Growing up, Jiwon always knew that he wasn’t wanted by his mother and father, so he has become resentful. He tries to close himself off from everyone because he feels like he’ll hurt people in the same way that he has been his whole life even if he doesn’t remember a lot of it. He isn’t used to seeing himself as a good person, so he just keeps quiet and rarely talks to anyone, unless they approach him and managed to push through his barriers. Jiwon feels like he isn’t that noticeable, so can’t be missed when he skips class and does whatever he wants. He only really shows a small amount of interest in his job but keeps it since it’s the only way that he gets pocket money. He’s competitive, especially with himself and his older brother, he wants to beat his scores and get better marks than him. Even with the above-average IQ that often comes with being dyslexic, Jiwon doesn’t think that he’s smart enough for anything and that he needs to be smarter to do everything that he wants.
In the past two years, Jiwon has been rebelling against his strict Korean upbringing and has been caught drinking underage. He’s been trying to suppress his feelings and emotions; he’s also become defensive whenever it’s brought up. A few people have tried to talk to him about it, and they have concluded that it has something to do with his ADHD and ASD assessments. Jiwon is aware of the fact that they mightn’t happen if he keeps going the way he is. He's hiding his naturally sweet nature for so many more reason other than this.
Jiwon is tall for a 15-year-old, he stands at 5ft11 and doesn't know if he'll get any taller. He doesn't know how much he weighs, but he's lightly muscled from all the dancing that he's done over the years. He usually has his hair styled in a blue/teal bowl-cut; this is the only sign that something isn't exactly normal with him. His hair colour is a "natural" dark brown, and when he can't control his morphing, it reverts to this colour. Jiwon has a straight nose and pouty full lips. He has rather pale and clear skin along with dark brown eyes and chubby cheeks. He often walks around with a blank expression on his face and hardly ever changes it. Jiwon has several ear piercings and is considering more, but he's still not sure. While he's out of uniform and around town, he wears normal street fashion, but if you were to find him at home, then he would most likely be seen in a modern Jeogori because he finds them to be more comfortable sometimes.
What are those? Jiwon's always had a problem with making friends. This goes back to the days when he was bullied and felt isolated from everyone around him. Most of his friends seem to come and go for one reason or another. Jiwon is also kind of scared of the family history getting out, so he unconsciously stays away from people. As a result, his family has been forcing him to try and make some sort of friend by the end of the year. Though Jiwon still thinks that he's better off without friends.
Jiwon has known his parents and has been told about them, so he can firmly say that he thinks that they're a waste of space and feels like it's a good thing that he doesn't remember a lot of it. He's always felt resentful of his parents for how they left things with him because he's never understood it. Yunseo and Jiwon always appear as though they're fighting and on bad terms, but this isn't always true; they probably fight as much as most close siblings do. More often than not it's that they can't control how they are around one another because they've only ever had each other, especially through all the heartbreak and trouble. Despite all of this, Jiwon is jealous of his older brother. He's always felt as though things are easier for him and that he doesn't have any sort of care in the world. He also feels as though Yunseo is a lot smarter than him and he has to reach the same level or higher. Jiwon and his aunt, Wendy, have never quite been the closest, but she's always kept it open that if he has any problems that he could go to her. But he would rather not because he feels like she would likely just tell on him. So he has no one that he feels like he can confide in. Jiwon gets on with his grandparents but is rebelling against them and their strict rules. He feels like they're hiding things from him under the guise that he's too young to understand things from the past.
Jiwon is known to be a bit of a lady's man, even if he's sort of given up on it now because it doesn't feed his boredom anymore. Though in saying this he's never had a proper girlfriend, just random hook-ups. Before now he hasn't really wanted anything super serious or long-lasting because he didn't want to be hurt or do the hurting. Since he's kind of new to the whole idea of possibly wanting more, he feels awkward about it and kind of inexperienced. Jiwon can't say that he's ever actually had a crush on someone either.
Jiwon doesn't really know if he cares too much about whether or not he's liked. He's so used to the concept of being disliked and knows that you can't always like a person, that fact has never bothered him in any way at all. He has a strong dislike and feelings of resentment towards his parents, even though his mother has died.
Jiwon was born in Seoul, South Korea, and is the second son of a young mother and father that hated all children. The man was known for his connections to the seedy underbelly of South Korea, something that Jiwon’s grandparents didn’t know about. He received the same sort of treatment as his older brother, Yunseo, only he witnessed some of the dealings going on around him from the time he was born, though thankfully he didn’t understand it until he was much older. When he wasn’t around that, he was left in the care of his grandparents, who had been raising Yunseo for quite some time at that point.
Eventually after a long and emotional legal battle Yunseo and Jiwon were placed into the full custody of their grandparents, since it was obvious that things weren’t going to change otherwise. The threat that Jiwon’s father and his “friends” poised was too great and his grandparents fully believed in the threats that had been sent their way. This was why they fled to Australia because it was somewhere where they were least expected to turn up. they found some protection with the Victorian Ministry of Magic because of the old connections that the family had and because of Jiwon’s grandfather’s job within the Korean Ministry of Magic.
Jiwon was way too young to remember any of this and only found out the truth as he grew older. The boy always felt like something was being hidden from him, even growing annoyed when he didn’t understand what was happening. This becomes even more obvious once you realise how much he differs from his brother in one main aspect, he’s always felt as though his grandparents were stricter on him then Yunseo and Wendy. He’s also felt like he’s different from the rest of his family, like he’s the black sheep.
Jiwon was home schooled for the first part of his childhood, but started attending the Whitlam Bilby Wing when he was seven years old. This was the beginning of his troubles, he was bullied relentlessly because of how quiet he was and other people just seemed to find things that they didn’t like about him all of this on top of the fact that he was supposed to keep his family’s secret. Around this time his family started to notice that his hair had started to change colour, leading them to believe that like Yunseo, he’d inherited their mother’s metamorphmagus abilities. Jiwon has often struggled to control his changes because of this; it’s somewhat of an open secret with him. Especially since he’s not the best at memory charms.
Jiwon’s resentment hasn’t really lifted since his mother’s death and it might have actually grown. He’s still unhappy at school, but it’s taken a turn for the worst with his drinking and skipping classes. His assessments aren’t helping in any way and might actually be making things worse because of all the stress.
