  1. Lily's Characters Always up for plotties and connections and threads, please post below with ideas! ❤️ Jez (aka: Amiradysébelle Blair) 25(ish?) | Actress, Princess, and Supermum | Melbourne Jez would be recognisable from her former role in Neighbours as well as a few movies, though more commonly known around Narrie as the eldest of Stu's brood of Blair kids. She's also a popular musician and singer, and tries to do a lot of charity type events. She has certainly gained a small brood of her own so far. She's happy-go-lucky and loves her family and making friends. Could use: friends, stalkers fans, other mums, family members (I have a Blair family tree, ask if you want to see it!), rivals, and well... any other plot ideas. Auds (aka: Audrey Adagathguarde 26 | The Headmaster's Assistant and Girlfriend/Babymomma (and the one who really organises Tally) | Narragyambie This British-born gal came over to Narrie around 7 or so years ago, and has won the hearts of a lot of its residents since, especially in the past few years, during which she has kept the Headmaster of Tally more organised than he's ever been and helped take care of his children in the absence of their birth mother, not to mention she is known for throwing the best parties in town. Not surprisingly, she spends so much time organising Alan, especially now that they are officially together and have their own child, but she seems oddly content. Could use: friends, troublemakers, past terrible/bad choice boyfriends/dates, awkward buddies, people who love fun, people who like to take advantage of others. Arti (aka: Artemisia Bellerose) 22 | Musician & Artist, Gallery Cafe Owner | Melbourne She's been touring Europe for the past couple of years or so, but prior to that Arti was the solemn girl who arrived at Tally in her Fifth year with the French accent, who ended up being abused by her father and was adopted by the former Deputy Headmaster and his wife. Recent years, she's come into her own as an accomplished artist, and has set up a Gallery Cafe in the city, where she gets quite a lot of business and admirers of the arts, and where she also hosts local musical talent now and then. Could use: friends, an art gallery partner, the musically or art inclined, troublemakers, a traumatic ghost from her past (ask for details if interested), and so on. Siby (aka: Sibylla Townsend) 249 (license says 32) | Doctor/Healer, Non-human Support Networker | Narragyambie Sib has settled into life in the country town over the past few years or so, and has been a reliable local doctor, as well as on call for St Ringo's. In between work, she tends to travel a bit, studying strange and obscure medical conditions and eccentric and rare ways of healing and artifacts involved with such. She's still hurting about the loss of her daughter, which makes her very protective of her remaining family, and she is dedicated to her support group for non-humans and making sure the same doesn't happen to others. Could use: friends, patients, other non-humans for the support network, blasts from the past, perhaps a dangerous person who doesn't like non-humans. Adoption opportunity: Siby's teenage daughter, Mairead (15) is totally up for grabs. Just message me for details. Stu (aka: Stuart Blair) 51 | Federal Minister of Magic, Co-owner of The Drunken Roo, Owner of Victoria Magical & Native Wildlife Park and Reserve | Narragyambie and Melbourne Since all his children have grown up and moved out of home, Stuart tends to work a lot more, so that he doesn't end up with too much time up his sleeve to wallow in the misfortunes of recent years. He also tends to concentrate more on other peoples' problems and currently provides support for his two best friends, Alan and Kate. He's been diagnosed with depression, which he keeps to himself and which one wouldn't even pick up on by just being around him due to his upbeat nature among others. He doesn't want to worry people, and seems to have given up on the idea of dating or relationships. Could use: friends and drinking buddies, people with young kids (for when he's babysitting his grandkids), Ministry folk, a line of swooning women, old rivals (or boyfriends that he's pissed off just by being him), teens in the sports that he coaches (cricket, basketball, AFL), or people who may know his mother who manages a reserve for endangered wildlife and magical creatures (that is now owned under her son's name). Adoption opportunity: The Blair Triplets, who are a year younger than Jezebel (mid-20s), they can be found under NPCs & Wanted Characters Cate (aka: Caitlin Sullivan) 37 | Counselor, Psychologist, Profiler, Author | Narragyambie and Melbourne This lady's had a pretty difficult life when it comes to the people she cares about, having lost most of her family while a teenager, when things were beginning to go down at Hogwarts, living through the battle itself, and then losing her brother some years later as well, becoming the guardian of her niece. Not that anyone in her new home would know much of that, only that she's worked with the Ministry in the UK and is a bestselling author. She's friendly if perhaps a little quiet, will help someone if they look like they need it, and tends to mother younger people a bit. Started becoming romantically involved with a man she probably shouldn't be with earlier in the year, but it is what it is. Could use: friends, colleagues, awkward encounters, probably to be dragged out to have fun every now and then. Cass (aka: Cassandra Sullivan) 18 | Seventh Year student (2018), Junior Dance Instructor, Co-Creator of Danger Kitty Productions | Narragyambie Being the niece and charge of her aunt, she naturally had to move to Australia with her (of course, being in danger back home was another good reason to move). She's seen her own fair share of tragedy, but tries to concentrate on the positives in life, as well as the fact that she intends to be someone who will help others, like her aunt has done for years. Flirty, boisterous, fun-loving and good-natured, she tends to brighten a room when she walks in. Though she's had a rather usual year when it comes to friends, as well as discovered her true identity as a pureblooded sidhe fae, she is able to be happy with the good things that had happened, including an impromptu marriage to fellow Spencer student Alexander. Could use: friends (just one really good friend would be nice), partners in mischief, victims of her wiles, bullies to antagonise, someone who really gets her. Gem (Gemini Demetra) 23 | VMU Student, Performer, Main Guitar and Vocals for her band Franklin Struck Gold | Melbourne A single mum with an attitude, it generally depends on what the other person around her is like as to whether said 'tude is good or bad. She's pretty easy going and free-spirited, feeling like stress is for people who don't know how to enjoy what they have. She faces her problems head on and pretty bluntly. Though despite her generally relaxed nature, she has a scorching temper if someone presses the wrong button. Could use: friends, past flings, band mates (see NPCs & Wanteds), other mums to chill with, fellow VMU students, people who enjoy some good music. Ele (Elektra Devereux) 32 | IWP Undercover Agent, Receptionist at Tallygarunga | Melbourne A former Quidditch star and champion, who has retired from the sport now that she has the custody of her twin sister's daughters and is struggling with learning how to be a parental figure. She also just happens to be an agent for the IWP who is currently working undercover in the area. She did start off as the Quidditch instructor for Tallygarunga, but has since shifted to a Receptionish position since an unfortunate incident mid-year which she doesn't talk about. Currently living in a house with her sister's former partner in crime, but who is now Ele's IWP partner who tends to frustrate her to no end, but is better with the kids than she is. Could use: friends, admirers and fans, someone to make Ashkar jealous, other Quidditch enthusiasts, old friends/contacts from her Quidditch days. Adoption opportunity: Nina (11) is Ele's oldest niece and started at Tally this year. She's had a rocky start with her aunt, but is slowly warming to her. She thinks Ashkar is the best. Message me for more details.
  2. Worried? Of course Alan wasn't worried. He knew a baby would change things. He knew it would add a whole new level of complexity to their lives, and he knew it wouldn't be easy explaining that yes, he'd managed to knock up his incredibly young assistant. But it was a baby and there was no reality in which Alan did not think that was a good thing. "I didn't wanna make things more complicated until... well. Until we talked properly about this whole thing." A talk he'd been avoiding, because he hadn't felt the need to define what this was yet. He'd just wanted to explore it, enjoy it, before he tried to explain it. Alan was still incredibly cautious about anything that might resemble a new relationship, and while it was just himself and Audrey to worry about? That had been fine. They were adults. He knew Audrey deserved more than a secret affair, but at the same time she knew that it wouldn't be forever. And it was nice to have the space to enjoy each other without the entire Burdett clan enquiring about every aspect of their lives. Sure, they may have known, but preserving Alan's ignorance to their knowledge did at least mean that Marie wasn't dropping in unexpectedly to give Audrey advice on how to sit post-coitus so as to improve their chances of conceiving. Advice that was probably not needed, as it turned out. They needed somewhere a little private to do this, and a public toilet wouldn't do. Picking up the kit from the chemist, Alan pointed toward the Drunken Roo. At least the bathrooms there were clean. Alan had heard stories about the public toilets in Narrie. "Key me," he said as they walked in the door. Phil looked up from the bar, rolling his eyes at the pair. "Really, Alan? Aren't you supposed to be at a wedding right now?" "She's sick, Philpot. Unless you wanna be mopping this floor in about thirty seconds, could we please have the keys for one of the upstairs rooms?" there was an edge in Alan's voice, a seriousness rarely heard. He wanted Audrey to be safe and comfortable, he didn't have time for Phil's inaccurate assumptions. Phil sighed and tossed a set of keys over. Once upstairs, among the mediocre and dated floral furnishings of the Roo's hotel suites (Adam hadn't got this far yet), Alan sank on the edge of the bed beside Audrey. He handed her the kit. "Whatever the result, there's nothing to be worried about," he said softly. "I'm not going anywhere. And the rest of it, we'll face together like the excellent team we are. You're a better mum to the kids, and a better partner to me, than Rachel ever was. I can't think of anything more wonderful than adding one of our own to that. And..." Alan's smile turned a little sad. "If it is, and you're not ready? That's okay too. I'll be here. That's a promise." He pointed toward the ensuite, and pressed another kiss to her temple. "Ready to go find out our fate?"
  3. Although the conference was only held in Melbourne, it was tradition to take the free hotel nights and stay in the city for the duration of the event. All of the Victorian-based educators did it, feeling that if the interstate educators got a nice little holiday paid for by the department, so should they. Much as Alan hated the crowded city, the boring speeches, the sleep-inducing professional development lectures and the ghastly formal opening gala, he did love the open bar and semi-fancy hotel suites. They were late to check-in, because Alan had (not at all deliberately!) "misplaced" his glasses moments before they had to leave. And rather than being at the head of the line, Alan and Audrey had found themselves stuck in a crush of staff leaders, ministry officials, education experts, and other conference-goers. The place was busy. The conference got bigger every year with the private schools expanding, the damn things popped up like weeds every year. Another smug face, the head of a "new elite system of wizarding education" they always said. And then Kate, or her counterpart at Greyheme, would put them back in their place with their "long tradition of excellence". Meanwhile, Alan twiddled his thumbs and occasionally interjected with things like, "We cater for everyone" and "parents can actually afford Tally". Finally, they had keys to the suite and were escorted to an upper floor by a man so short Alan wasn't sure if he was actually human. He was pleasant, though, and hobbled down the hall with an odd gait to show them to the suite that had been allocated to Tallygarunga. "Pretty sure I'm gonna need a sleep after getting through that." Alan joked. The smile fell off his face though, as he stepped into the room. There was a bar---good. A table, some chairs. A rug that looked very expensive. And one bed. "You sure this is ours?" Alan asked the weird short man. Last year, when he'd brought his deputy as a plus one, they had been allocated a suite with two separate bedrooms. He'd imagined it would be the same this year. The weird short man nodded, beaming at Alan. "Yes, we hope Mr and Mrs Burdett are very happy with their stay!" he replied. "But we're not---" Alan's protest was too late. The weird short man (or whatever he was) had already scurried back down the hall. Alan groaned, dragging his suitcase in and letting it drop to the floor. Going back and getting this corrected would be a nightmare. But there was a couch, and if that was too uncomfortable Alan was no stranger to passing out on the floor. Turning to Audrey, he shrugged. "You look like a bed hog, so you might as well have it. I'll crash on the couch." It wasn't a suggestion. Alan's mother had raised him too well to let Audrey sleep on the couch.
  4. The day had started out pretty well enough for him even with the STACKS of school work he needed to grade and certain documents that needed to be done every day to be filed off towards the office. That was the one thing that good old Sparky HATED about this new job opportunity, when he was travelling? He didn't nearly have as many papers coming across him unless it was a card he needed to send out. But this was a new life and a new walk so it was something to get used to even if he had been a Teacher for a couple of years. A pit of hunger growled within his stomach as he held it and looked down. "Oh hah! Looks like I'm a hungry fire elemental, aren't I?! Let's see. . . Oh, Maybe Auds is up to something. Well, she ain't got a choice now! Bwahahaha." Self-monologue's always gave him a nice little spark within his day as he pushed away from his desk at home and pulled out his phone in order to shoot Audrey a text. 'Addy~ I'm hungry. Chinese? Taiwan? I'm in the mood for rice and chicken, maybe Sushi. COME ON! Get up and at em'! Not a choice!' He could be a bit demanding when he needed to be and mostly only with friends he enjoyed having a sense of presence around them. Especially on these boring days where he still had a bunch of papers readied, he wished he was the Headmaster at times! But then again. . . Auds could get pretty scary when she wanted to and so he opted that of the two? He was the luckier one to avoid the wrath of the Brunette. At least she'd know this meet up would inspire a good and fun time like usual. Like a bunch of juveniles he haven't learned this entire time. This began his trip towards the Central Business District where he waited in front of a few select shops that all had a mutual interest in what he had wanted to shove down his throat. He narrowed an arm inwards to cross in front of himself checking the special made watch and the time. "I wonder if I caught her at a bad time? Aaaah, Oh well, who knows? It's all good, I'll make it up to her some how. She'll probably make me add extra for bossing her around. Haha." The arm shifted upwards with the opposite one to stretch out his body a bit, he could feel the tightening of the joints crunch around like a self massage. Both of his hands pressed on the lower portions of his back to bend it back slightly as he let out a happy groan of sorts. "Now lets see. . . I'll grab me up some of the rice, chicken - you know what? I'm in a Bubble tea mood too. This is going to be a pretty good snack and grab."
  5. Rachel was like that floater that just refused to flush... And it was Audrey's self-designated job to be there for him and the kids whenever they did cop a smelly hit of the unflushable Rachel poo.
  6. Sometimes -- just sometimes -- Audrey left a gap in his schedule. And when she did, she knew where he would go. Cam and Sarah were in school, so he'd picked Octavia up from daycare early and stopped by the Drunken Roo. It wasn't the same without Matt. But it was a pub, Phil was an old friend, and the kids always got free icecream while Alan sat on his customary bar stool and wished he could go back a few years and do it all again. Tell Matt not to go into the city that day. Not take Rachel back. Not that he didn't love their three children, he would never give them up, just that watching helplessly while she slipped away in a dangerous decline had been devastating. He missed her, and he hated himself for missing her. He hated himself every time the kids asked when their mother was coming home. Thank the gods for Audrey. She kept the kids so busy they rarely found time to miss Rachel. Alan sighed, and tapped idly against his glass of softdrink. It was too early for beer. End of year conference was coming up too, which meant seeing Kate. Another awkwardness he could do without. He knew she was a mess. He didn't know how to help her either. "Daddy?" "Yeah sweetheart?" he looked down at Octavia. Somewhere through her wild hair, big brown eyes looked back up at him. She brandished her spoon. "It's got chocolate sauce." "I know, sweetheart. You like chocolate sauce." "Audrey puts strawberry sauce. And sprinkles." the young girl's displeasure was evident, and threatening tears. The spoon was thrown to the floor. Alan took a deep breath. "Right..." he murmured, looking around. For something. Anything. Anything that would distract Octavia and her impending tantrum. (Alan)
