  1. There had been a feeling of impatience in the air lately when it came to one Lisa Knotley, and the longer time went on, the thicker that aura felt, almost as if one could cut it with a knife. The break was approaching and the blonde waited for classes with bated breath, needing some sort of task or activity to keep herself from going insane after a few weeks of sitting on the sidelines. Although, despite her workaholic tendencies, not all was bad. Throughout the break, her schedule did find itself quite busy - that had been Aspen Clarke's full responsibility, and something the Sturt was quite grateful for. They had spent nearly every day of the break together, for hours on end; and, on occasion, multiple times in the same day. There had even been a day where she had gone to visit Lisa at night on her request, and the Sturt figured they could pull a second round of it all to bid goodbye at their little vacations. Just like the last time, it had been quite the simple affair to sneak the girl in; unlike that time, however, the blonde had ideas unbecoming of teenagers like them - she took to alcohol to make the seconds more tolerable. It had taken a bit of convincing, but she eventually got Aspen to agree to that little activity (much to Lisa's surprise). The conversation flew back and forth easily during the first few swigs they shared from one of the few bottles she had found over the past year laying around the school premises. However, as time went on and a potent buzz solidified in each of the girls, things turned south and the room grew distinctly quiet, devoid of laughter and amusing conversations. They sat against the headrest of Lisa's bed, dressed as if ready to go to sleep, leaning against each other in the somewhat uncomfortable silence. Not because of one another's presence or proximity, but because of what was going through their minds. At some point, the Sturt had handed the beverage to Aspen; to occupy her now idle hand, she pulled her friend's leg up to a bent position gently, if a bit clumsily, and found herself resting that hand on the top of her thigh, with a thumb running back and forth within its range. Despite her eyes being cast down towards the active finger, her gaze was anything but focused as the thoughts in her mind threatened to suffocate her at the drop of a hat. "...This is the part where I tell you to stay away, I think..." She muttered, breaking the silence, gaze stuck to the perpetually moving finger. Despite her words, no part of her body made a move to get away and escape the personal bubble of the friend she had grown so fond of. "I've come to really care about you, so... I don't want to end up screwing you over too at some point." It was remarkable how easily Aspen had broken through every barrier Lisa had so carefully built for a little over two years; and in a way she had betrayed the Bourke already by her very inaction at nipping the friendship in the bud the moment she noticed it was blossoming. She had wanted to feel close to someone again, she realized, but ultimately she knew she had been setting both up for failure and dooming the Bourke to the pain Lisa always seemed to inevitably cause. "That stuff you heard about me... From the Dueling Club. That's barely scratching the surface..." Her phrases dragged on as the alcohol took effect. She was conscious of the fact she was talking too much, but lacked the concern over what her words could end up doing to herself; the care for her friend dominated. "You already know I'm a lousy friend. I'm also, let's see... Lousy daughter, lousy sister, lousy girlfriend... S'just pick your poison at this point, really." She let out a deep exhalation. If only she knew how to stop herself. "I guess... I just don't want you to be next on the list." As her speech slowed to a halt, she decided to reach over with her free hand to take the bottle out of Aspen's hands, her head inadvertently pressing harder against the Bourke's with the leaning before she managed to return to her previous position; she then took a rather large swig in a vain attempt to forget her plights.
  2. It's Lisa's birthday! Go pinch her cheeks.
  3. Time to steal everyone's template. Also, I prefer Discord to discuss things, but you can always answer here. Beware the long text. Feel free to come up with any type of idea not mentioned, I don't mind any sort of plots whatsoever~ Chloe Stewart Human Muggleborn Witch | 16 | Sturt | Combat Sports Monster | Model Kit Enthusiast The daughter of two local business owners - her father owning a bakery and her mother a dojo -, Chloe is a somewhat shut in Sturt who cares way more about pursuing whatever strikes her fancy rather than socialize. She has obsessive tendencies over a select few subjects, making it so her skill in each thing rose exponentially over time, and is a great tutor to boot. Her social skills leave something to be desired. Out of respect for her mother she's trying to break out of her shell, but she can't say she cares for it much. But maybe you can help! Current Opens: N/A Current Ideas: Jamie Collins Human Halfblood Wizard | 22 | Australian National Quidditch Team Seeker | Living Merch Machine | Former Bourke Half the product of a Muggle cartoonist and a pureblood witch whom dropped everything to be with him, Jamie is ultimately the end result of a broken household (along with his sister). While his public image - as well as what most know of him - portray him as a smack talking bad boy/ladies man, he actually prefers to keep to himself and is a rather nice individual. He hangs out in both Narrie and Melbourne, depending on the day. Maybe your nerds should meet him! Current Opens: N/A Current Ideas: Evelyn McCarthy-Parsons Halfbreed Veela Witch | 28 | Corrupt Auror | Former Sturt | Tea Aficionado Continuing the legacy of a famed Pureblood family with deep ties to the Ministry of Magic, Evelyn has always been one not only to meet expectations, but to exceed them in spectacular fashion. Her sheer talent is well met by her Veela blood and interpersonal capabilities, making her a well respected member of the wizarding community. However, this is all but a front to hide the true intention behind her every move - consolidate power. Current Opens: N/A Current Ideas: Samantha Hammond Halfbreed Veela Witch | 15 | Bourke | Cinnamon Roll | Mother Hen A very innocent yet friendly girl, she'll befriend you if you have a pulse. Bright and upbeat, she believes she exists to bring love and joy to the world, starting with you. She loves to hang out, have fun, care for people and go out on adventures with them. Unfortunately, she seems to be very susceptible to being manipulated and charmed, which might make people take advantage of her for kicks. But maybe your dorks should protect this cinnamon roll instead! Current Opens: N/A Current Ideas: Alex Lin Squib | 22 | Drummer | Child Caretaker | Cartoonist Say hi to Jamie Collins' twin sister, Alex. She probably won't say hi back, but please bear with her. Past the obvious daddy issues, she's not half bad. She works really hard due to perceiving herself as having a disadvantage in comparison to Jamie, and if all goes well she'll have a few beers with you instead of punching you in the face. It's a bit of a gamble, but a worthwhile one! Current Opens: Nasty Habits Fish Out of Water Current Ideas: Rachel Ryan Human Pureblood Witch | 17 | Sturt | School & Sturt Quidditch Team Beater | Resident Tsundere A victim of childhood neglect and many uprootings, Rachel doesn't have a place she can call home, or someone she can see herself be close to. The lack of attention from her parents growing up led her to think she's worthless in the grand scheme of things, and thus she isolates herself for the greater good. The most effective way she found of doing so is being a jerk to everyone she meets. Will you get through this front or will you just be another victim of her sharp tongue? Current Opens: N/A Current Ideas: Meadow Richards Human Pureblood Witch | 16 | Flinders | Aspiring Nurse | Sickly Meadow (or Amy, if you prefer) has a hard fought life. Sickly from the day she was born and treated as a burden by her parents ever since, she never had much happiness in her life until the point she joined Tallygarunga - which she adores. She was quick to socialize and befriend people and fit right into the academic setting - but, something is off. She looks like she's hiding something. Can your character be the first one to find out? Current Opens: N/A Current Ideas: Shane Robbins Human Halfblood Wizard | 22 | VMU Student | Former Bourke | Bartender Shane is a fellow known equal parts for his music skills and bad luck. Looking way older than he should be, he has problems befriending people his age outside of his friends group. He tries to stay away from the wizarding world in general due to feeling inadequate, not liking his wand too much. His mother owns a bar in Melbourne and he frequently handles it himself. Appearances aside, he's actually a pretty friendly guy if you give him the chance. Maybe you should! Current Opens: N/A Current Ideas: Keira Hammond Halfbreed Veela Squib | 27 | Political Pundit | Internet Sensation | Horror Buff The first of the four Hammonds of her generation, Keira never set the best of examples for her siblings, try as she might. Her chaotic mindset caused her to marry while still in school, have two children, do drugs despite having children, take on a very intensive job despite having children, divorce at the young age of 25, among other things. She is definitely hard to deal with, but she isn't harsh out of malevolence - rather, out of a need to educate others. Maybe your character can get past all that snark! Current Opens: N/A Current Ideas: Natasha Roberts Quarter Fae Witch | 19 | Former Flinders | Talented Baker | Dueling Teacher The daughter of an Indian Muggle and a witch, Natasha had her family be split apart when she was very young - her brothers lived in Narrie with her father, while she moved to Melbourne with her mother. She was always very sheltered and pushed harder than she'd like, but now that she's finished her studies and moved out of her mother's house rebellion is starting to sprout. Maybe you can help her with that! Current Opens: N/A Current Ideas: Mark Sandoval Human Halfblood Wizard | 22 | Former Flinders | Parselmouth | Nature Nerd An orphan that was taken under the wing of Whitlam Bilby's and Tallygarunga's staff, Mark never lacked parental figures despite the lack of an official relative. He doesn't know where he's from or who spawned him, but isn't too keen on finding out. A socially awkward guy whom is a bit too nice for his own good, people will find it either very easy to befriend him or step over him. Which will you do? Current Opens: N/A Current Ideas: Danielle Haynes Halfbreed Dhampir Witch | 16 | Bourke | Tinkerer | Hardline Pacifist This girl doesn't know what a mundane life is. She's been on the run since she was born, lost the vast majority of people she was ever close to, and was eventually exiled in Australia along with her little sister. It's widely known she's a Dhampir and she keeps mostly to herself, distrusting people and disliking open areas. She really needs someone to tell her it's okay. Will you be it? Current Opens: N/A Current Ideas: Lisa Knotley Human Halfblood Witch | 16 | Sturt | School & Sturt Quidditch Team Captain, Chaser | Sturt Dueling Club Captain A girl who's made some very bad decisions in her life but either doesn't seem to realize it or doesn't show it. Lisa is an orphan enrolled in Tallygarunga, and her deepest desire in this world is to be better than you - a desire she devotes every single second of her time to. Whether it be in grades, skill, looks or anything else, she refuses to give up and always pushes past her own limits. Maybe she needs someone to help her cool off. Current Opens: N/A Current Ideas: Amber Cross Human Halfblood Witch | 15 | Spencer | School & Spencer Quidditch Team Seeker | Pro Wrestler She's the daughter of a pro halfbreed rights couple whom perished during a lynching. She seems very proud of them and to be following in their footsteps. She has been adopted by Sibylla Townsend and now lives in Narrie. She has a deep dark secret she keeps from everyone - even if she doesn't necessarily go to great lengths to cover it in the first place. Maybe your nerd should find out about it! Current Opens: Creepy Little Bastard Current Ideas: Diana Sharpe Human Muggleborn Witch | 25 | Former Bourke | Journalist for The Mage Newspaper | Amateur Photographer If by miracle you seem to notice Diana's presence and engage her in conversation, you'll soon realize that behind the kind smile lies a shy girl with a nebulous past. She doesn't like attracting too much attention to herself (unless it's about her job) and feels nervous around new people, but fortunately is nice enough to make it so almost any engagement is pleasant. She might need some help in being more engaging, and you might just be what she needs. Current Opens: N/A Current Ideas: MJ Clarke Human Halfblood Witch | 15 | Flinders | Ghost Whisperer | Bootleg MacGyver A friendless girl with a mostly undeserved reputation, MJ is the quiet type. The less waves she makes, the easier her day will be - not that she actually has the capacity to catch people's attention, or so she believes. In her past lies tragedy aplenty, but she doesn't seem to like talking about it; hell, she's not very good at the whole 'talking' endeavor in general unless she's close to whoever she's speaking to. But perhaps those who don't get fooled by the 'creepy graveyard keeper's daughter' reputation and give her a shot regardless are in for a pleasant surprise... Current Opens: My Kingdom For An Umbrella Current Ideas: Laurie Kempf Human Halfblood Witch | 15 | Spencer | Durmstrang Institute Exchange Student | Pranking God Meet Laurie, a girl hailing from the Durmstrang Institute. She hates it there. She really does. She couldn't be more relieved to be in Tallygarunga, even if it wasn't her first choice! Fresh off the boat, she's looking to explore the area, try new things, and thoroughly enjoy a level of freedom she never got to experience before - whether it is for better or worse, she doesn't care. Maybe your character can show her around town, and get a few Dark Arts lessons in exchange. Current Opens: N/A Current Ideas: May Bowen Halfbreed Dhampir Witch | 26 | Former Bourke | Bounty Hunter | Walking Mystery More popular than she gives herself credit for, May is a bit of an accidental social butterfly whom isn't actually that talkative at all - she's just really good at paying attention to other people's needs, giving them advice and potentially acting in their best interest. Of course, at least until the point she thinks they're prodding at her own life too much, at which point she moves on. A heiress of a criminal family in Perth, for the longest time she's been raised to evade that title, only to make the conscious decision of keeping the family business alive, even if indirectly. It's made more than a few ripples throughout her life and has made her more wary of any kind of potential relationships from that point on. Maybe your nerd can tear at that shell! Current Opens: N/A Current Ideas: Ian Travers Halfbreed Dhampir Wizard | 15 | Flinders | Martial Artist | Helping Hand May Bowen's youngest brother, Ian has been through a lot. Despite having a solid and happy upbringing back in Perth, things turned very bad, very quickly. Losing most of what was dear to him, he was sent to Narragyambie under a new identity to start anew. Taking like a fish to water to this situation while stifling his grief, Ian soon became obsessed with helping everyone - not one person has seen him with anything less than a smile on his face and a kind word to impart. But someone's niceness can only go so far, right? Maybe your character should learn how to push his buttons! Current Opens: N/A Current Ideas: If you have any other ideas, please, feel free to mention them. I'd also like to come up with previously existing interactions/possible connections to gain a steadier ground here as things start. Thanks for reading
  4. Sneaking Aspen into the Sturt Common Area (and Lisa's room, ultimately) had been a fairly simple affair, gone through without a hitch. Smack dab in the middle of the break, the pair managed to move throughout the school mostly unnoticed during the day; as they hung out and spend time by themselves, everyone had forgotten Aspen was present, let alone not supposed to be there. When it came to dinner time, so not to raise suspicion, Lisa headed out on her own to retrieve food. Given that she was an athlete, nobody said a word pertaining her taking a large quantity of nourishment along with her. They ate together in the privacy of the Sturt dormitory room as the sun set, but that only reminded her that the main event had yet to be set in motion. "So." She spoke up. By then she had moved to sit on her bed after changing to her sleeping clothes, back pressed against the headrest while she glanced over at her friend. "You said something about truth or dare, right? I like my challenges and all, but I feel like I have to place some ground rules for both our sakes. When it comes to dares, while I like a good challenge, let's not make it so we have to do things either of us can get kicked out of Captaincy for, alright?" Which, unfortunately, were a great deal of things she found fun. But, they had to work with with what they got, or else there would be a hefty price to pay. "So, within the confines of this room, without causing any damage we can't get rid of." She let Aspen get any additional rule in before speaking up again. "If that sounds fair to you, you can start because I'm picking dare." Of course she was. 'Truth' was not something she was awfully inclined to pick as a default. There were things that she just didn't want to talk about, and she wanted to honor the premise of the game and not lie.
  5. For over a year at that point, Lisa Knotley had gained the reputation of being a terrible friend (and person in general). Placing herself above others, seeing everyone else as expendable and unimportant, along with a myriad of rumors made up over time about things she hadn't actually done. That morning, it was no different - she wasn't helping her own case at all with the fact she was yet to wish a happy birthday to the girl she was walking with. She had agreed on hanging out, finding it odd that Aspen wanted to spend such a substantial amount of time with her of all people in that day rather than with loved ones, but ultimately, who was she to say no? The break had started that same day and she had nothing better to do. Perhaps it was for the best that the fact school was over usually only hit her in full swing the Monday after it happened, or else that day would have had her in a bit of a foul mood. Instead, she sought to amuse herself, and make things better in the end for her friend. She hadn't said a thing because she deliberately wanted Aspen to think she had forgotten - it would make the payoff all the sweeter. "Say, do you mind if we go to a Quidditch gear shop? I've been saving up for some gloves for a little while now, and I think it's time I got them. Give them a test drive during vacations and all, you know?" It was unfortunate that she couldn't get a gloves and shin guards combo for the girl in question, but the material she wanted was quite expensive. Besides, she could always get the rest of the equipment for Christmas if it came down to it. "It should be fairly quick. I know what I'm looking for." It cost an arm and a leg, but it was a good investment. The hour was closing in on lunch time as they walked under the weakened sunlight. She didn't know if Aspen had to leave or if she would be available to sit down and eat a meal prior to ditching Lisa, and so she needed to acquire the gift she wanted as soon as possible. She was quite surprised with herself at being able to hold the charade for that long; truth be told, she was practically giddy to see Aspen's reaction at getting a much needed gear upgrade. The extra item she had previously prepared for the Bourke's younger sister would certainly be a nice bonus, too.
  6. "Don't even think about it. I'm positive it's jinxed." Rachel looked up from the mistifying punch bowl - how stereotypical was that for a ball? - upon a familiar voice reaching her ears. Her gaze landed on Lisa Knotley, an acquaintance whom had just made herself comfortable by leaning back against the table that thing was resting on, arms crossed under her chest, and visibly surveying the area with little interest. Was the ball too boring an event for her? 'For someone who went outta their way to dress like that, ya'd think they'd be the life 'o the party.' "Jinxed? Huh." Did Tallygarunga have some sort of past with spiked punches? "Yes. I don't know if it's the bowl or the liquid itself, but if you want to start off the year without having detention for half of it, I'd suggest you leave it alone. It sucks --trust me, I know-- but it is what it is. There are always better ways to... influence, teenage minds anyway." The blonde suggested. A spell here and there would cause a bit of much needed chaos in that otherwise boring party. That, and, she'd be able to fully get rid of her handsy date. "Fine then." Letting go of her nefarious plan (for the time being), Rachel turned around and leaned back against the table as well. "No counter-curse or anything?" "I can't counter-curse a spell when I don't know which it is. I could find out, but that always takes a while. By then everyone will be back at the dorms." Bummer. "There are easier ways to meddle with the event that don't need alcohol anyway." "You got any ideas?" Rachel's fingertips tapped the underside of the table in a rhythm as she rested against it. Magic could be a hell of a trip, but they needed to be smart about it so not to get caught. "Get back to me later on that one. This party is so dull that it managed to slow my brain somewhat. I have to think on it."
  7. Humiliation was not a feeling Lisa was particularly fond of, but it was something she had to subject herself to for the greater good of the interschool team. It wasn't the first time she had gone through such a thing; in fact, from the moment she took up the mantle of Captain of both teams she was a part of, such events seemed to stack up pretty quickly, by coincidence and otherwise. That afternoon was doomed to be one of them. But, at least, she wouldn't be caught dead complaining about her responsibilities, opting to face them head on instead. She had requested a fellow Captain of another team, as well as a Chaser under her in the interschool team - Aspen Clarke - to meet up with her at The Drunken Roo a little while after their regular training session ended. There was a big problem Lisa was contending with that could use the advice of an upperclassman as to how to handle it - she couldn't raise the morale of either of her teams. A portion of the people working with her complained the training sessions she put together were too harsh, and, unfortunately, few seemed as focused on playing and winning as she was. A thorn on her side, certainly, and she didn't plan to let up; if they had a problem, they could go play for another team. What she could do, however, was motivate them to give their best somehow. And that would be where Aspen would come in. Lisa hadn't waited to walk together to the bar (which was fortunately old enough to visit). She had already sat down at a booth, crossed her legs under the table and ordered a simple watermelon slush, which she lightly sipped from the straw caught between her lips. Despite how sore her body was from two back-to-back training sessions that day (Sturt, and Interschool teams), her composure didn't seem affected at all by it as she still exuded an aura of superiority without much issue. She glanced out the window to distract herself as she waited for the senior Bourke, trying not to contend with thoughts that would inevitably make her frustrated and exacerbate the humiliation she was about to endure.
  8. The weather was finally cooling off (even if temporarily) in Narragyambie, and a certain Sturt duo took the opportunity to venture outside. Rachel Ryan, in particular, was quite happy about this turn of events - not even all the sunscreen in the world could protect her from the wrath of the sizzling sun, and that had been the second Summer she had to endure in one year. Why did Australia's weather have to be backwards? Blasted science. Wooden bat and baseball in hand, she had taken her new acquaintance to the lake area of town, wanting a reprieve from the school's atmosphere. They were on break, right? What sense did it make to stay on campus? The blonde that followed her agreed mostly out of boredom, and they wound up playing a few rounds of batting near a spot they'd most certainly have to make use of during the hotter days. "Baseball player, huh?" Lisa, Rachel's acquaintance, spoke as the ball she had thrown previously at the redhead was launched back at her. She caught it without much difficulty and tightened her grip around it as she prepared herself to throw again. "More like drunk pinata hitter if you're lucky. Is that all you got?" She didn't even mean the little jab - she was just tired of Rachel missing everything she'd thrown up until then. It couldn't possibly be Lisa's fault - she was the star Chaser of her Quidditch team, and that came with excellent aim. Maybe Rachel was just rusty? She only wanted to get the girl to do better. And boy, did it work. "Shut up!" Spouted the redhead in anger. The response she got was the baseball launched her way, and for the first time that afternoon she hit it. Hard. It had been much harder than they even agreed to, so they wouldn't lose the ball to the water; Lisa's head jerked in the direction of the ball as it flew through the air past her and into the distance. "Damn, I take it back." She found herself saying, legitimately impressed at how far the projectile made it with the swing. Rachel, however, panicked. "BALL!" She yelled out in that direction as she noticed the ball was hurtling towards someone...
