seemed to be a fools errand as Josie pierced a gaze as if to dare him to leave the room. What was with all the people he had been meeting? Couldn't he just escape somewhere in peace? He ran a hand through his hair in slight frustration at the fact he had to stay and irritation at himself for getting caught up enough in a situation that dragged him to the one place on the Campus he had been avoiding since the Summer time.

"Alexander Winfield, that's my name. As for those bullies I don't know them, don't really go about asking names and numbers when I'm tossing punks out of the area." He turned his gaze towards Samhain while his pressed hands into the lining of pants pockets that were worn. "Samhain might know them. They seem to be a constant bother for her." Part of him hoped that'd stop now he could handle himself if they wanted to take a bite at something more challenging.

"Strong girl." She said quietly.  She herself would have gone into to town to get something--anything--dry.  Probably would have sat down with a bowl of ice cream, too, if she'd been thrown in.  She would have been a sobbing, heaping mess herself--especially at that age.  This girl was taking it in stride.

She noted that the girl looked terribly uncomfortable.  Did she not like medical visits?  She looked over to Alex, pausing mid-motion.  Right.  Soaked clothes.  That would make things more difficult.    She crossed the room toward her office in the corner, opened a drawer and grabbed a plain dress out of it in the school's olive green, one that tied behind the neck and was often common in muggle hospitals.

As she walked back, she waved her wand and said a spell quietly, and soon enough a pen and some paper were flying behind her.  On the left said, it wrote Samhain, unknown surname and on the right, Alexander Winfield.  She looked at the boy, the name clicking in her mind.  "Ah, yes." she said.  She, like the rest of the staff, had received notice of him and his peculiarities.  She gave him a kind smile.  "Thank you for bringing her in."  Her suspicions were alleviated for the time being.  "Although, my dear Spencer, I wouldn't go around telling teachers what you did.  It might have been in her defense, but you can still get docked points and detention."  She held a finger up to her lips to signify her own silence.

She walked around hte bed, drawing curtains and handed the small girl the gown.  "If you would please change into this.  It'll make things easier on my end.  Just going to do a routine check up.  Heart rate, check your lungs, temperature, height, weight, all that good stuff."  She closed the curtain in its finalty behind her as she turned around.  "Let me know when you've changed."

She waved her wand about, and soon a measuring tape came flying across the room.  "Don't worry, you're not getting the full run down yet.  I think for our own records though, getting your healthy weight and your height will do.  Just in case."  She gave him a small wink as the tape stretched itself out, and the pen set to writing again in his column.  "There's a scale under the next bed, if you would."

The girl cringed, reading the annoyance in Alex's body language. She'd long become rather good at reading people, and she felt rather bad. He hadn't needed to help her, and it had only caused him trouble at this point.

She suddenly found the bedding interesting as Alex hinted that she knew the bullies names; she really didn't want to say it. If they got into trouble because of her, things would only get worse.

Samhain looked at the nurse oddly as she pulled out an olive green dress. However, at the sudden movement as the papers and pen flew at them, she flinched. She hadn't expected that.

Thankfully, it seemed, Alex had alleviated the Nurse's suspicions, as she suddenly seemed to be kinder towards him. And calling him Dear? However, at the mention of him getting docked points and even getting detention, she grimaced. She didn't want him to get in trouble because of her. However, thankfully, it seemed the nurse wouldn't say anything.

Her eyes never left the nurse as she closed the curtains, seperating them from Alex. She accepted the gown with a quiet "Thank you," and waited for the nurse to leave before undressing. Her shirt and pants (trousers, they called them trousers here) were folded and set on the bed, and she pulled on the gown, fiddling with the tie for a moment. As she tied it, she wondered what exactly constituted a check-up. How did they take your heart rate? Check your lungs?

After tightening the gown, she poked her head out from the curtain, waiting for her to be done with Alex before speaking up that she was done.

At least he and Josie agreed on something similar, Sam could be considered a pretty strong girl. Though the basis of why they thought so was different the similar presence made it some pretty common ground. He didn't want Samhain to feel responsible, however, about his presence or even the discomfort of being within the nurses office and the fact of her 'Ah Yes' being voiced showed she too was aware of his very awkward situation. Alexander cleared his throat while his eyes shifted from left to right thankful for the fact that the young woman he had guided to the Nurses station was the primary focus. He didn't need to get any kind of attention for something he knew couldn't be assisted so easily.

"Ah, you know, all in a days work." Hearing her kind warning his hand rose up and gave a formed 'Okay'. "I have no idea what you mean, Ma'dam Nurse, I merely brought a student in who looked as if she needed to see a profession on the premises!" A knowing grin formed on his face as mums was indeed the word in this case. Not that he thought he'd get into trouble but not every faculty member would be accepting of the way he had handled things even if it had been the right and proper action. Some were just too addled with rules to a very scary point. At least it was a counter to the more flippant people that he had met so far.

"Seeing as. . . I am not needed here, I'll be on my way!" He gave a gentle wave towards Josie and his gaze only half shifted towards the closed curtains that separated him and Samhain, purposefully avoiding looking too deeply in the area in case he caught a glimpse. He wasn't some weird pervert. "I'll see you sometime later, Sam! Treat you to a good meal at lunch time or something, alrighty?" If he wasn't stopped or forbidden from leaving the room again he'd start to make his escape, er, leave.

As Alex stated he had no idea what she was talking about, she smiled and gave him a nod.  "Must have been someone else." she said softly.  She was fine with letting him leave, so long as the girl didn't request him to stay.  It was between the teenagers how it was going to work.

"Oh wait, Alexander!" she said, glancing down at her paper, which managed to write down his height at least.  "That's five points."  she said smiling.  Turning, she saw Samhain sticking her head out of the curtains and moved to pull them back again.

She waved a hand at the measuring tape, watched it stretch out again, the pen wrote, and then it folded itself up and landed on the nearest bed table.  She smiled and nodded.  "Okay honey, let's get you looked over.  Why don't you take a seat on the bed?"  She tapped her wand against the stethoscope, waiting for it to start to heat enough to at least be warm.  "How old did you say you were?"

She noted that the girl appeared to be a bit lost and confused.  She made a note to explain things as she did them.

Samhain hesitated, waiting for the nurse to be finished with Alex. It seemed to not take terribly, long, and than Alex was beginning to leave. "T-thank you." she stammered, raising her voice as best she could so he could hear her. And then he was gone, escaping, and she wished she could do the same.

Why her?

"Y-yes ma-am." she stammered uncomfortably, sitting down on the bed, hands fisted in her lap. The Sturt student was quick to answer, "S-sixteen ma'am."

The way her hands were, the way she stammered, the poor thing was anything but comfortable here, and while Josie could understand that just fine, it still made her a little sad.  Maybe she should try to smooth things a little?  "Well, my name's Josie, Samhain, and like you, I was once a student here."  She didn't know if it would help, but she hoped that it would.  "I graduated five years ago."  It was something.  A small branch.

"I'd use that quick drying charm Mr. Winfield suggested, but it's so hot you'll be dry in no time I'm sure.  But this isn't very invasive.  I'll take things like your weight and height for our records, check your temperature, and ask you some questions.  It's really easy and simple."  She gave her the warmest smile she could manage.  Her hands grabbed a towel and offered it to the girl.  "For your hair.  See if you can't dry it a bit."

Her feet didn't reach the floor, and so Samhain found herself awkwardly swinging her legs slightly, fingers fisting in the fabric of the borrowed clothing. She wanted to be anywhere but here, and right now if you please. But there wasn't much she could do, so all she could do was sit there and take it. She didn't think she could get far if she tried to run, and even if she did she'd have to go out of her way to grab her backpack - like hell would she leave Bumble behind.

The woman introduced herself as Josie, and said she'd attended Tallygarunga five years passed. With manners that were heavily ingrained into her, she replied, "It's ni-nice to me-et you Mi-iss Josie. Wh-what hou-house did you at-attend?"

Thankfully, the woman said she'd be dry soon enough, considering they were in Australia. Actually, the water was helping keep her cool, considering how hot she'd been before. But still, it was rather uncomfortable. The woman told her what she'd be doing, and Samhain nodded, saying, "Al-alright, ma'am."

She accepted the towel with a surprised, but grateful, smile, saying "Thank you," as she began to dry her messy, long black hair.

Still stuttering.  Well, it was what it was.  She was either painfully shy, or it was a result of the recent bullying, or both.  She made a note to get hold of the new counselor Caitlin, see if she could assist the poor girl with the bullying, at least.  Without a name nothing could be done but maybe there was something else that could be done, internally for her.

Josie bent over, pulling out a scale and setting it beneath where Samhain's feet dangled, waiting for it to zero.  "Spencer, like your friend over there." She said, as she rose again, chest puffing up proudly.  They got some fleck at times, sure, but she had always, and would always, love her house.  If nothing else they had energy and personality and entirely too much fun, but that was exactly how she liked it.  She was called ma'am and her nose wrinkled a bit.  "Just Josie is fine."  She wasn't quite ready to be a ma'am yet.

She waited as the girl dried her hair before saying.  "I'd like you to stand on the scale, my tape will check your height at the same time.  Now...do you have any pains, stings, cuts or anything else?"  She may as well start narrowing down any potential injuries or infections as she walked her through the process.

So the woman was a Spencer, then? It... seemed to fit her, she supposed. Although she really couldn't say whether or not, yet, as she and the woman had only barely interacted. She was clearly protective of her patients, but also seemingly kindly. Then again, weren't all Nurses and Healers like that? At least, they seemed to be in the books she read. She didn't exactly make a habit out of visiting the Hospital Bay. Or doctors.

Samhain looked down when Josie pulled out the scale, seeing it be set beneath her feet, numbers flicking across the top. The woman seemed to be proud of being a Spencer, puffing up her chest as she stood. The Sturt lowered her head as Ms. Wilson told her to call her just Josie, saying, "S-Sorry m-, Jo-Josie."

Once she was satisfied that her hair was dry enough, or at least that it would no longer drip, she folded it and set it beside her, standing as the woman told her, on the school. The woman asked if she had any pains, stings, or cuts, and shook her head, "N-no." Any she had, after all, had healed a while back.
