  1. Invite Firebugs gotta stick together

Maks stood in front of the door to the office and wasn't sure if he should actually knock. He could just pretend that he was busy, or he'd forgotten, but he was pretty sure that Papa wouldn't let him get away with something like that. Papa had arranged this whole thing in the first place, and if there was one thing that little Maks feared, it was Papa being mad at him. The hardest part was making his way through the underground hallway. In all of Maks' adventures around Tally - which totally happened not when he was escaping from the Bilby area, no sir - the underground hallway was the least explored. What if he was actually in trouble? Papa had said Mr. Ackers could help him understand his fire powers and be someone he could talk to when he wasn't at home and Mama wasn't around to help him. But Mr. Ackers was a teacher! That was scary enough. But, Maks was a Valentin! And Valentins were brave and fierce and loyal and everything awesome in the world. Plus maybe Mr. Ackers could be a cool teacher and maybe sort of help him find new ways to escape the Bilby area. Knocking on the door, Maksim called out, "Hello? Mr. Ackers? It's me, Maks!" Wait, no, manners! Right. "I mean. Maksim! Maksim Valentin! Papa-" Wait, formal speech, like Papa always talked about. "Mr. Valentin told me to come see you."
  2. Event And A Very Merry Unwedding To You! [April 1st, 2018]

Maksim had the sacred duty to protect this little sister, and he couldn't protect her if he didn't know what was going on. That was why the little boy quickly tugged his sister along and followed their Papa to the gathering of people. But surely it was okay, since Lei, Erian, Letta, and Nika were there too. Ekaterina then latched onto Papa's sleeve, and Maksim approached the group without any fear, a cheeky grin on his face as Papa tried to introduce them. But Maks was a fierce honey badger who could totally do this himself! "That's us! I'm Maksim!" He exclaimed to the new man that Maks had never seen before, "And that's my little sister Ekaterina. You can just call us Maks and Kat if you like, it might be easier to pronounce if its too hard. You came to party with us? It's Viktor and Jezebel's special not-a-wedding party, at least that's what I heard the adults call it." Then, Maksim looked up at the man in question before looking to his Papa, and then back at the man. "If you're mean and hurt my sister, or my friends, I'll set you on fire with my special fire magic." In the background, Vlad Zakhar put his hand to his face. Oh dear.

Maks' grin got even bigger when the girl laughed at his explanation of the fence. "Yep! I know, it sounds super funny, but Mum says I'll get better at controlling the fire as I grow up. Kat too! Oh, right, Kat's my sister, Ekaterina is her full name. She's got the fire magic just like Mum does." Maks wasn't sure if the girl knew what kind of fire magic he was talking about but, maybe if he got lucky, it would flare up again. Just, maybe not to hurt her though. Gerry seemed nice enough. "You used to sneak out too?" Maksim asked, curious as he looked up at the girl. "Games? Do you mean Quidditch? I love Quidditch! Do you think there's any Quidditch playing right now? Could we go watch?" Whoops, maybe he should slow down. Or nah. Maks decided to start with the easier question of who Papa was to Gerry, even as his blue eyes scanned the pathways, trying to decide where they ought to go. "Papa is Mr. Valentin! The Alchemy professor. Papa's gotta mark on his cheek, but he's says I'm too little to know the story yet. It's not fair really." What Maks did know was that Papa was pretty powerful, or so he heard everyone else say. "Anyway, yeah, or I guess if we do spot him, we uh... We could totally say that you found me and were taking me to him! That way I don't get you in trouble, and I won't get into too much trouble either." Maksim grinned up at his companion. "Let's go down... that path!" He indicated one that looked like it lead towards the centre of the courtyard.

She was raising her eyebrow at him; Maksim wondered if maybe he was about to get into more trouble than he originally thought. Maybe he could distract her with his fire magic though! You know, if he could get it to work when he wanted it to. "Nice ta meet ya Gerry," Maksim greeted her, a cheeky little grin forming on his face when she commented on his escape. "Yep! I used my fire magic and melted a hole in the fence. I mean, I didn't really mean to. I had just thought of scaling it, and then BOOM! Melted." The nine year old couldn't help it. Getting up onto his feet once he realized that Gerry didn't seem like a bad older student person, the boy nodded his tousled head. "Well last time I explored the memorial garden. Now I was kinda hoping to explore the centre courtyard a bit. Papa says I'll have time enough to explore once I'm a full Tally student." At that point the boy's grin turned to something a little more mischievous. "But, why wait when I can explore now?" Maksim looked up at the girl and asked, "You don't tell Papa will you? He works here."

This wasn't the first time that Maksim had snuck out of the Whitlam Bilby area. His fire magic had flared up again, even though Mama had said that he would be able to control it as he got older, got a wand and stuff. Maks had melted a hole in the fencing and quickly snuck through. It was recess time, no harm and no foul. So long as no one told Papa. But, he supposed having a Papa as important and strong and just super awesome as his own also helped make sure none of the other kids bullied him or Kat! Once he was free of the fenced area, Maksim took off at a little run, happily grinning from ear to ear as he jumped around and snuck his way to the centre courtyard. Last time he'd snuck out of Bilby, he'd ended up visiting the memorial garden. Now it was time to explore another area. Unfortunately for little Maks, he didn't get very far when in his hurry, he bumped right into the backside of someone. The little boy took a small tumble backwards, but having inherited his Papa's dexterity, Maks managed to roll and soon was crouched on his haunches. "Sorry! I didn't mean to bump into you," Maks apologized, figuring that was a good place to start. "My name's Maksim, but you can call me Maks if you like!" Now hopefully the older girl wouldn't get him into trouble.
  7. Maks Valentin

    Maksim Valentin
Maksim was born on May 30th, 2008, to his father Vladimir Valentin II, and his mother, Fiona Valentin (nee Irving), in Narragyambie, Australia. From the very beginning, the little boy was always a handful, constantly getting himself into tricky situations and mischief at every turn. Vladimir could not quite understand where his little boy got the behaviour from, but when he considered the boy's love and affection for Anastasia and Viktoriya, and Fiona's own propensity for mischief when she was young, he supposed it all made sense. Maksim's first appearance of magical capability happened on the day his little sister was born. When Maksim went to the hospital to see Mum and the baby, Maksim had been enchanted with Kat's little button nose and her chubby little hands trying to grasp at things. He told his parents that Kat needed bubbles to play with, and when he clapped his hands together, tiny bubbles appeared in the air, with which the little girl reached for. Maksim took his sister's happiness and safety very seriously. That didn't mean that she was off the hook, however, and as the two of them got older, Maksim would play little tricks on her to bug her. Maksim never made his sister cry once. Because he began to manifest his magic at a young age, Vladimir decided that there was no better alternative than for the boy to begin at the Whitlam Bilby wing of Tallygarunga. Maksim had been more than excited to start school, even though he didn't really pay as much attention as he should. Maksim enjoyed learning new things, he just didn't like being tested on all of it. When Ekaterina began at the school too, Maksim did his best to make sure that his sister was safe, and that no one messed with her. He never failed a single year, and is now about to enter Grade 4 before he finally will get to move on to the bigger school itself.
