A Slight Disturbance

Aksana thought about it for several seconds until a glint of light from her wrist caught her eye. It was from her watch, which read nine twenty-nine. With a start that caused her to drop the device she was holding, she realized that she was nearly late for one of her lessons. Not wanting to provoke the wrath of a teacher this early in the day,Aksana began to run towards the classroom she needed to be in. As she reached the door, however, she was stopped by the sound of a rather loud explosion and a cloud of black smoke several yards away that was steadily growing larger.
As the smell of burnt rubber hit her nostrils, Aksana realized what had happened "Oh man..." she thought. "Well...it's not like I wasn't going to do that anyways, I suppose." She stood outside of the classroom, watching her fellow classmates try to trace the cause of the disturbance, not even really caring whether she was late or not anymore.

Tessa put Plonterionees into her school bag - she carried her beloved frog to eveywhere she went, but no one knew it... yet - and started to make her way to the DADA class, thinking of possible excuses for her lack of punctuality, and homework. When she was almost getting there, she heard a loud explosion behind her back. She turned around and saw a big cloud of black smoke, and her eyes went wide. Who owned the brilliant mind who planned this? It looked like she was going to have an excuse to miss DADA that morning... Again, Tess turned around, trying to find who had done that. She saw a red-headed girl, that seemd a little younger than her, and walked towards her. "Excuse me" Tess said, once she got closer "Do you know who made this? I mean the big and loud and totally awsome explosion?"

"But if it was 'so awesome that I'll high five the mastermind behind it.' Then it was someone who is withing a few feet of yourself and quite pleased with the compliment." Aksana did not want to give too much away, but seeing as this was an actual accident for once she would have a good out in case of trouble. Or at the very least a way to lessen whatever punishment she might be given.
Aksana smiled at the girl.

"Oh, by the way" Tess continued after a few moments "I'm Tessa Fratch" she said, strtching her right arm, waiting for a handshake.

Tessa reached for a bag of candies she had into her backpack. She felt Plonterionees' skin as she tried to find it, her school bag was even more messy that day. Tessa finally found her medium-sized blue bag in which she kept all her candies. She took one Chocolate Frog, and handed the bag to Aksana "Want some? I have some toffees, small lollipops, but mostly Chocolate Frogs."

Aksana accepted took a chocolate frog. "Thank you." she told the other girl with a smile. "These are my favorites.

"Oh, those ones are my favorite too" Tessa said, just after Aksana accepted a chocolate frog. "I mean, I have this crazy obsession with frogs, and frog-shaped chocolates are just perfect." Tess said happily, eating one chocolate "Anyways" she said, when she was finished. "Umm, do you have any pets?" she asked, changing the subject. Tessa was very talkative, and this means that she had to be talking all the time.

"I have a kitten. His name is Bartok." She told Tess. "He's normally with me but I think he ran off chasing a rat as I was leaving the dormitory this morning." she wasn't worried about not know where her beloved pet was. He was a smart cat and could get along just fine without her.
"Do you have any pets?" Aksana asked.

"Bartok? What a great name for a kitten!" Tess said. She always went mental when she heard unusual names. To her, most of the names from other countries she heard were unusual, since she was born and raised in Australia, and never left the country.
"Oh, I have this big frog. His name is Plonterionees, or just Nees, for short" Tess said "I always carry him in my backpack, do you want to see him?" she asked, not very sure she would like to. Most girls didn't like frogs that much, and Tessa understood it.

"I'd love to see your toad." she told Tess." She didn't quite love reptiles and amphibians but they weren't terrible. Certainly not as bad as insect.

"Oh, here you are" Tessa said when she felt Nees' skin under her hand. She took him out from the backpack and stood up. "Nees, this is Akasana, Aksana, this is Nees." Tessa said happily, like she was introducing a person.

She straightened up again, still smiling brightly. Now that she saw it up close she was not concerned with the fact that there was a frog in her general vicinity. It really was quite cute in any case.
"You'll have to meet Bartok sometime." she told Tess.

"I can't wait to meet your cat" Tess said with a bright smile. She loved animals, and a Russian cat must be really great.

"There you are, friend" she said to it as it meowed at her. "Say hello to Tess, Bartok" Aksana told her pet. "She's a very nice girl."
Aksana looked around. The smoke had cleared up quite a bit, but people were still looking around confused as they continued on their way.

Tess looked up at Aksana, who was now looking around to the smoke caused by the detonator, and the confused people around it. "Are you sure you won't get into trouble because of this?" she asked slowly.

She looked around hurriedly at Tess' mention of getting into trouble. "There's always a possibility of it." she started, turning around and scanning the hallway. "Why? You don't see anyone, do you?" It wasn't the potential detention that bothered her. It was the inevitable letter home to her parents. Aksana's father and cousin Demitri wuld find the whole thing hilarious, but her mother and grandmother...Let's just say that they weren't huge on loud noises. "They raised me." she thought. "should be used to it by now."

Tess smiled "I still don't get how someone so young has enough brain to plan something like this!" Tessa always loved pranking people. But her pranks were nothing more than silly curses and jinxes. She never thought about exploding something in the hallway. It was just brilliant "Let me know the next time you want to explode something." Tessa said "I definitely want to see it" she quickly added.

"I'm nearly 15." Aksana told the girl as she stopped, realizing that Bartok was meowing at her because she was already where she was supposed to be going. "And an explosion is pretty simple. It's the more complex things like turning all of the clocks in the school back an hour or inciting a house elf dance party in the corridor that take massive amounts of thinking." She walked back to where she had been standing before.
"Forgot my class was here." She explained. "Well, I could always use some help with that dance party." Aksana told her, grinning.

Tessa heard as Aksana told her about some more complex tricks "Wow. That's awsome, you really did those things?" she asked smiling, and stood where she were when Aksana started going back. "Oh" she said, after Aksana explained to her that her class was there "My class is there too... But I think I'll.... I don't know, maybe skip it?" she said. Tessa had never skipen a class before. It seemed so thrilling! "And I'd love to help you with the dance party"
