Born in the United States, Zane Nedvidek didn't have it easy. His family was of lower class. His mother is a squib, and his father a self-employed man, if you could call a criminal that. Nobody ever expected magic to come from Zane. His father was abusive, constantly beating him and his mother. Growing up in this situation, with his mother being a simple cleaning lady, and his father doing petty theft here and there while mowing lawns, wasn't ideal. Zane had plans, even as a young child, to become bigger than all of that. He thought that there was something special about him. Something unique. Then, it happened. Upon turning eleven years of age, he was sent a letter of acceptance into a school for boys located in the Eastern USA. His mother was thrilled, seeing as her son had inherited something that seemed to skip over her. His father was happy too, thinking of what magic could help him gain with his criminal activites, and had a sit down his his son. During this conversation, Zane had tried to explain to his father that he would not venture into the criminal world. This had earned him a beating until an agreement was reached.
At school, Zane intellectual individual, showing tremendous skills, even as a first year. He was considered to be one of the top students of his class, excelling in subjects such as Transfiguration, Charms, Potions, and Arithmancy. In his third year, Zane joined the Quidditch team as a beater.
However, his home life was soon to be catching up with him. Zane's father had been imprisoned in his sixth year, nearly getting Zane expelled for the first time. A little escapade. All Zane had to do was unlock a few doors, a safe, and they would be rich. Of course, even magic can't stop a motion detection alarm. Zane was gone before the police showed up, but the Ministry got onto him for using magic outside of the school. After this episode, Zane turned violent out of nowhere. The quiet, hard working student began lashing out at classmates who eventually became too afraid to turn him in. He was booted from the Quidditch team, removed from his spot as the Prefect, and outcast by nearly everybody. His incident with his father had tarnished his reputation. What more could he have to lose? He was being bullied, and had reached his boiling point.
That's when it happened. Zane nearly killed a kid in the halls of his previous because the boy had pushed him against the wall and called him a loser for having a pathetic father. Zane snapped, and started beating the boy over and over again with a chair until being pulled apart by a professor. This resulted in his expulsion. His mother, afraid of backlash from other parents against her son, packed up, and moved to Australia, her home land. She found a way to enroll him into school despite his past, writing letter after letter. Because of this, he started at Tallygarunga Academy of Magic. A relationship, if you can truly call it that, blossomed with Améa, and after some time they dropped out of school, got married, and soon after disappeared.
They returned to Narrie and began talking about starting a family of their own, however, Améa needed to get strong enough to carry a child, so she left to be with her family so that they can figure it out. He has not seen her since.
What is not known is that Zane has been under the imperious curse by his uncle, Thomas Sollozzo, in an attempt to seek revenge on Adele. When Zane had come home to tell his mother that he'd met someone, and told her the name, Thomas immediately acted. Zane has been under the imperious curse this entire time, trying his best to fight it. His mother tried to help, but as a squib could not do much. Thomas found out and made Zane kill his own mother. Zane had an opportunity to create a new, better life for himself, but Thomas did not allow that. Instead, it turned him into the monster he is known to be today.
