How to Create a Character Mousie Will Love...
Not killing your parents.
- There's nothing wrong with a normal, drama-free family. It's true that tragedies do happen, but avoiding certain 'overdone' histories like being orphaned, or experiencing six to eight different forms of abuse will help get your application approved quicker - and help you create a character you'll be able to play past the initial drama.
This isn't Hogwarts, mate.
- Although Tally is based on Harry Potter, we don't acknowledge the events in JK Rowling's books. This is because the series wasn't finished when the board was opened. Instead, we take the view that the conflict happened half a world away, and had very little impact here. Because of this, Tallygarunga is non canon, and we do not accept characters (or descendants of) from the books. Further more, we do not accept characters from other books, movies, games or any media.
Perfection isn't everything. Flawed is fun!
- When creating your character, here's the motto: Nobody is perfect. Everyone has flaws, just like we all have good points. We want the nitty gritty here! We want to know what their failures, as well as their strengths are!
Relax... Admin will choose your character's house.
- Regarding houses. admin will place your character in a house.. But here's a description of the houses at Tally, for your information. Note that they are actually quite different to the Hogwarts houses.
Bourke:
The students of Bourke are a resilient and loyal lot. They will stick beside their friends to the point of death. They are trusting, and can often be betrayed by those they love most. In general, they are a brave and happy people.
Flinders:
The most easy-going students of Tallygarunga, these range from the quiet academics, to the not so brave scholars. They are largely students with a good school record, they rarely get into trouble. They are good friends to those they have, and aren't always quite what they seem.
Sturt:
Another generally quiet group, they are more absorbed in their dark and cunning thoughts than the Flinders students. They are skilled at scheming, don't often like or enjoy school, or have a more methodical and logical approach to things. Whilst they are not known for their pranks, and can be a morbid lot, it is not unknown for the odd Sturtian to break the shell, and lighten up a little.
Spencer:
The most distinguishable of all the houses, these students are also the loudest. They have a pure love for life and all it brings like Flinders and Bourke, but also have a notorious reputation for being pranksters and class clowns. Most will have a sharp wit, sarcastic tongue, and talk back to student and professor alike.
Know your Rules.
- You'll find them in the two Essential topics, The Rules and the Avatar & Sig Rules.
Know your species.
- We've got a few interesting breeds and halfbreeds available, but before you apply - double check that we're all on the same page. For consistency's sake, we've outlined how we expect certain species to act on Tallygarunga. This means we don't end up mixing Anne Rice with Stephanie Meyer -- that could be messy! You'll find all of the relevant information in Species Information, and if you have any questions - feel free to ask a staff member for help/clarification.
