Another day, another excruciating training session - but at least Amber's back was (mostly) intact, and she could walk home by her own two feet without any injury making her pass out in that same park again. It had been a particularly exhausting three hours, even for someone with her conditioning, making it so Amber really wasn't in the mood to even look to be somewhere in the cheerful spectrum that late afternoon. It wasn't that she was unhappy. Oh no, not at all; rather, her muscles were screaming so much that she was afraid she'd pull something if she tried to smile minimally.

It was certainly a strange sight to behold. No smile, no hat (how blasphemous), soaked up hair clinging to the back of her T-shirt from the quick shower she had taken prior to coming back to Narragyambie, and no energy to show. She had her sports bag slung over her shoulder and earbuds shoved into her ears, music blaring out and blocking everything else. On occasion she'd hum or sing along in a low tune as she walked down the mostly empty Footy Park, though that came to a halt, and so did she, when she spotted what looked like a terrified kitten up a rather tall tree, looking down at the ground.

"...Really? Now?" She muttered. She could easily climb the tree and retrieve it, but her limbs really didn't want her to; she couldn't help but curse the fact she was only 15 years old as well, as a quick use of her wand would make things that much easier. But no. Instead, she locked eyes with the scared creature, and sighed to herself, wanting to postpone climbing the tree for as long as possible.

"...Where's Sam the Disney Princess when you need her...?"

Robin had just got back from a local store, getting new equipment was always fun and exciting, she couldn’t wait to get home and try it out on Persephone and Freya, they were going to love their new portrays, or at least Robin likes to pretend her dogs like it. She was walking through Calder Avenue in order to go home when she noticed someone. The girl seemed to be upset about something but only when Robin got closer, she understood why.

She looked up to see a cat on a tree, the poor soul seemed to be trapped and possibly can’t come down. The other girl, however, seemed to be slightly worried about the animal and seemed like she wanted it to come down, Robin couldn’t do much for her, except perhaps climb the tree herself. She tapped the girl’s shoulder lightly. “Excuse me miss.” She spoke and signed at the same time. She didn’t want the girl to start talking since she wouldn’t be able to hear her.

“Do you need me to climb the tree to get the cat?” she asked, continuing to sign, if the girl spoke slowly enough, she would be able to somewhat understand what she wanted.

Feeling a mild tap on her shoulder, Amber reflexively turned around to face the older woman. She took out an earbud just as she started talking, but noticed that the girl started gesticulating as well - she knew it was sign language, but didn't understand it. At the same time, she was speaking perfect English. Why was she signaling? She clearly wasn't mute, and signals would be useless if she were blind. Then, she was deaf?

'Great, the hell do I do now?' She didn't know how to speak sign language. Looking back up at the cat, she decided that Robin's suggestion sounded better than the Spencer herself climbing up there. She wouldn't have much trouble doing so, and she wasn't the lazy sort, but her muscles did need to rest sometimes. Looking back at her new freckled companion, Amber did the one thing she knew she would understand: she gave Robin a thumbs up, giving her a green light to climb up the tree. If something were to happen, she'd catch her, or the cat. Hopefully not both.

Robin watched the girl in front of her, the reaction was priceless, Robin tried not to laugh at the woman reacted. It wasn’t every day that someone met someone who couldn’t hear. The girl gave her the thumbs up to her question, which meant that she needed Robin to climb the tree. “Alright, hold this.” Robin said without signing and gave Amber her camera before putting everything on the ground.

The red-head quickly climbed the tree without an effort like she was used to doing that on a regular basis. “Come here kitty.” She said to the cat. Surprisingly the cat approached her and begged her for some cuddled. “Who’s the prettiest boy?” Robin spoke as she picked the cat, who seemed comfortable before jumping down. Robin held the cat in her arms and kept petting its head gently until she decided to put the feline down, which didn't go away and just stayed next to the girls.

“You know, if you speak, I can somewhat understand you, if you speak slowly enough.” Robin said and signed while laughing, she wasn’t mocking the girl, but she was mocking the situation itself. “Just because I can’t hear doesn’t mean I can’t read your lips.” She continued as she stared at the girl in front of her.

“But is this cat yours? Does it belong to someone?” Robin asked, this time without signing.

Amber took the camera before Robin even finished her phrase, and handled it with care - for as tired as she was, she was still conscious of her actions. She watched as the woman climbed up tree with ease, retrieving the lone kitten and nimbly returning back to ground level - nothing short of impressive. Amber was fairly sure that, if she had been one the climb the tree, the young animal would've hopped on her head and run away, or would've caused the Spencer to fall. Not that she was bad with animals, not at all; she was just very prone to running into bad situations.

She crouched as the little kitten was put down on the ground, reaching for it with her free hand and using a finger to harmlessly scratch at the top of its head. "Hey there, little buddy." She muttered before Robin's voice reached her ears, at which point she looked up at her - and at her signing.

"Um... No, it's not mine, but he has a collar, so..." She spoke in a slower manner, as requested. Hopefully it hadn't been abandoned. "And you don't have to sign, I can't really understand that anyway." She said as she handed back the camera. Why was she using signs to someone whom clearly didn't understand her? Had Amber walked by some sort of deaf and mute people hideout? Looking around as her obnoxious imagination flexed its muscles, she didn't find a single structure wherein they could gather. Was it underground?

The red-head watched the girl as she scratched the cat’s head with a smile. The animal seemed to be happy with all the attention it was receiving from the two girls, first, someone trying to rescue it, the rescue and now some cuddles. The girl seemed to have picked up on the fact that Robin required her to speak slower than the average person.

“I won’t then.” She laughed, understanding that the girl didn’t understand sign language so it would be irrelevant to continue doing it just to communicate. “It’s probably lost.” Robin commented looking at the cat before her. “What do you say? Want to find your house?” Robin asked the cat, which probably wasn’t going to answer her in a way that Amber could hear.

“Oh, I’m Robin by the way.” It was best if they got to introduce themselves, it would be weird for Robin to address the girl as ‘girl’ all the time she needed to talk to her. “It’s not every day that I get to climb trees to save cats.” Robin usually climbs them to take photos and be alone from almost everything, but to take an animal from a tree and place the poor creature on the ground felt sort of nice.

Nothing. Not a single door, hatch, entrance way, nothing. The Spencer couldn't see a thing. Where did the deaf and mute aggregation gather, then? 'Oh, I know! There must be some sort of magic door around here. That explains how she popped up outta  nowhere!' She visibly nodded over her own thought process. Yes, that had to be it. Sneaky, sneaky! She couldn't help but feel a little jealous over having a hiding place like that. Maybe she should just make one when she hit seventeen! Her very own underground training dungeon! She'd make the Harts look bad.

"I'm Amber." She answered, before scooping the kitten with a hand - it was so small it could fit it with no problem. Getting up was a bit problematic, however, as her muscles screamed for her not to move. She powered through it to an upright position, but her face couldn't help but grimace with the effort. Had she worked out too hard?

'Naaaaaaaah.'

"Shouldn't we call the cops or somethin'? Or, is there a veterinarian around here? To check if this fella has a chip." If the kitten had the time to climb all the way to the tree, there'd be no way the owner was still around, right? Though the possibility that the adorable little fur ball had been abandoned didn't sit well with her.

Robin watched the girl with a smile on her lips. “A weird one I see…” she thought as her smile grew a bit wider as stared at her new companion who seemed to be quite distracted with something. When Amber introduced herself Robin’s smile only grew wider but her idea of doing something to the girl faded when she saw Amber pick the cat up.

“I don’t think the police is going to help us with a lost cat.” Robin watched that cat and scratched it under the chin. “If it doesn’t have an id chip the vet won’t be much help either…” Robin could speak to the cat and ask the cute little animal where its house was, but why waste an opportunity for an adventure? “We can go from door to door unless you don’t want to.”

Perhaps the cat’s house was close to the tree, usually, animals don’t run too far away from home unless they get scared with something.

"Well, there's gotta be a place where you can drop this little guy off in case you find one, yeah?" Like lost and found... Except for pets. She admittedly didn't know much of about such things at all since she didn't have one of her own; outside of Care of Magical Creatures, the only times when she had contact with animals were when she was with Sam, whom had a Pygmy Puff, and when she went to visit Keira, whom had a little hamster. Perhaps she should get informed, since that sort of thing had been happening a lot lately.

With the suggestion of going from door to door, the Spencer looked around once again. They were in the middle of the park - the area was large, and surrounded in houses. Not to mention she was absolutely exhausted, but she could pull through for the little animal. "Uh... Sure, but where do we even start?" She asked as she lightly scratched at the top of the infant pet's head. "I mean... Not like this place is small..." Having company would certainly make that little quest easier, at least.

“If they don’t have an ID chip going someone is useless, you can drop it at the shelter but since it has an owner, I don’t think you’re in much luck.” Robin had two dogs, the information she knew the procedure for dogs she wasn’t sure about the cats. She could always talk to the cat, but she wasn’t interested in leaving that girl just yet.

Robin took a look around the part and its houses, she looked at the cat and winked at it, hopefully, they could find the cat’s home before it gets dark. “We start at the beginning.” Robin said pointing at a house. “That sounds like a good beginning.” She knew where the cat lived, but she wasn’t interested in divulging that information, for now, she was finding this girl interesting.

She walked towards a house before looking at Amber.

Amber shrugged mildly at Robin's words. The young Spencer truly didn't know any better in that type of situation, and was operating on instinct. Though she couldn't help but think there should be some sort of system in place for that sort of event - rescue for strays, but not for escaped pets? What sort of mentality was that? Perhaps she should look into animal rights. Having activist blood running in her veins, it felt more than natural to fight for something she thought was right.

"Uh, okay? Lead the way, I guess." The exhaustion made it so she didn't take charge, resigning to tiredly following this stranger wherever she went. It would be quite problematic talking to her while they were walking side by side, though, so she let a very awkward silence reign. Awkward for Amber, at least, as it was all that Robin was used to hearing anyway.

Robin walked faster to the house at the beginning, she had started with the least plausible house for the cat’s owner to live. The person lived next door, but it was going to be the last house they would visit. As Robin suspected the first house wasn’t the cat’s house. The redhead smiled pleased at the situation.

The silence didn’t bother Robin, she was used to it, but she knew it bothered a lot of people, usually people that could hear, like Amber. “You know, you can talk...I mean, I can’t listen, but the cat can.” Robin looked at their feline friend and winked at the animal. She decided to go house by house, always at a slow pace, the other girl seemed tired, while it made Robin walk slower didn’t make Robin wanting to go to the correct house.

Kitten in hand, Amber quickly picked up her pace (much to her chagrin) to follow the deaf stranger out of Footy Park, and to a house erected in its premises. It seemed that her new redheaded companion was handling the questioning herself - all the young Spencer had to do was stand by her side and lift the baby feline up for the homeowners to see, and hopefully, recognize. They were down on their luck in the first home, but neither was to be deterred.

"The cat can...?" Amber muttered to herself in response as they walked to the next house, and her gaze fell upon the tiny creature. She raised it to eye level, acute spatial awareness keeping her from crashing into anything while she engaged with the little creature.

"I shall call you Tyson for the time being." She named the fur ball after a recently graduated Bourke Chaser whom she had grown to be a fan of over the years. "Say, Tyson. You're one cute little bastard, ya know?" She spoke for no reason at all - the cat wouldn't understand her in the least, but it was a good distraction. Once she got a little 'meow' back in response, she puffed her cheeks in an effort to make a funny face at the kitten.

Robin paid attention to the interactions between Amber and the cat, they were indeed amusing, it was like watching a funny movie where there was no sound, but people still moved her lips, intriguing and even more since Amber began talking to the cat when Robin mentioned the cat could listen to Amber. The redhead walked up to some more houses, and again, no success in finding the little feline’s home.

“So? Is the cat answering you back?” Robin joked at the situation. “If you pay attention you might be able to hear it.” She smirked as she visited another house in hopes of finding the house of their new friend. It wasn’t an easy task, especially since Robin decided to take the long route, only to make the other girl walk a bit further. Robin had anything against the girl, but what was the point in making her sweat a bit more?

“No luck again, I think we just have to continue, don’t we, my Pumpkin Cupcake?” Robin spoke, mostly talking to the cat and ignoring Amber completely like she was simply the means to carry the cat around.

"Hm? Yeah." Amber answered reflexively, though it then occurred to her that Robin wouldn't have heard her response at all, which prompted to slap her free palm against her forehead in frustration. After the loud clapping noise it produced, the hand slid down gradually until it was off her face. She looked at the cat, whom seemed to be paying a minimal amount of attention to Robin due to her speaking to it.

Having an idea to solve their communication issues, Amber skipped a few steps ahead of the stranger with surprising speed, and then turned around and started to walk backwards, facing the girl in question. "Pumpkin Cupcake?" The Spencer asked, maintaining her balance with ease despite not seeing where she was going. "Better than Tyson I guess. What do you prefer, fella?" She raised the little kitten again. "Tyson or Pumpkin Cupcake? Can't help but wonder what you're really called though..." She peeked at the collar, trying to see if there was any indication of the little feline's name.

Robin watched the girl speed up the stairs and just looked at Amber with a confused look her face. “Yeah? It’s a random name for a cat or another animal, or even a person.” Robin replied, completely confused at the girl’s question, it made absolutely no sense. Amber was one weird person.

The redhead was about to continue when the other girl spoke, she didn’t catch what the girl wanted at first, but when she spoke again Robin was able to understand. “The cat’s name is Captain Mittens.” Robin said avoiding Amber to knock on the door, that after a small conversation with the owner of the house they ended up knowing where the cat’s real house was.

It was impossible for Robin to continue to play with the girl. “Well, that furball’s house is over there.” Robin spoke as she pointed at one of the houses where they had started.

"Huh?" Amber, in turn, was confused at the way Robin took her words - had she misread something from her lips? Most likely. She merely shrugged to herself and let the redhead do her thing; she couldn't help but be surprised when Robin named the cat correctly barely a second before she found the appropriate tag glued to the cat's collar indicating that same name. How had she spotted that?

"Eh? Didn't we go there already?" She asked herself for a moment before realizing it was the house next to the first family they had visited. 'Oops.' "Well, leave it to me then. Thanks for the help!" She gave the girl a nod of acknowledgement, feeling bad for having dragged her out of her way for so long at random - though she wished she had been paying attention earlier, perhaps she would've figured out the entrance to that underground club. The Spencer finally left to the indicated house after a wave, determined to get Captain Mittens to its home.
