  1. Event Australia Day at the Lakes

Welcome to Australia Day 2019! (Realistically set on the 26th of Jan) As one might expect, this is an open event for anyone to join in on. I figured it would be a great opportunity for characters to meet one another, have some fun, listen to music, enjoy some water sports, and nom on barbecue food and salads. It is held at Narrie Lakes, surrounded by lots of greenery and there are marquees and portable shelters and shades set up all over the place, as well as vendors for cold drinks and very well maintained and renovated public toilets. So dive in! Bring your Australia Day cheer! But no fireworks, because there's a total fire ban, given the state of the climate right now. A fun day for the whole family! (Dhampirs should wear extra sunscreen and cover up a bit, or have a very bad time... the sun is quite strong this time of year).
  2. Event What's a Party Without Music?

Prelim note: This is a kind of interactive thread, though not for the usual socialising with other people at the party. More like one where people can post their character requesting songs, either by asking Arti who will be near the stage most of the time, or by calling out to Gem. Otherwise, I'll be posting periodically to list a few songs at a time that will be played, rather than posting up a full play list in one go, so to make it more like they're switching things up and trying to insert some requests among the set. Please try not to spam requests either, that would be like shouting twenty songs at a musician at once. Haha. ------------------ Before the doors opened, there had been a playlist of songs playing over the speakers while the band set up how they wanted the stage to be. As diverse as their musical range of songs that they played, and given the requests that could be made, they needed a lot of freedom to swap and change around, often enough a few of the band members had to swap instruments out for different ones, not to mention provide extra vocals on different songs. Dean was making sure he had his drums and other percussion instruments set around him for easy use, while Trev and Arti set up keyboard and sound mixer, and various string instruments, and Alison checked on her guitars. Even though Artemisia wasn't an official member of the band, she had been the one to ask Gem if the band would play for the school. She also lent her skill often enough that they figured she'd probably be up here a few times during the night at least. It wasn't as though Gemini was really going to give the other woman a choice. She'd also managed to acquire a list of some of the musically inclined students, for her own amusement during the night. Gemini, meanwhile, made sure the microphones were properly situated, as well as her own guitars in a safe but easy to reach place for changeovers or when she wasn't using one. She had tested the mics earlier on to make sure they were all working fine. The real change that the band had undergone though was the change in name. After the news of her former boyfriend's apparent discovery to not be dead at all was officially confirmed, the entire band had decided together that they weren't keeping the name, and it had been changed to GemStruck, mostly against Gemini's preference. Sadly she'd lost the vote to call it FrankStomp. They waited until the hall was at least bustling a little with students before they finally began to take the stage properly though, the playlist volume dying down as Gemini finally spoke. "Welcome Tally students of 2018! It's the end of the year, and that means it is time to let loose and have the best time you can! To assist in that, we have Dean on drums and percussion, Alison on base and occasional lead guitar, and back-up vocals, Trev on too many instruments to list as well as vocals, and myself on lead guitar and doing most of the singing tonight. We are GemStruck, and will also be featuring throughout the night on occasion the wonderfully talented Artemisia, a fellow alumni like myself," Gemini began to strum her guitar a little as she grinned at the young crowd. "We will be playing a mixture of songs, young to old, and will also take requests tonight. You can leave some with Arti when she's not playing, or call them out when I ask for any. Pop, rock, jazz, alternative, country, metal, pretty much anything but Jpop. Anyone who requests that will be made to come up here and sing it themselves, you have been warned," The woman's brows waggled as she grinned wickedly as some of the laughter, "Now, let's start off with a classic or two and something to dance to. Do not be ashamed to sing along." With that, the band started into the first few songs for the night:
  3. Complete Call to Party

The hall had been directed from ceiling to floor, it held the banners of the four houses and the color scheme had been very much an ode to the combined efforts of the Houses. He'd wanted to make sure that everyone knew it wasn't in honor of a specific houses efforts or that certain individual's had raised an entire bar on their own. As a school they'd went through the change of having official Auror's walk and stalk the halls and even under the wonderment on if a strike or attack would occur they still kept forward with their studies. Even for the Professor's it'd been potentially rough trying to keep students on task, to have their eyes and thoughts wander more towards the school work than the ever watchful eyes and gazes that had peeked around corners ever so obviously. Derrick took his wand to officially set up the tables with a neutral color cloth of white to add more of a formal flair towards things, the Elves that had been employed as cooks brought out a various number of things. Whether it had been for the need of a snacking, a drink, or even a much more filling meal, everything had been provided for a memorable night for those that would attend. He took the extra step to centralize the stage for the eventual performers that would come to add towards the environment. It reminded him of the effort that many people had gone through to plan for the decorations and meeting with certain contacts to enhance this moment to the levels that the Headmaster's Assistant would have designed it. It may not have been on point, he was no Audrey, but if he'd known the woman as he thought he did then it had come close enough that she wouldn't give him too much of a hard time. With a flick of his wrist and wand every door in the hall widened opened and had been held open for those that had arrived early and for the ones that would eventually arrive. It wasn't a mandatory event, people had the choice whether they wanted to show up. But it had been the hope that they wouldn't waste the opportunity for a bit of fun to be offered on the School's expense and effort. Then he made his way towards the stage and affixed the flashy jacket he'd donned. A typical color of black with a blood red shirt, black slacks, and shoes that had a bit of a shine towards them. His tie that hung had been decorated with a rising flame that started at the tail of it, constantly moving as if it had been a motion picture of a fireplace. It had to be given the Sparky style of approval. "Heya there people out there! I know what you maybe thinking, this overly flashy display must have taken a lot of work, yea? Well, you'd be right. But that doesn't matter, what matters is this a night for everyone to finally be able to breath. Tests? You handled that, no need to think on them. The things that happened earlier in the year? A weight of your shoulders, they don't have any place this night." His arm raised up the tip of his wand traced through the air as several luminescent orbs that hung at the center of the Great Hall's ceiling pulsated with a light and began to shine with a glimmering twinkle to add a fanciful accent. "This is the time of year to be merry and reminded of the hard work you've done through the year. To remind you all that you're still the height of your High School lives or moving towards University or whatever choice you've made after the school for you older ones. So, live it up, have some fun and enjoy it all."
  4. End Year Ball

An extravagant post is placed up on the Notice Board - While the color of the parchment is a bright red to capture the gaze the Letter's a constantly shifting Bold Black. At the center of the poster is a constantly in motion image of chorus of people dancing in formal tux and gowns. The words spelling out a proclamation: It's been a rough year all-around! As the year stirs to a close many of you will be saying fair well, moving on to a new life! There is also the acknowledgment of the hard work many of you had gone through for your exams! This is why a grand Ball will be held in your honor for your exit and acknowledge that work! THE END YEAR BALL! A Formal Event so bring in your best wear, if you don't have any don't be shy to ask one of the Chaperones! Signed - Professor Ackers aka Sparky! P.S. - I'm pretty stylish if you need help, Party Animals! The notice goes on to explain that those that desire to assist in the setting up and planning of the event as well as making it well known amongst the Student Body that they should contact Professor Acker's directly. As well as the intended date to be December 20th, a couple of days before the official end of classes.
  5. Event And A Very Merry Unwedding To You! [April 1st, 2018]

Foreword: This is a ,for the most part, fun party event. Anyone who knows the bride or groom or their families is welcome to come along, but it's being held in an open location anyway. It will be a short-post, non-ordered, rapid-fire type thread... which basically means, post when you think it's suitable for your character/s to do so, you don't have to bunch them in one post, but may do so if you wish, and there's no pressure for long posts, even a paragraph or two for a character is fine, you can post as quickly and often as you like, no having to wait for a post order. Feel free in the first post, to do a little background for their Easter day prior to arriving, but they'll have Easter activities in the party too. Note: There will be a part of the event, where every attending character will be affected by a spell for a brief time. They will not be harmed or forced to do anything, aside from agreed upon characters, but I'm just letting you all know. It is part of a mini-plot, and also involves the Sollozzo plot a bit. The theme is Wonderland/Fairytale Enjoy! * * * * * It had been, for the most part, a typical Easter morning, the children had got up early and run around excited for a few moments, until they realised that they couldn't find any chocolate goodies. In fact, there were no goodies. What was this?? They'd asked their mother, who had solemnly looked them in the eyes and informed them that sadly... the Easter Bunny had been hit by a car, and Easter had been cancelled... forever. She hadn't quite expected just how upset the kids would get, minus Lorelei who hadn't fallen for the ruse, and so she had caved on her April Fool's trick on them, and told them where they could find their goodies. And so they'd all pigged out on chocolate and had some family fun in the morning, before then preparing for the real event. The party that... was really just a party to celebrate the fact that she and Viktor weren't getting married yet... still. It didn't matter to Jezebel. It was a great excuse for one, and she'd decided on dressing as the Queen of Hearts, because what better costume could there possibly be for her on her day? Despite the irony of it all. Victoria Reserve had been chosen simply because it was spacious, outdoors, plenty of space for games and an egg hunt. And besides, she didn't even have to do the decorations. By the time the family had arrived there, the triplets wearing adorable mouse costumes to match each other, and Lorelei deciding to be the one and only Alice herself, Thomas and Timothy had created a veritable Wonderland within what almost looked like a hedge maze, but was really just a hedge border that was maze-like only for a couple of levels. In the centre of it was a full Wonderland tea party setting, huge and colourful and glorious, and Jezebel almost cried at the sight of it. The party getting underway as others arrived, Jez could barely contain herself as she began to greet people.
  6. Event Midnight Pumpkins

    Cassandra Sullivan
Word had somehow come about regarding an idea for having some midnight eats one day in the Spencer Common room. It hadn't been a big thing, and Cassandra recalled mentioning that she was sleeping horribly and sometimes just wanted to get up and have some ice cream or something. Somehow, it had all turned into the idea for a midnight meal of sorts, that a few students decided they'd be in on. Word had got around the students in the school a bit, though there were a number who weren't interest, those who were had just been simply told to show up around midnight in the Great Hall. Somehow Cass and Alex had been lumped with cajoling the school's House Elves into making up a few things, as well as simply setting up a music system to play something quiet as background noise. After all, what was a midnight meal without at least a little bit of music to while away the time. To be honest, Cass wasn't that worried about getting in trouble either. The party they'd arranged had turned out fine, and it wasn't like they were doing anything over the top or dangerous. And to be honest, it was just nice to have something to do besides toss and turn all night. It was getting to the stage where the young women thought she'd be better just sleeping at home. Still, as the food began appearing on the tables, the redhead found herself actually feeling a little hungry. Mostly for ice cream, which she dished up a bowl of for herself while she waited for others to turn up, sitting down on a seat with her foot bouncing to the quiet rhythm of the song that was playing while she enjoyed her triple chocolate mud brownie swirl.
  7. Event Great Festive Hall

    Alexander Winfield
[Note: This is an optional event and players/characters are in no way obligated to attend. It is a setting of a party with food and the intention to mix up some characters together, having some be in an awkward setting but also casual enough to connect with other characters they ordinarily may not come across outside of class. This is also a time to help define further already established friendships and connections. There doesn't need to be a lengthy post, something tangible enough to respond is all that is requested! - This note will be edited as need by as things come up in case I've missed anything.] The process of making the party more public and accepted by the Headmaster had went easily enough, being on the up-and-up as well as blatant about the fact they wanted a party to not only break in the new year but loosen up the possible stress students and staff alike may possibly be developing early on. Also helped that a good party was worth every inch of what it could give once the right things were in place to soar. With the back of Cassandra as co-host it was easy to make up a list on the many things that they'd need to set up and while it all held very good ideas they were a bit undermanned for the undertaking. That's when it had been mutually decided, even amongst the fact it'd be extremely awkward, to ask Gerry to help them out with the full preparations for it in the Great Hall. Choosing it as a venue was a no brainer and in truth something that hit Alex the moment the idea had fallen back into his lap to renew it, after all, people were expecting a party to happen and he couldn't just let them down. In this endeavor he went to every extent that was possible and then some to make sure there were as many options for the various personalities that could possibly grace the event. This included using the Great Hall dining tables as a source to produce food, which had mostly been an assortment of finger foods - Hot dogs, Hamburgers, small little mini-corndogs. As well as refreshments that were a mixture of not only the typical party punch bowls but actual bottles of water and soft drinks just in case people preferred an entirely different kind of beverage overall. Trashcan's were strategically placed near the ends of each side of the tables to make sure the amount of trash that actually landed on the floor could be maintained and contained. Alex wasn't much of a person to care for litter but they were operating on good faith with Headmaster Alan and on top of that the less work they had to clean up the earlier the hosts and helpers could get back to their own rooms and relax. A temporary stage had been built up as well slightly further back from the main eating and dancing areas. This was not only to accommodate the fact to avoid people tripping over various wires but to enhance the potential side that could over come the already massive hall as it was, being on the ground playing music would give a subpar sound and reach. That would do no one any good and more importantly it allowed for them to use the microphone as a way to reach out with their voices as a host should, to try and contain the flow of the evening so that people knew updates and what to expect within and through out the evening. On top of the stage had pre-established equipment for some of the more basic instruments: Microphone's for each station, Two Guitars, a Bass, Drums, Keyboard-Synthesizer, and a playback device to give musicians a bit of a break along with it having a karaoke hook-up with words that would reflect back towards the singer if someone really wanted to go the full length of making it a fun evening. Unfortunately, the hall was silent and that just wouldn't do even if they were just finishing up the final touches for the evening. Such as moving speakers and woofers into places, organizing the wires into pretty bundles in order to keep them from shortening out as well as reducing possible tripping and tangling occurring. Making the sure the food was easily accessible and that the dedicated dance floor in between the two tables were clear of any obstacles that could cause injury, stumbling, or hamper someone putting the moves down on the floor. Stage top is where Alexander had been most of the time making sure that the interference from high volume had been reduced, aligning instruments that were connected or had some form of output device to expand the sound were decent enough length away from one another that cross feedback couldn't hit as hard. Each instrument had been given a quick test run to make sure that they were properly tuned and ready to be played by anyone that picked them up, if they had the skill that is. To give a bit of sound to the area he'd run his fingers along a button on a device in what he called 'The Miniature DJ's corner' to put on a song to welcome people coming into the Great Hall for this experience. (Uptown Funk)
  8. Complete Pub Night (Jan 3rd '18)

    Alan Burdett
[This thread is essentially a group event! Have your character wander in, mingle, and see what's going on. You can @tag particular characters to ensure they don't miss your character's interactions/observations!] SETTING: So it was official. Stuart Blair had taken half ownership of The Drunken Roo, and the future of the business looked bright for the first time in years. Phil Davenport, who'd been trying to run the sinking ship since Matt's accident, was actually smiling as he completed the dinner service. To celebrate, locals of the Narrie area had flocked to their much-loved pub to boost business just that bit further, with a Pub Night. * * * You only had to say the word "pub" before Alan was interested. He'd come early for one of Phil's top-notch chicken parmigiana and a few early beers. The day had been.. unexpectedly rough, but nothing a good pub night couldn't fix. Thank goodness for Friday. He sat in his usual spot, a stool so used that it had an actual impression of his butt-cheeks on it, flattened over decades of Alan sitting there. With one elbow resting on the bar, and a beer in his other hand---Alan tried to relax. His Mum had known almost immediately that something was wrong. Well, not wrong, just... needling at him. A stupid and unnecessary annoyance that had been stuck in the back of his mind ever since he'd seen the stupid invitation to conference. Why did it bother him to see his wife's name there next to his? Because she wasn't here, and she wouldn't be there, and his stupid deputy had left for Canada at the end of the school year so that wasn't an option this time either. Stupid deputy going to stupid Canada to stupid look after her stupid sick mother. At this moment, Alan decided that he hated Canada. This was clearly all Canada's fault. So he sat and sulked in his corner, waiting for the beer to work the magic that only beer could. (Alan)
