Welcome to Tallygarunga, an original roleplay set in the Harry Potter universe. Set in present-day Australia, tensions are high between the Ministry of Magic and the only Ministry-run wizarding school in the country. Become like the other snooty private schools? Not a chance.

Originally established in August 2006, Tallygarunga prides itself on an inclusive and active community. Once part of the Tally family, always part of the Tally family. Whether you're here for the first time, the thousandth time, or returning after a long time---welcome home.

  1. A Place to Belong

It had been nearly two months since Jamie had decided to leave the house and move to Narragyambie for who knows what reason, and a little longer than that since Cole had done the same. The anxiety Alex had been enduring over it didn't make much sense - they visited hear every other day and even had her come to them on the regular and she was practically as close to them then as she was before, if not closer due to the sudden onset responsibility the two had of not leaving her behind. Nevertheless, she felt it. It made her chest tighten and her limbs tremble whenever she considered that they might just stop visiting her. That they may find something of interest in Narragyambie that would make them toss her away like useless garbage, just like her father did. She knew it wouldn't happen, yet her mind was helplessly thrown into that type of disarray on a daily basis. And that was where Tyson McKennis came in. She wasn't sure which deity to thank for that chance encounter of theirs back in June but it had been a life saver in her perspective. A source of stability (if one could call their explosive adventures such a thing) had been what she needed, one that didn't make her want to jump off a cliff with stress like her job did. Road trips followed, as well as gaming and other various activities, and it all contributed to keeping the drummer's mind off of things that were driving her insane. The pair became friends rather quickly and it was a no brainer of whom to pick the moment Jamie finally conceded on letting her get a flat mate, if only to make the house less quiet all the time. "You'd think wizards moving stuff would go much more smoothly." She idly commented as she watched Tyson get to work. She had no problem getting Jamie agreeing to him moving in due to knowing each other, and it just so happened that the younger Quidditch player would be taking the room abandoned in August. 'Aww. Like passing down a torch or something.' "Need some help there or something?" Probably not. He had a wand. In fact, past letting Tyson into the house (something she was fairly positive he could've done anyway), she wasn't sure why she was there at all.

Kiru's Splotter 2.0 Cheers! Yep, I do have too many characters, but hopefully this is a way of sorting through them more easily than before. Feel free to reply here and come up with your own stuff, I'm fairly open minded regarding plots. I do have a preference over you shooting a Discord DM at me though! See you in plotville. 3. How High Can You Go?

    Tyson McKennis
While he was no Narrie resident there were very few things in the world that the young aspiring athlete couldn't ignore. A discount on food, given his situation, had been the largest godsend of it all and organized activities that had been geared towards most likely keeping a healthier lifestyle amongst the populace. Inspiring them and incentivizing, not unlike how some coaches managed their times in his opinion. Tyson could tell the difference between those that had been accustomed to the activities and those that had still had been learning, finding their place and mostly by how key individuals had been standing on the side assisting and teaching. As for himself, it hadn't been his first rodeo in engaging the war between the agility of man against the well placed design of the walls, often finding it as an opportunity to keep his body strength up in an extremely unique way even if it hadn't been done often. He made his way over towards one of the taller ones, something about it called to him, demanded that it be challenged by the young daredevil. What more could he do than oblige it of the call it seemed to sang in its imposing statue? That had been when he started to sit down onto the ground, hands checking along his sneakers, tightening the laces and affixed the footwear to settle around his ankle comfortably to avoid any serious injuries through inadequate safety. Then he started to pull finger-less gloves out of a sports bag, pulling them on to his hands and tightening the Velcro latches right against his wrists and firmly double tapped them into place with a smoothed rub that followed right after. The young man huffed to himself taking in the air and pushed himself up from the ground giving a free stretches to make loosen up his limbs, surely enough time to get his body prepared while he awaited for a good opportunity to approach the wall. It looked like it'd been a good turn out too, which seemed like a positive outcome in his books.
  4. Moving Up and Out

Had she gotten there too early? Or was everyone else late? Alex repeatedly asked herself those questions that Saturday afternoon as she sat down by the usual booth of the group that had scheduled to meet there, already having touched her first beverage of the day - which, to her credit, lacked any sort of alcoholic content. She didn't remember the exact hour they had all agreed upon, but the fact of the matter was that the cartoonist had been sitting there by herself for a while at that point. Maybe she got the day wrong? Jamie eventually arrived by himself, quickly making his way to his twin. They had all agreed to get most of the old gang together for a small celebration over Cole having found a nice place to stay in Narragyambie, something with which Jamie had been helping him with (at least the moving part!). He knew that it was a bit of a sore topic for Alex, coupled with the rumors of Jamie himself looking to move away from the area, but he was glad his sister managed to swallow her pride just enough to be present and celebrate with everyone else. "Is that a soda?" The man asked with shock in his tone - he knew Alex was trying to lower her alcoholic intake in general, but he didn't expect her to be serious about it. A glare was shot his way as he took the seat directly in front of the woman. "Easy, easy." "Where's everyone? I've been sitting here for so long I'm positive I'm about to make a hole on the cushion." Jamie raised an eyebrow with skepticism. "They're... on time? I think I'm a bit early, actually..." "For crying out loud..."
  5. Back Again

'This is not going to end well. Not even a little.' Jamie thought to himself as he watched his sister's face contort in anger. It wasn't nearly as bad as it used to be, to be fair; although, it still disturbed him when Alex flew off the handle like that. Perhaps he could've worded the news better? Nevertheless, short of wiping her memories and trying again, there was not much the Seeker could do to soothe her rage at that point. "Are you kidding me, Jamie?" Came the obvious change in tone from the man's twin. "There's no way I'm giving her a second chance. Not any god damn way. I don't do that with people who walk out on others just because they fucking feel like it." It was not something Alex could withstand. Not after witnessing her father walk out of her life the way he did, without warning. Olivia hadn't been that close to her in comparison but they were friends, and she had done the same. In her point of view, none of that ilk should ever be forgiven. Jamie, on the other hand, sighed in frustration. He and the aforementioned woman had spoken at length about what occurred and he couldn't fault her for it, coupled with the fact of what he knew about the woman's past. If anything, he found it hard to believe Alex and Olivia couldn't relate in that manner. To see her sister blindly at odds was quite painful. "At least talk, okay? That's all I'm asking you to do." "Talk? Here's some talking for ya. Suck my imaginary dick." The woman reached for her bag to leave, not wanting to give her brother the time of day, and actively needing a walk to air out her anger; Jamie, however, had other thoughts. A trained hand reached for his wand and he wordlessly cast a spell on the front door, effectively locking it and blocking Alex's passage. The girl was bewildered when the lock wouldn't open, no matter how hard she tried. "...The fuck did you do?" She barked at her brother, looking at him incredulously. "Trying to help you be civilized, is all." He maintained an even tone despite the frustration, not being one to tackle confrontation so openly like his kin. As soon as he watched her go to her room instead, he repeated the spell; and then he followed it with all other doors of the apartment. Olivia was likely about to arrive, and he didn't want Alex barricading herself anywhere. "Just sit over there." He pointed towards the couch with his wand. "And wait. Okay? If this doesn't go well you can punch the hell out of me afterwards or something. But be an adult for once." "Tch." The squib clicked her tongue, and sat down in the couch with strong downward momentum, crossing her arms much like a petulant child having to do what they're told. 'This better be fucking quick...'

    Kirupachi
It's Jamie and Alex's birthday! Go pinch their cheeks. All four. At the same time.
  7. Fish Out of Water

    Alex Lin
Alex figured Jamie's order of staying outside for the day had expired as the sun set in the horizon. It was quite a rude thing for him to do, in her opinion - it was really cold, it occasionally rained, and after so many hours outside she felt nothing short of uncomfortable. Her drawing adventures hadn't lasted for too long as her hands were freezing with the temperatures. She eventually left the park and shoved her hands into her coat's pockets as she walked, starting to make her way home. As she did, she walked past Oliphant Lane. It was a place Muggles were oblivious of; Alex, however, was a squib. Even though she didn't have a shred of magic ability in her body, she had the ability to peek into the magical world the rest of her family belonged to. Fleeting curiosity struck her and she veered off course into this unknown realm. As she strolled through the alley, the place looked quite normal, if it weren't for the matters each and every shop seemed to cover - magical robes, wands, prank items, and any and all magical device one could ever even imagine. It didn't take her too long to come across a store that apparently sold sports good. She stood outside, looking over at the building's window, perusing the various items on display. It gave her an idea - she had just gotten her paycheck, so perhaps she should purchase something for Jamie. If anything, just to make it up for him putting up with her for so long. "...The hell did he play again...?" She muttered under her breath. It was something starting with a Q, but she always forgot the alien-sounding name. Her gaze eventually landed on a poster with some sort of team on it, which read 'Australian National Team', although it didn't indicate the sport; she did, however, notice that one of the people in the moving picture was Jamie himself, looking very uncharacteristic of the man she knew personally. "Is this what they meant by PR...?" She questioned herself out loud, forgetting about the fact she didn't even look like she belonged in the area.
  8. Nasty Habits

With getting a job came the pure joy of days off - or so one would have you believe. Alex Lin was never one to enjoy any length of time when she had absolutely nothing to do. It didn't help that her brother had kicked her out of the house for the day, spouting something along the lines of her being cooped up in her room far too long for his tastes the past few months. Being unable to work, practice drums and play videogames left her with very limited options. For a moment she considered heading to The Tipsy Mozzie, although she was quickly reminded that she was actually trying to cut back on alcohol. "The park it is!" The squib proclaimed while reaching for a few art supplies, stuffing them inside a worn out backpack and slinging it over her shoulder. She had the perfect idea to decompress - something she hadn't done in ages, drawing from life and people watching. It didn't take her too long to get to the nearest park. Acquiring a warm latte in a cup to go along with a straw, the recent graduate went to sit on a bench at an area that she deemed to be the most busy one of that little location out of experience. She crossed her legs in her seat, let the beverage rest neatly on the wood beside herself, and got to work. At some point, her activity was interrupted by her phone vibrating in her backpack. Reaching for it, she saw a number of messages from her old boss - all of which listing a few tasks that would almost certainly make her work overtime the upcoming day. She didn't mind that in itself; instead, she minded how bossy and uncaring the wording of the text made the man seem. The man hadn't rubbed off on her too well as it was upon first meeting, and that didn't help. But, unlike with the list of people she dubbed as 'clients from hell', she had a face to this man. She could give herself a little stress relief from the situation! It was an old habit of hers. She flipped the sheet over to have a blank page in front of her, and made a quick sketch of the man that was bothering her - gave him an appearance more akin to the side comic she was writing those days, and let her imagination fly. The end result was the little sketch man meeting his demise in a variety of situations as the tip of her pencil glided across the various sheets, each drawing more revolting to look at than the last. Jamie had chastised for this method of coping before, but she just couldn't help it...
  9. The Hard Decisions in Life

The school year had been fresh still, the advisor had also been breathing down his neck that if he'd intended to change now that the paper needed to go through first or that he could wait until finishing his current degree and then go into the Law Enforcement program under the same scholarship, albeit, longer time in the VMU system than intended. This had been a different kind of stress than he'd been used to in Tallygarunga, the opportunities afforded to him back then had been due to his hard work not the random hiccup within his magical heritage of being able to transform his body into limitless forms. This is what led him to 'The Tipsy Mozzie', sitting in one of the more secluded areas in the establishment which hadn't exactly been the 'usual table' for the group of people he usually sat around with. He'd already been two drinks in, a third in hand as he hunched over with a hand embraced against his forehead and his eyes closed momentarily still trying to mull everything over, as if the liquid at the end of each bottle consumed would actually gift to him the revelation of the choice. It wasn't something that he could shunt off on someone else and it still held all of the importance of effect to other people in his life. It hadn't even been his path but what if his talents actually could be useful? He leaned his head back and huffed with frustration. He wasn't sure what time it'd been, would it be around the time everyone would start to come in for the usual hang? Or was he there just way too early and lost track of everything around him? He scratched the back of his neck a bit and decided either way he'd send a text ahead towards Jamie and Alex that he'd already been here, at least for the last couple of hours.
  10. Injustice

Of course his rest day also had to be the roughest of the week. After collapsing at home at around 3 AM from the extreme training session he had endured, Jamie was woken up just a few hours later by a close friend and she nearly yelled his ear off during an extended discussion. After that, he had to clean the whole house since his sister had neglected to. When he was about to sleep, a frantic manager blew up his phone to demand why he had been spotted with a girl down at the park. It took him at least ten tries to get across the point of that girl being his sister, and so he wasn't in a breach of contract. That call had taken a solid 30 minutes. At some point he just figured he wasn't getting any sleep anyway, so he decided to watch a movie and make some lunch. Noticing Alex wasn't coming home and wasn't responding to texts, he got mildly concerned and decided to visit their usual bar to see if she was hiding out there. Bingo. As he walked into his best friend's bar, he spotted his target seemingly out of it at their usual booth. She was hunched over the wooden table, face hidden in her arms as she apparently dozed off. There was an orange juice filled glass near her - and what an odd choice it was - that she hadn't touched. He slid into the booth and sat down in front of her, which elicited an unintelligible groan for a greeting. "You didn't even bother coming home yesterday, did you?" He got a mild shake of the head as a response. After watching her for several seconds, he decided to take her beverage and sip it himself. Her head shot up in protest, revealing a copy of 'Designing Brand Identity: An Essential Guide for the Whole Branding Team' opened where her head once was. "Hey! I was gonna drink that..." Even so, the usual spunk that accompanied Alex's attitude was mostly absent, and she didn't complain much further. Jamie, on the other hand, visibly winced upon seeing her face. "What happened to you?" He spoke as he saw the bags under her eyes and the utter and complete exhaustion full on display in his twin sister's face. "You bombed your exam, didn't you?" He asked as her face landed once again on the book she was supposed to be studying. As it did so with a light thud, she raised one of her hands just enough to show him her middle finger. That got a good chuckle out of him, and he used his free hand to grasp hers and bring it back down to the table, mildly surprised at how quickly she gave that one up as well. "Oh, man. I needed that." It was astonishing how Alex always managed to bring his spirits up, whether from hanging out together or at her own expense. "...Not fair..." He heard a muffled mumble and shook his head, trying to contain his laughter to sip some more of the precious orange juice.
