At 5 foot 7 inches tall Tamarah doesn’t exactly stand above the crowd, but her presence is definitely felt through it. Lean, toned, muscular and fit, Tam’s body is truly a temple and one that has been maintained to be a peak athletic machine. Like the majority of her family she has rich brown hair and usually keeps it out like an unnaturally long and unkempt mane that is brushed back behind her. Her eyes are a deep, earthy brown that twinkle mischievously and her lips are curled to one side in what her father calls a ‘larrikin smirk.’
Simple and practical are words that have been used to describe Tamarah’s fashion sense, though if you were to ask her she would claim to not have one and that even if she did she wouldn’t particularly care. The result of this attitude is a young woman perpetually married to t-shirts, tank tops, sneakers, jeans and never a skirt or dress: NEVER a skirt or dress. So little does she regard any sense of style that the only reason she knows to color coordinate is because of the severe talking to she’d get from either her mum or her sister, Jezebel. (Her father, oddly enough, doesn’t have an opinion.)
The image of herself that she pushes forward is of someone strong and unquestionably capable: a veritable miniature behemoth that can conquer any obstacle, defeat any challenge and accomplish anything and everything she puts her mind to. Her very aura radiates determination, though is both warm and friendly enough to be shared around by all she would encounter. - Personality:
-
Tamarah is, if nothing else, absolutely determined. Her personal philosophy is that all things should be done well and with effort, passion and commitment or else they’re not worth doing it all. She clings well to this school of thought, the results of which see her excel in a number of areas such as sport, practical jokes and taking care of her family and friends, and falling short in other areas like chores or studying.
Living for adventure, Tam seeks glory and fame wherever she can get it and is never satisfied until she pushes things to their ultimate conclusions. This has her often bending or breaking the rules, doing whatever she can to prove herself at any time regardless of the personal risk. More often than not this trait is her downfall as a lot of the things she does can and will end in mild disaster.
From a young age she has gained a mastery over herself and become a very adept liar. She has a poker face with no tells and will always pass herself off as innocent even if there is a stockpile of evidence highlighting her deceit. Deny, deny, deny: she will deny any wrong-doing until she is believed, and even those who are smart enough to know when not to believe her she will argue with until they are exhausted and concede. Her family and friends know how to work around this skill, but fortunately for them they are rarely on the receiving end of it.
More than anything Tamarah cares about the people around her and has disciplined herself for the sake of their approval and respect. This has become even more complicated by her mother’s recent actions, something that has thrown a spanner into their family dynamic. When she’s upset she will try to hide her feelings from them fearing they might see her as inferior or weak but isn’t so pent up about it that she wouldn’t open up with a little bit of prying. Deep down she understands that sharing her burdens are easier on both her and everybody, but at the same time has a hard time forgiving herself for not being able to tough it out solo.
Though she tries to be responsible Tamarah is always disarmed by her two mischievous twin brothers, Tim and Tom, affectionately referred to by her as ‘Mi’ and ‘Mo’ while they call her ‘Meanie’. After setting up an elaborate practical joke the two brothers will ask Tam to join them, and though she sometimes resists she is always easily goaded into it. When things go wrong she’s happy to wear the blame and deny, deny, deny just to save them the hassle. The cost of this is for them to bestow her seniority with the official ‘older sister’ status regardless of their actual birthing order. - History:
-
One of three triplets, Tamarah is the second daughter of Stuart and Tanya Blair, a halfblood ministry worker and a pureblood healer respectively. Her older sister, Jezebel, twin brothers Tim and Tom, and younger brother Stewie, are all fellow students at the Tallygurunga School of Magic, and until recently have helped form a close knit and deliriously happy family.
Drawn into Tim and Tom’s mischief from the very start Tamarah was always considered a rambunctious child. This didn’t change as she grew older as her tomboy nature became more and more evident. Eager to prove herself and assert her greatness into the world she was always provoked into trouble by her brothers, but was ultimately understood by her parents. This wild nature soon found an outlet when a young Tamarah was introduced to the wide world of sport.
At six years old Tamarah’s fate was decided when her father took her to Geelong to witness first hand Australia’s victory against Ireland in one of the first qualifying matches of the Quidditch World Cup. She was utterly captivated by the power of the players, the glory of victory and the sheen of the Golden Snitch for the brief moment it buzzed beneath her nose. From that moment on she knew that she was going to play for her country and make her family proud.
But first she was going to need a broom...
The story goes (at least by Stuart’s telling) that he left his racing broom one night locked away in the garden shed. Tam, with the aid of Tim and Tom, somehow procured the magic word to the lock and found her way inside. Next thing they knew they were at an empty park in the middle of the night where a completely inexperienced young girl sat straddled over a magical device far beyond her grasp. The result was her falling from an unsafe height and shattering her left shoulder.
Of course Tamarah’s version of events is much different. In her telling she was standing by the garden shed when her father’s broom burst out and attacked her, dropping her deliberately over the park where a concerned Tim and Tom had chased her. Curious really as brooms aren’t known to attack people, and that three other brooms on three separate occasions did exactly the same thing resulting in Tamarah either fracturing or breaking her tibia, knee and ribs respectively. Unbelievable as it is Tamarah clings to this version of the story well into the present.
Either way it was because of these incidents that Tamarah was (rightly/unfairly) banned from using a broom again until she was fourteen. She would not be deterred however, and decided to hone her skills in the meantime by immersing herself into another more grounded sport: hockey. Applying her everyday determination to the field she became a veritable junior star and ultimately reached her current crowning achievement: scoring the winning goal in the last seconds of interstate finals.
Though originally intending to follow her sister to Penrose she was never allowed the opportunity. By the time her letter had arrived Jezebel had already transferred to Tallygarunga, so Tamarah did the same.
Currently in her sixth year Tam is hardly the model student and instead spends hours of class time dreaming of being on the field, riding her broom and fighting the wind and gravity like there was no tomorrow. The teachers say of Tam and her family agrees that her head is fixed firmly in the clouds, and it is up there that she is going to shine. Now if only she could focus on her herbology homework... - Secrets:
