Trigger warning: allusions to sexual assault
Lucy got into trouble as a kid. Her mother always tried to tell her it wasn't okay to get mud on her clothes, it wasn't okay to swear, and it definitely wasn't acceptable to punch mean boys in the face. Lucy did it anyways. He had been picking on the new girl with pigtails and she didn't like that.
Nothing really deterred Lucy from defending the little guys (often little girls) from those who would pick on them. She was always trying to take the abuse onto herself so the other people could be safe and happy. She continued to get in trouble all through her school years. While her mother openly disapproved, she knew her father was secretly proud that she took it upon herself to protect other people.
When she got to Tallygarunga, Lucy was happily sorted into Bourke. Nothing really changed at Tally for her. She was still as headstrong and fiercely protective as she had been before school. Her favorite classes were Defense Against the Dark Arts and Charms, but she also really enjoyed Transfiguration and Potions.
Eventually, Lucy's hard fighter exterior was broken. During the summer between sixth and seventh year, Lucy was out with some friends from school. After making sure her friends got home safely, she began the walk from her friend's house to her own. On the way, she met another of her classmates, one she'd had a small crush on, and agreed to walk with him for a while. They walked to an alley where he asked if he could kiss her. She agreed but he took more. Despite how hard she fought, by the end, she was broken, bruised, and bleeding in a way she had thought herself too strong to be broken, bruised, or bleeding. She picked herself up, pulled herself together, and made her way home to clean up. She was very clinical about the entire process and didn't even let herself cry until she was in bed that night.
After graduation, Lucy was ready. She had taken a year to pull herself together and was ready to take on people who thought they could get away with hurting other people. She immediately signed up for the auror training program at the Ministry of Magic and excelled through the program. She worked as an auror for five years before she took a position as a trainer, wanting to train other hopeful aurors to protect innocent people. Since then, she's enjoyed her job of training the future aurors to be the best they can be.
